Looking forward to it! Would love to hear about some current artists who are giving you inspiration these days! In an oversaturated digital age, who feels fresh that you admire?

Hello, It's always nice to be able to ask a seasoned artist questions for our own growth. I would like to get ideas on how should I orient my finished works to be able to form an illustration portfolio (let's say in a style close to artists like Peter de Seve or Johnny Duddle, Christophe Lautrette...semi realistic in a sort), you know, the kind of works that could fit in it and what should my goals be to achieve such a portfolio. I know it's a lot that I ask, so feel free to answer whatever you like. Thank you.

Hiya. I would love to get some tips directions on building volume. After I have done my initial sketch, filled out with basic colours I have never merged down my layers as I find myself loosing the feel of the drawing/painting. Ive been using the lasso tool alot more and painting in areas more and designing with light and colour but still seem to struggle with building volume. Often times I find my pictures so light that I walk into highly contrasted situations once I start painting if that makes sense? So some tips on building volume would be wonderful.

Hello Loish! I’m wondering if you plan on critiquing your patrons artwork in the near future? I feel like I’m missing fundamentals in my artwork, but I don’t know what exactly it is that I’m missing. I’m self taught, and don’t have any art friends I can bounce off of; and I feel I lack the perspective and eye to criticize my own work.

I love learning about the things that inspire the people I admire. Would you mind showing us your book collection (if you’re comfortable with that)? Also, do you have a favorite book or one that has really influenced you? I’d love to hear about it!

Loish

hey bea! unfortunately I don't do mentoring/critiquing at the moment. I can offer some quick feedback if you email me your art (loishh@gmail.com) but unfortunately nothing more than that, apologies!

Loish

i love this idea and i might make a separate video about it at some point in the future! It would be too much to talk about in a q&a session though, sorry about that!
