Hey folks and welcome to a quick roadmap breakdown, updated on the 1st of September, 2022!Many exciting projects on the horizon, and many projects you've all been waiting for are almost here. Let's take a look what we have achieved so far:

Vanilla Skills Expanded by Legodude17th, first of his name, has been released. This mod allows your colonists to gain expertise in what they do best, allowing them to be even better! This mod also adds 3 new passions to play around with!

Vanilla Lore Expanded, the book on which we have spent over a year of work, has been released. You can get it by becoming a $5 Patron!

You can also check out the free demo version, 60 pages long, by following the link below:

And now, what we've been working on:

Vanilla Animals Expanded - Royal Animals has entered beta testing and should be ready for release very soon. We have already broken down the mod on our Patreon so you can find out what cool new animals the Empire will get, and how they will work!

Vanilla Vehicles Expanded is almost ready to enter beta testing. After testing concludes, it will of course release. It will feature many industrial era vehicles for you to play with - and you can customize their paint jobs too!

Vanilla Backstories Expanded is complete and almost ready to enter testing too, we just need to add a few bits of code to our Framework. Once that's done, it will be good to go! It features many, many new backstories and should breathe more life to your 4k hours playtime!

Vanilla Nutrient Paste Expanded is slowly approaching completion. Kikohi is going through his finals at Uni so work has been slower, which is fine. This mod will allow you to generate nutrient paste and store it in huge vats, and use special pipes to transport it around your base - from vats to prisons, bedrooms, hospitals, stables and barns and dining rooms!

Vanilla Temperature Expanded work has not yet started fully. This mod will feature a centralized climate control unit as a late game research project. You will be able to equalize temperature across various rooms through air conduits that use our pipe network code.

Vanilla Factions Expanded - Ultratech work is ongoing and it's going quite fast. A large chunk of the mod is already done, and it's absolutely amazing. We have smart guns that never miss, their projectiles curve around walls and stuff. We have target painters that highlight enemies for easier killin'. We have androids. We have Altered Carbon stacks and sleeves (as Helixien, author of Ultratech mod, is working with us on this project). We have an ultratech megabase for you to raid. We have greedy tourists. We have it all!

Vanilla Factions Expanded - Empire is a new addition to this roadmap - it's a mod I am enganging the community for. Patrons have been voting on what notions to add to the mod, and we are working hard on creating a whole faction mod out of them - this time expanding the Empire from the Royalty DLC. Expect a lot, is all I can say. New permits, new politics, new ways to engage with royals, host balls, art exhibitions, gossip, cut throats, poison, terrorize... yeah. It will be fun!

The rest of the roadmap is still pretty fluid so I will leave you here!

This is all amazing! The only question I'm curious about is - since the backstory code from HAR is being moved into the VE Framework, will Rim-Effect Core become independent of HAR? Since RE Core already requires VEF, and doesn't add any alien races, only backstories.

Mort Strudel

Iirc a previous roadmap had an adroid faction mod, has that essentially been folded into the ultratech mod?

Windy Writer

Something I've been curious about regarding the Bacstories mod; will it implement any form of customizable backstories? Whether in-game or within the files?

PunkyRoo

SO EXCITING!!

Andromeus

Wait is the vehicles framework launching soon? Great news!

Stim

Aw yes, looks like vehicles is on the horizon. Yes, I know, seriously... been awaiting that one long. Don't think I'm not eager for the rest of the stuff. Backstories expanded does put a good new option. Have you considered backstories that unlock some of the new meditation foci from psycasts expanded? And since you mentioned ultratech... if I read your book right, will the hunters basically be inspired by the hunters from Monster hunter? Should we expect some monsters for them (and us) to hunt? Or would those be going in that little hint you put for arkology?

Trashiest Poss Flint

woah i didnt expect vehicles to get though development so fast after the framework entered open testing, yall do amazing work!

yelar

in the vehicle mod are there any lower tech vehicles like boats or carts? really looking forwards to the mod.

HansTheHuman

Really excited for this month, especially for vehicles and ultratech. I hope it isn't spammy to reattempt my questions from the last roadmap, my apologies if it is. How will vehicles be named? It bugs me that SRTS had specific model names instead of generic names like 'Dropship' or something. Can vehicles be affected by Ideology styles?

SwoogyBoogy

Since ultratech and altered carbon will seem to overlap somewhat will they be compatible or have some form of integration?

Twonki

For Vehicles, can we get Bicycles? :)

Brian Lang

I am irrationally excited about piping hot gruel directly to all my colonists rooms

Slothyraptor

Aw man I really been hoping for arkology it's been on 10% for a long time I'm really interested by the idea of fossils and creatures that died off I was hoping it got some focus too :( well all the other stuff looks amazing and I have all your vinilla expanded mods :)

Habsburg

I am just hyped for the Rim Effect mods mostly, tbh. Are they on semi-permanent haitus now? Or are we going to see them worked on again at some point?

Oleg Oleg

i can comment now! cool.

Out of curiosity, is it known yet where the planned additions to VPE (Insectorator, puppeteer and so on) fit into the roadmap? Are they in active development or are they something that'll be circled back to in future?
