Im a little surprised you didn't comment on just how crazy it is for maomao to say "i couldn't read her at all" about the new concubine. All throughout this show, maomao has been really good at reading people, even upon first meeting(the only real exception bring jinshi, but thesis because insho wasn't presenting his real self to her). Like you've said before, she's basically a detective, picking up on small details

Not too much from what I can recall but I can tell you Maomao has described that based on the sounds she heard from Gyokuyou’s chambers whenever the emperor visited her she could deduce that they were “engaged in some pretty advanced hanky-panky” 😭

To understand why flour is an explosive risk it is important to understand what an explosion actually is. Explosions are sudden releases of chemical and kenetic energy (heat and force). A fire is high on chemical energy release but lacks the rapid release. A Shockwave (like that seen when a jet goes supersonic) is all kinetic. When flammable material is effectively aerosolized (suspended in the air in high enough concentrations) the sudden release of energy cause by it all going up in flames will approximate an explosion (but likely would lack the kinetic force to cause a lot of injuries)

I wouldn't say it's that crazy to be fair. Maomao is excellent at following chains of logic and anything that fits in the framework of a diagnosis because she's highly trained in medicine, but she's self-admittedly terrible at reading people's emotions likely due to her own highly suppressed emotional response to everything.

Yeah the actual spicy stuff is always described around since it's really not that kind of story. The LN does elaborate more on the consequences of this event though which ends up with Maomao being roped into supplying increasingly spicier books for the concubines and the Emperor himself

Yes old grain silos on farms are an example of this, the fine powder in high amounts could ignite and blow up an entire silo.
