Before it starts in comments later: Alluka is basically trans, the writer pretty much confirmed it (just without using the word "transgender") by saying that Alluka "lives as a girl". Killua respects this because he's the only one in the family who views Alluka as a genuine sister, the rest don't view Alluka as a real family member due to Something's(Nanika) presence; *that* is why the pronouns will keep switching, the author did it in the manga as well, this was *intentional* and not a "translation issue" or a "culture difference" like people may start saying. Alluka is *just* a trans girl, I promise it is genuinely that simple. Edit: thanks for talking about it in the video, but I just know people are gonna be in the comments debating anyway, it always happens in this arc

Also, I think the Zoldycks *found* Alluka rather than actually had her naturally, but that's never been outright confirmed how or where as far as I know

Someone already explained in a comment but I’m gonna add a bit more information because this topic gets deniers and bigots out in force trying to lie about the situation. Lots of people will falsely claim that alluka is not trans and that actually they are just a non trans Boy or non trans girl and that this is all “confusion due to bad translation”. They will claim that “actually the characters are using gender neutral terms in Japanese and the English translators just got confused leading to the switching pronouns used”. This is a flat out lie. In Japanese the butlers refer to alluka as Bochan I tern that gets translated as young master in English but literally means “son of a rich family” and is a male exclusive term. You would not call a girl bochan. Killua meanwhile refers to her as imouto which literally means little sister and is again a female exclusive term. You would not call your younger brother imouto unless you were trying to seriously mock them which we know Killua isn’t doing. So in fact the Japanese words used concretely show that gendered terms are in fact being used and alluka is in fact a trans girl. Please don’t give any bigots who may appear any room in your minds to consider their lies.

Damn bro was gonna comment that. There is also panels where killua corrects the body guards when they refer to Alluka as a "he" saying she is a girl, the official databook lists Alluka's sex as male, two of Alluka's brothers, Illumi and Milluki, refer to Alluka as their 'brother'. Killua is a win big bro.

This is one of those writing choices that im uneasy about when introducing a character like alluka, and togashi is one of my favourite authors but I still dont like this part. Alluka feels like a plot device, Im indifferent to her character personally so it’s not that I dislike her, but idk, the rules and the way it’s used feel so convenient. Especially for killua so far.

It’s definitely this one but idk if it’s a spoiler since this isn’t in the show and we ll prob not get a brotherhood for hxh outside of this version if they enjoy this world enough there are great YouTube videos. They could easily watch and react to if they just want to get to where the writer has stopped

yeah I do get that, like she has such an important ability. But I suppose the author kind of excuses it by having the zoldycks not view her as a family member and almost taboo to talk about, and then killua literally forgetting about her (which still rubs me wrong)

Personally I'm hoping that HxH gets the same treatment as Bleach, which got it's "Thousand Years Blood War" arc animated like a decade after the original show wrapped up. They could definitely just continue the story from the tail end of this show.
