2026-09-23 09:00 I cannot get over how great this episode is, the music, animation, usage of colour is all so fantastic! Jiji's transformation not only looks sick as hell, the focus on football and this purple aura coming from the agonizing souls that were sacrificed and demand retribution is such a great idea and so well executed. I also love how much this episode did for Jiji's character arc, you discover that behind all his flowery antics, he hides a lot of pain and has a very kind soul. It's shown in his determination to save his friends, at risk of his own life and his capability to show compassion for Evil eye even though every single person has told him not to. This episode gave Jiji so many new layers and made him shoot up on my nr 1 ranking list of characters for this series, love that guy ❤

First Aira, then Jiji. Tatsu's really talented at making characters you think you're gonna dislike or find irritating, then flipping the reader on their head by showing they're more than meets the eye. And he does it WITHOUT changing them. Aira's still a stuck-up bossyboots and Jiji's still a goofy goober, but there's more to them than that. Someone pointed out to me that unlike Okarun, who was cursed by Turbo Granny, both Aira and Jiji made the conscious choice to befriend their respective yokai.

Not sure if it's ever elaborated (I'm like an episode farther than y'all) but I interpret that the kid was a "chosen" from birth to be a sacrifice. Would make sense why his only goal was to play with a kid

I don't think I've seen any reactor that wasn't won over by Jiji this episode. Tatsu just has a way of crafting characters you think you're gonna dislike, and then showing you there's way more to them than originally thought. Just look at Aira, Jiji, and even Turbo Granny, to an extent. And he does this without changing who they are. Aira's still a stuck-up bossyboots, Jiji's still a goofy goober, Turbo Granny's still a foul-mouthed murderer, but they are all more than that.

aleks le does an incredible job as jiji/evil eye, but let’s not forget about how incredible aj beckles is as okarun as well! there’s a line i think in the next episode where he switches voices mid sentence and it’s insanely impressive

the evil eye spirit looked like a combo of the first albino kid and the kid that was barried alive. i think the first kid wants to play and the later kid (or kids) want death to all humans
