“It’s been 84 years” since I’ve waited for this moment!!!

Ryuga

W reactions. Not sure if it's cause we asked but thanks anyways.

patricia jimjimcherie

What I love about this episode it’s that it’s sad af. And as HxH continue to prove us, fights here aren’t fights, they’re executions.

Schlong Shucker

This was deeply reminiscent of Mustang frying Envy, in the sense that like overall it’s a good thing but it feels deeply uncomfortable

Babybear47

Honestly triple drop should have been an option cuz damn that cliff hanger is always crazy like seeing it more than once still is crazy lol but hey love the double drop non the less!!!

Idk gon literally put his life on the line to save killua at the beginning of the story lol not only that but by gon being this constant positive energy that shine like a beacon for killua it helped him to balance out his emotions as well we’ve seen that throughout the story, and yes, Killua did almost die countless times just to help gon achieve his goals but those were small steps to the overarching goal of gon meeting his father, that is a journey that they were willing to take knowing how hard it would be I can’t blame gon for Killua wanting to put his life on the line for his friend knowing gon would do the same it has done it, I don’t know I don’t like this agenda of people acting like gon is just an emotional burden to killua when in fact, he is the catalyst of why killua slowly grows out of his family teachings… Now I do think that gon isn’t absolved of criticism and that he should revision on how he deals with certain things and how it impacts the people around him, despite understanding why he was unstable, killua having a discussion with him and holding him accountable would be great and perhaps even distancing himself a bit from gon and his self-destructive cope mechanism just to keep himself sane is understandable, I’m just not on board with him just cutting gon off but everybody got their ways of processing things i’m just sharing my mind on this subject because it is an agenda in this hxh community of painting gon as a monster

Andre

The dubbed version doesn’t hit like the subbed version tbh

hellios6

This episode hits so hard everytime. I never expected to see Pitou so broken, and to actually feel sad for her. The ultimate expectation twister

Saiyasha

Remember all those times people called cute fun kid Gon a Monster in the making? This. This is what they were talking about.

KrampusLuvsLettsReact

alot of people dont know this, but you can hear killuas first footstep as he leaps towards gon

Deanratticus

How dare you, i forgot about that now im sad all over again

I can never be too mad at the ants, they were predatory animals that suddenly gained human intelligence and power. We’ve had those things for thousands of years and we’re still cruel and violent and exploitative toward other animals, and even ourselves. Even the ants that eventually remembered their lives as humans were either villagers who lived without any modern knowledge, or literal drug dealing terrorists. They became ants but their lives as humans had been awful because of other humans. Why should the ants treat us any better than we’d treat them or than we treat ourselves? But still, some of them did learn empathy, but at that point they were already locked into a fight for their existence with us.

Tyler

Kite being a stand in for Gons dad is a perfect way to describe their relationship love that comparison Montana

Coqnbauz

Remember that Pitou is completely unaware of the King’s transformation post-Netero fight so their statement about Gon’s strength is based on the former/weaker King (which is still really fucjing crazy)

Tyler

Killua yelling out for Gon breaks my heart every time

I have always thought that hxh episode 131 is in the argument for the single greatest anime episode ever. I think it has a few episodes like that but 131 is up there as an all timer for me.

Dominick Ratliff

Sorry for the super long comment lol. It’s always been my head canon that Kite is a stand-in for Ging in Gon’s head. He’s technically known Kite since he was little. Kit saved him and taught him the meaning of respecting nature. Kite is the biggest lead to his personal goal of finding his dad. Most importantly Kite was his mentor this arc and his brother in arms in battle. Gon hates the feeling of feeling weak or useless more than anything. Kite's death feels like he failed his “father” figure and Gon is reminded of his dad’s motives. “If being a Hunter is so important that family comes second, it must be an incredible job. However, there’s another translation of the quote from the 1999 version that I feel fits a little better. "I want to know what's so great about being a Hunter that it would make a father want to leave his own son!" Being a hunter is endless adventures and risk, Gon now knows this as he gets stronger and explores as much of the world to see if being a Hunter is worth all that it amounts to. Ging abandoned his family for this life. To Gon, Kites’ death represents being abandoned by his “dad” again but this time he can “blame” himself, and for Gon that is irreconcilable.

Phoenix_mercury

Why bother complaining about something that can't be changed? Also agree to disagree 🤷

Steffen

They should watch this once more in sub

bob

I dont know why we like to watch you guys suffer srry but did u like the episode?

FearTheDee

And this is where the show changed forever going forward.

Luís

It feels like Gon did a speed run of wasting your life away in the pursuit of vengeance

I_am_Knowledge

19:39 Gon “Rock comes from the heart”

SoClose

Yeah. The fans should’ve never let them go through with this, but it’s too late. They don’t seem to mind that much though.

HBelmont67

It is ALL people say about this show here. I mean, that's not an uncommon sentiment in the anime community, but it's RIDICULOUS how many times I've seen it on this Patreon reaction.

David L

To add to that, even though we as the audience knows that the only reason he went to Kite instead of Ging after Greed Island is because Ging is a baby who didn't want to meet more than one person, Gon does not know that. To Gon, the entire saga of finding a way into Greed Island and then beating the game was all an elaborate setup to 1) Train Gon, and 2) Send him to meet Kite. Which makes Kite a very important person to Ging and thus a very important person to Gon. Also Gon is ~13 and adults under duress are not exactly known for making rational decisions, let alone teenagers.

1, the dub isnt even bad and 2, "the fans should have never let them"? Hello? we don't control them? They do what they want. Its their patreon. They choose to react in dub because it's easier for them. It's not that fkn deep. If you need it so bad, plenty reactors out there resct in sub that you can go watch. I'm tired of seeing the same complaint in this comment section when it's *known* they react in dub. They have auditory processing problems and it's hard for them to read and react at the same times, they have said this many times in their earlier reactions

HBelmont67

A new anime just started by Studio Bones and the creator of Fullmetal Alchemist. It's called Daemons of the Shadow Realm, and it's already got me hooked. 🤩

Seth

I feel like I should say this so you guys understand gon a little more. The anime doesn’t touch up on this but in the manga kite was much more present in go s early years and was actually in the first manga chapter. Kite was the person who told gon about his father and is honestly the reason he even went on this journey. It’s unfortunate the anime didn’t adapt this bc it makes Gons motivation way more impactful and understandable.

Gavin Childs

Sweet I’m definitely going to check it out. What is your favorite Anime? Mine is Fairy Tail

SoClose

It’s bad. But it’s not just about the acting, it’s the translations. Poor economy of words. They make serious scenes sound like a parody. Juvenile, corny, extra cheesy. It’s an insult to the show. You can argue against a wall, but not the truth

HBelmont67

GREAT choice 👆🏼. Probably Demon Slayer, for me.

Mary Baker

I remember watching this the first time hiding behind my pillow alternating between 🫢 and😱All while my brother (who already watched it) cackled at my suffering.

Mary Baker

It still hits though

olli barre

Gon sacrifices all of his nen in the this moment and considering life needs nen to keep living what do you guys think about gons state going forward?

jo.elmofo

11:40 well that's one way to get around the drawbacks knuckle talked abt lol

SomePerson47 .

Definitely the pinnacle moment of the series. Now I just want to talk about the score here, cuz HOLY SHIT do I love the performance. Idk if the entire show was recorded in an orchestra, but this scene surely was. Definitely go and listen to just the OST of this scene cuz I sure have countless times. https://youtu.be/K3d_k_21QPg?si=1PM9MHorqdZ8RtCI

Brandon C

My favorite episode and ending sequence in the entire show. Absolute masterpiece
