I've been saying that FOREVER. There are so many great romcom anime (Love is War, Horimiya, You and I Are Polar Opposites) that I know they would LOVE. Plus, watching reaction channels view romance anime (especially couples) makes it even better.

So it seems a lot of people forget, those magical barriers are weak to physical attacks. It was explained+shown during the mage exam.

I love how the anime literally decreased Stark's framerate to show how stiff he was walking with Fern. Bro looked like OPM season three.

I love little moments where they show like relationships in high pressure situations like how stark ran to catch fern when she was sent flying

I know their relationship is part of it, but mages are also more fragile, so Fern kinda needed that.

Did you guys pick up on how Fern protecting herself with the barrier broke instantly. But when she was using it to defend herself and Stark it held for longer

I think that was a matter of the type of damage Fern was blocking. It was established last season that the defensive magic Fern was taught to employ is built to withstand mana-based attacks. Against physical attacks, it's actually quite fragile. That's why it broke against the monster's sword but not Frieren's Zoltraak.

It was a physical attack both times, I was referring to the demon at the end swinging at her and stark against the tree. The one that shattered into butterflies. Her barrier held for a second longer that her initial one had against the demons first swing. I just like to attribute that to protecting stark as well caused her to make the spell stronger is all
