the story of haikyu takes place in 2012-2013. the manga came out in 2012 too. daichi is 18 so i just took 18 years off 2012 😭

The author, Furudate, gave all the characters birthdays with years and Daichi was born in 1994! (…and died 18 years later…nice kill, Tanaka!) Lol I love that you can totally notice the early 2010 technology in some scenes too! (Hinata’s flip phone or Kenma’s PSP that he has in the OVA) so fun and nostalgic! 🥹 Furudate also does updates for the characters still even though the manga has been over for a while. Not giving away any spoilers, but one of my most favorite pieces of merch I got in Japan was the Haikyuu magazine from last year that gave life updates about specifically Bokuto, Oikawa, and Ushijima in their 30’s! 🥹 and that’s why Furudate is the best when it comes to Mangakas!
