Genuinely can't see why anyone DEFENDS Ging. I totally get like recognizing his skill as a hunter but you also gotta recognize how terrible of a father he is bruh. I DO however think calling him a worst anime dad ever is absurd when people like All For One, Shou Tucker, and Bondrewd The Novel exist as contenders 💀

Given that Dr Stone ranked third in the last poll behind Castlevania and Apothecary Diaries, both of which have already come to the channel, there's no reason for it to NOT come after HxH. Isgac about Naruto or Black Clover. Not to mention it's been highly requested for YEARS at this point.

Yeah, he is Gon's father but he's not his dad, feels more like that one relative you see once in a while just enough to remember who they are rather than a dad, the only thing I give him props for is recognising that he wasn't(clearly) fit to be a dad and trusting mito with him instead of dragging the poor kid who knows where with jack squat for stability, instead he got loving parental figures and friends and stability to learn and grow

Okay rengokus father is no were near as bad, ging literally left his sons life for years. And still barely talks to the kid. Rengokus dad is a traumatized war vet with a dead wife. He wasnt even physically abusive to his sons, just for a brief period of time he was an alchoholic broken man. There more to it but dont wan to spoil the rest of the series but yea hes no where near as bad he has actual understandable reason as to why he ended up that way imo ging has 0. He is imo just as well written as endevor. Ill add he never hit his sons before regokus death that one time he his rengokus brother was definitely a culmination of his hatred towards himself and flame breathing and his sadness over his wife and son now being dead and he didnt do anything. His entire character is about feeling worthless. Im not saying its okay but i wouldnt call i physical abuse.

What I like about Ging is that he never claims to be a good person, he knows he sucks, and that's kinda why I like him. He genuinely didn't think he would be a good parent so he gave Gon away, does this excuse his actions? Absolutely no! He sucks as a dad and kinda as a person but that why he's so interesting to me.

This isn't a spoiler and I won't go into detail, but after the show ends, in the currently ongoing manga, we actually learn hints at how the queen ant showed up on shore that also ties into the lore and worldbuilding. Kenny and Montana would absolutely love following the manga after the anime ends,

I hear ya, but I think you're underplaying Shinjuro's behavior a bit. He wasn't an alcoholic for a "brief time". We saw how young his sons were right before his wife's death, so he was like that for, at minimum, half of Kyojuro's life and pretty much the entirety of Senjuro's. A neglectful father can be just as bad as an actively terrible one; the Rengokus are just a better case scenario of how that could turn out.

It wasn't outright stated what they did with Kite, mostly to leave it as a plottwist, but considering the emphasis on human brains and how precious especially the 'rare humans' was, it is unlikely that Pitou got to just play away with like the rarest/best nutrition they got. So likely his brain was extracted and got fed to the queen, at least after Pitou failed to bring him back to life. We don't know the timing either, but likely if Kite's brain was fed to the queen just a bit earlier, then he might have become part of the king rather than part of what was going to become 'the next queen'. There is actually some crazy speculations around a vague hint about his power that we haven't gotten yet, but some people think his power was involved in his survival.

Not A Spoiler, just a personal theory based on info solely in the anime thus far: The queen ate the brains of humans, even some ants, and even Meruem (when he killed that village kid) ate the brains and made "meatballs," so I guess the "soul" resides in the mind. Kite i believe had a large stitch across his forehead probably where his brain was removed and eaten. Pituo only made use of Kite's Corpse

This is gonna sound REALLY cheesy, but what me out: Having Dr Stone, a more intelligent and clever kind of anime, be competing with Naruto and Black Clover, two shonen battle anime, kinda feels like the central conflict of the first two season of DrS, with the Kingdom of Science vs the Tsukasa Empire, brain vs brawn.

I mean I don't know why anyone would call him a good dad but he is surely far from the worst. He is, self-admittedly, a selfish asshole for sure. But he also A) leaves Gon in a stable and positive environment with family that will love and care for him, and B) Gets out of Gon's life without making it Gon's problem that he does want to or have the capability of being a good parent. And then yeah, he leaves a message that is basically "I don't really want to meet you because I know I'm being an asshole here, but if you have an adventurous spirit and want to meet me anyone, here is an adventure to come and find me." Like, I'm not saying throw the man a parade but I fail to see why him declining to participate in parenthood seems to be treated on the same level as active abusers. It seems at best to me very binary, like you can be a good dad or the absolute worst dad and those are the only two options, and since he's obviously not a good dad that makes him the absolute worst.

My theory for a while has been that the weapon Kite summoned vs Pitou was a spirit sword and not a mace/axe. For one thing, while we've only seen two other weapons so far the weapon has emerged out of the base and the clown serves as the bottom of the weapon. Calling it a mace held backwards is weird and also implies the clown is the weapon which is inconsistent with the other information we have. Two, a sword seems to be Kite's actual weapon of choice; it's the only real weapon we see him wielding and even in this episode Reina is playing with a toy sword, and it notably seems to be the only time he didn't comment on a bad roll. If there is an actual weapon Kite likes out of the crazy slots a sword seems the best candidate. Three, like that video mentions Togashi has used the idea before with Kuwabara having a hilt to make his spirit sword.

Also, nuance matters, and Gon had a better life without Ging than he would have with Ging. Interesting take! Ging is awful, but objectively made the best choice for Gon, because how much worse off would a child be raised by him? Mito did better than Ging ever could, so in my mind, better than keeping your child to use as a tool to boost your career. (I do think Ging is king of deadbeats, just not worst dad ever)

No, he's not worse. This why yall need to watch Nobody Understands Toji videos or read the Manga where it's more clear. Toji loves his son but Toji literally shattered after his significant other passed : He knew he couldn't be a great father on his own so he sold his son since he though he'd have a better life with the Zenin clan (Yes money was also a factor but not really, Toji can get money millions of other ways if he truly wanted) The Gojo Vs Toji fight also highlighted how Toji stopped fighting when he was happy

Yes, i know. I just meant his actual treatment of Megumi. I am well aware of how much he loves and cares about his son but he IS a deadbeat who sold his son, and the people he sold him to were known to be abusive of their children. That part can't be erased. Yes he changed his mind when he was dying but that doesn't change the actual actions he did. Where as Ging knew that he wouldn't be a good father and could never give Gon a good life so he left him the the care of someone he trusted who he knew would love and care for Gon. That's why I said Toji was worse.

But the thing is people don't talk about him in the list. Most people I see talk about Ging are calling him THE worst dad in anime, as in the WORST, not on the list but the TOP of it. Which, clearly isn't true considering two of the three I listed have experimented on their children and turned them into monsters (albeit it's probably a bit more nuanced for Bondrewd given how fucked his mind got because of the Abyss).
