One more full month of winter left to go! How are you guys feeling about 2021 so far? For me it's been a rollercoaster, and at the same time incredibly boring :') Here's a quick review of how this month went for me:

BRIGHT COLORS

I noticed that I’ve been working with super bright colors this month: bright pink flamingos, neon hair, and intensely red fish! I feel like this is saying something about this bland, dark winter and how I’m searching for brightness through my art. There’s something so therapeutic about working with these intense colors and escaping into them during a drawing session.

TUTORIAL TOPICS

I’ve managed to cover almost all of the topics that were in the tutorial polls over the last year! I think it’s time to break it open again and ask you guys: what kind of stuff would you like to see in a tutorial? Anything goes! Drop your suggestion in the comments, then I can start including them in the upcoming polls!

As always, thanks so much for your support! I'll be sending out links to this month's google drive folder in a minute. If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to share them with me through a direct message or e-mail to loishh@gmail.com. Any and all feedback is welcome! I hope you’ll continue to be my patron and enjoy the content coming up next month! ❤

Bun bun

How to add more movement into the paintings maybe?

Katherine Bennett

So this is a bit different, but I would find a tutorial in how to make money as an artist really helpful. How to market yourself from nothing, how to set rates, do you take deposits, how many sketches do you do before the painting, how do you send this final file, do you charge for usage rights, and all the other basic business starter stuff

Nicole Steele

Ideas I would love to see would be creating movement in portraits and things to look for to create a likeness:)

Rohan

•I've loved all this month's sketches and studies with the colours you've used ! I hope the ' bright colour phase' lasts a little longer and we might get to see a few more gorgeous Art Pieces 😊 • Would love to learn more about your approach to figure drawing/anatomy ! As someone who started off with drawing very stylized characters I still struggle with that... 😓

Elise Leonard

Thank you for the opportunity to express ourselves about the next topics 😌 I would love to learn more about “your way to work the composition of an illustration ” “your tips to create great atmosphere / light setup” and “how to stay on model if you have to make a série with the same character”. Thanx again Loish for sharing so much with us :)

Hellena

I would love to see a second tutorial about figure drawing / gesture drawing / figures from different angles since I still struggle a lot with this

Hellena

also a tutorial about animals would be great (for example cats ;)

Hellena

And one last suggestion :) a tutorial about the detail of faces —> facial features like eyes, mouths, noses, etc.

AngieLaura

I would love to have anatomy tutorials and dynamic poses/illustrations. Thank you for your hard work!

Sunshine

First of all thank you for your work :) Tutorial about head and body proportions.

Jo

Thank you so much Lois, for everything you teach us and the fantastic content you provide. It truly is a pleasure to be a patreon of yours!

Jo

oops, entered before I could finish.. as someone suggested further up, i would love to see some more on how you go about drawing various animals! (whether they're land or sea) 💛

Rachel Hanke

I've really enjoyed being a patron all these months, I just love whatever you end up creating and I'm happy to help it happen! I hope you continue your patreon for many, many months to come ❤ I'd love to see something on how you approach a client brief, whether it's really specific or more vague. Any tips on character concepts/designs, creating more narrative driven illustrations, or composition. Thank you so much for sharing all of you knowledge and experience with us! ❤

Chloe

I'd love to see a tutorial about stylising and finding the gesture in clothes from reference! Thanks for all you've shared with us so far!

SpiralHeart

I would love a tutorial on how you design interior spaces! Your interior paintings are so beautiful and detailed. I struggle so hard figuring out what to put in them and how to make it look good.

Aratrika Gangopadhyay

First of all thank you so much, for literally all of this. For sharing with us or even talking and replying to us! It just cheers up my mood tbh! 🖤 Oh and further on about the tutorial? I would definitely vouch for a skin colouring tutorial and gesture drawing! Thank you again! 🖤

Lauren

I would love a clothing tutorial! Thank you again so much!! ❤️

Mellie Test

Thank you! I’d love a tutorial on designing and drawing hair!

Zoë Brooking

I would also love a tutorial about how to stylise, please!

Genesis

Thanks for all the content, I love it! I would love to se videos about how you get inspiration for creating amazing pieces, clothing and poses tutorials, how to create good composition, honestly anything is helpful ☺️✨💖

Kat Craig

Thank you for everything Lois! <3 I think more than anything I would love some tips on composition, and also quicker ways to finish a piece. The last one I completed took me 30+ hours from start to finish and it was only a character waist up with a simple background. :(

Iva Hian

Thank you for all that you give in your Patreon Loish! I have a general question - how do you block out the distraction of social media and all the noise of the world to concentrate on your work? Would really love to hear some of your tips on this!

Amber

Thank you for everything always loish ❤️ and I love how your bringing brightness through your drawings, it does help with this crazy time :) I would love to learn more about perspective, how to render clothes, I have a hard time understanding where the folds go and how to have them look believable :)

megamaster

How to come up with poses from imagination and when to use reference! Awesome content btw. Looking forward to what you make this year

Pavitra Pires

Thanks for all the tutorials so far! Would love to see one on clothing folds and how to simplify them when drawing.

Axel Oil

You can select the tag "tutorial video" and you'll see the posts with all the tutorials.

Axel Oil

I've been thinking about possible tutorials but I'm not really sure, you covered those that I would have requested. something about stylizing and simplyfing shapes would be nice. Also clothing maybe. Some tips on rendering would be really nice, I usually get so overwhelmed when I have to start "finishing" a complex piece. It's a really broad topic and probably pretty tedious to cover but I thought I'd mention it here as well.

Holly

I will also jump on the requests for clothing and animals. I'd also love to see something on hands and feet or other particular body parts.

Loish

oh that's a good one! thank you :)

Loish

that's a good idea. i have a lot of advice to give on that topic! will definitely make another Q&A video soon!

Loish

hey iva! that's a good topic, thinking of doing a social media q&a and addressing this in more detail! I do get really distracted but I try to maintain a good routine/schedule to get stuff done, so that I have to force myself to get away from that kind of input.

Loish

i do think that this month's tutorial will be about that second topic you mention :)

Loish

that's a really interesting topic! I think mental health plays a huge role in our creativity and a lot of artists are super harsh on themselves! thanks for the excellent suggestion :)

Loish

oh yeah, skintones is a topic i'd love to talk about. thanks for that suggestion!! :)

Loish

good one! I'm working on a little step-by-step resource that goes through the basics, so hopefully that will help as well!

Loish

i've actually learned so much from doing character concept art that would be so fun to share with you guys, so that's an excellent suggestion! thanks so much!

Loish

oh yeah, I'd love to make an animal tutorial for you guys :) great suggestion!

Loish

that's a good one! I have a lot of ideas about that!!

Loish

good idea! thank you for this suggestion!

Adri

Gosh my 2021 has just been full of moving houses, it’s been super tiring but worth it! For tutorial topics I’d love to see something about how you approach clothes or, how as other people mentioned, animals! Thank you so much Loish for all the tutorials! I feel like I’ve learned a lot more from you than art classes!

Rohan

Thank you ! I'll definitely check it out 😊

Leslie Brillantes

Hi Loish! Hope you’re well! 😊 For tutorial, I would like to suggest if you’re able to cover topics about the right approach to doing color/lighting studies.. Most of us, I believe, are self-taught and we’re probably not doing the right way on how to do studies.. I know people say practice makes perfect.. but it should be RIGHT Practice does. Hehehe. Hope this gets considered! Thanks for teaching ussss 🥰

Loish

great topic! gonna add that to the list! thank you :)

Lynn Zammit Russell

Hi Loish! Thank you for all the tutorials so far, it has been a real learning experience for me, as I'm sure it has been for many others. As for a new tutorial, I would like to suggest one related to environments or creature studies (like for the snakeskin).

Christina May Art

I know this is a different aspect, but like, how did you go about selling an art book? How much do you charge for commissions? That kind of thing. Like the business aspect.

Liisa

Hi Loish! I would love to see a breakdown of how you draw facial features and other body parts. Like the eyes, nose, lips, hands, feets, and etc.

Jess Barry

Hi Loish! Thank you for doing tutorials, they are all so helpful! I would love ones on animals, hatching, and how to draw multiple characters in one painting that have different skin tones/hair colors (I guess how to get characters to harmonize with each other without them being the same/similar colors).

Tyler

Hey Loish! Thanks for so many amazing tutorials already! I really like your style of teaching. Some really great suggestions here for additional tutorials already, but one I didn't see and would be interested in is suggestions you might have for maintaining the form of a character throughout a painting.

Tyler

Totally agree! I also found those business videos really helpful

Prisskreative

Hi Loish! Wow, I just want to say thank you so much for the tutorials and everything! Love your work. One idea could be How to draw and paint the facial features eyes, nose, lips in Procreate ☺️

Loish

that's a really interesting one! thanks for this suggestion!

Antoine Durrande

thanks for your amazing work :) ! Beside everything said in the other comments, I'd love to see a tutorial on your 2d shapes, the thoughts you put into them. and a more detail explanation on "energy lines" on your sketches.

Cozy Cat (Andrea)

Thanks you for all of your work! I would love to see a tutorial on creating characters in environments (outside and inside). Also maybe a tutorial on perspective? Possibly in procreate? I find it easier to follow you painting vs using the lasso tool. Thank you! :) Oh and maybe how to tell stories with your art? :)

Kevin G.

Loish, thanks for all your great tutorials. I would love to see a tutorial on create such smooth and accurate lines and shapes. I understand that you use an iPad pro and procreate. But i am using a Huion tablet and have yet to come up with a good approach to getting clean lines and line weight build up. Also, how you change up your brush when going from sketch to coloring.

Anne E.

I would love a tutorial on drawing clothes, or on character design. I really want to get variation in the characters I draw and in focusing a lot on anatomy, I personally have a hard time making my figures look interesting with clothing involved. They lose the dynamics of the sharp line in their bodies or their pose. Thank you so much!!

2026-11-03 02:00 I would love to see a tutorial on how you draw animals! Especially in procreate but I'm just really interested in seeing your process when it comes to drawing fur. I'm struggling with simplifying the shapes and having it still look like fur. On another note, I'm really enjoying all of your tutorials and my art has improved thanks to you <3

thank you! I'm glad you like them! and I think an animal tutorial would be fun to make, so i'll definitely be making that at some point this year :)

Loish

good one! thanks for the suggestion!

Klara Art

I would love to see tutorials about animals in Procreate like Julia de Bruin. It will be soo helpful ❤️

Art Bruja

I don't know if this has been requested/or done already, but how to work with colors and make them appear bright and not dull. One of the most challenging things for me with digital art, is pushing color further (basically giving colors life after flatting) Thank you. As a side note, thank you for all the work, thought, time, and care you put into the content you are sharing through Patreon. Its absolutely wonderful

Mimi

How to make animal compositions and animal portraits interesting

Katya Sarmiento

I love all of your tutorials and posts on Patreon! And sometimes, I start to feel overwhelmed with where to start or a topic becomes too difficult for me to execute on and I feel like I'm missing 10 other skills that I need to practice. I would love a "roadmap" of sorts... like "If Loish were to suddenly and completely lose her ability to draw and had to start over from the beginning... where would she start? what would she study first? what would she practice the most? how would she pace herself? what would her expectations be if she practiced X amount of time?" Especially linking to already existing tutorials or resources that could help build certain skills in digital art and Procreate.

Loish

this is an amazing idea. i love it!!! thanks so much!

Loish

ah I'm so glad you liked those haha! I'm posting them in tiktok again in the coming weeks.

Elise Leonard

Maybe someone said it already, but I was thinking about "how to draw expressive hands" like you do :)

TEENA OAKLEY

I second this idea, the videos are amazing but I would also benefit from knowing where to start. Thank you Kat for suggesting this x

Auntee Monica

Thanks Loish! I love how you express movement using things like hair and the environment. Can you go deeper into your process please?

Loish

this is a great idea and a lot of people have suggested it as well so it's definitely on my list! thank you :)

Salena

Hi Loish! I’m loving all of your tutorials, super helpful 🖤 I was wondering if we could see your process or journey involving the use of traditional mediums (like watercolour or marker etc)? I really love how your style is still really in tact and consistent. It’s really difficult making traditional media work when your don’t have the advantages of digital media 🎨🖤 thanxxx !!

N J

I'd like to see painting skin and/or shading for a tutorial if it hasn't already been done. Im having trouble with my portraits coming out flat or muddy looking ;/

Loish

that's a topic that i'm really looking forward to covering!

I was coming here to suggest something similar: a tutorial or advice post about how to grow and improve as an artist, how to identify areas you want to improve and what sort of practice helps the most in leveling up. Thank you Kat for suggesting this! And many, many thanks for sharing your art, inspiration and wisdom with us, Loish!

Anastasia

Hi 😊 I'd love to see tutorial about storytelling maybe and about color. And thank you for the content here 🙏

Loish

thanks for this suggestion! :)

Art Bruja

Thank you, I totally am now. High Five
