My Hero Leveling Ch.02

We all know how the story started. Izuku Midoriya was born Quirkless, but became the inheritor of One for All after All Might saw in him the potential to become the greatest hero the world had ever known. But in this version of My Hero Academia, the world was not only plagued by the rise of super...

I'm sure you can imagine how surprised I was to see an update to this. Really felt like this chapter was lower than the last one and that was also a nice treat. When the chapter started I thought that you were starting off with the last chapter stopped but it seems like Izuku has been doing the workout for a little bit if the level ups are any indication. He got some good rewards but the most notable one was a dungeon key for an E-rated dungeon which he makes relatively quick use of. I'd say that for his first and solo dungeon run he did as well as he could. He got to experience combat on a few relatively easy enemies as well experiencing some of the mechanics such as how the pocket dimension works as well as poison. And then there was the boss. If nothing else that showed a good understanding of All for One as well as how the vitality boosts have helped him withstand the recoil. In games loot is a thing and this was no different. However one issue I took with this chapter was the way you skipped out on showing him defeating the boss and seeing what he got from that. Really getting it instead to a bit of a flash forward and showing what he got. Not going to lie, that felt like a really awkward way of handling things and kind of disrupted the otherwise solid pacing of this chapter. Aside from that, Izuku ends up walking into another dungeon break after a soldier mistakes and for a hero after seeing the gear he's wearing since only heroes have items made from the dungeons. It was an easy enough mistake to make and this time Izuku doesn't really have to do much besides giving Mount Lady a helping hand. Not sure how to feel about her being an S rank hero considering how new she is but maybe there's something I'm not seeing. Although I did like Izuku's analysis regarding how things are supposed to work and how the guild being new was apparent by how badly they were doing. We also had him meeting Nejire And she is the one that pretty much observed him taking the written exam which was certainly an odd way to handle things. I can understand wanting them to meet since she is already a student and one with some notable renown and experience. But having a student do this kind of thing just seems a bit odd when I'm pretty sure you could get someone like Ectoplasm to supervise Izuku. Aside from all that, we got Izuku getting some items from the store as well as him having a rather brief meeting with Shoto which does a good job at showcasing how his boosted attributes have affected him already. Aside from some of the issues I have I was very pleased with this chapter since it did a very good job at keeping the momentum from the last one. However I feel like I must advise caution when doing time jumps since those were some of the things I took issue with in this chapter. I get wanting to keep things moving but moving too fast out of nowhere can feel to abrupt and that can disrupt the pacing like I previously mentioned. And I feel like I will continue to say this but try not to bite off more than you can chew. It is easy to see that you have a lot of driving motivation to write the story and that comes across in the finished product. But those feelings are eventually going to run out and I fear that the things you already have to do in addition to what you want to do Might get a bit tricky to handle in the future. This post ended up being longer than I intended which goes to show just how much I had to say. And I do apologize for making you read what is essentially a short essay.

LordHellock!

Loving it so far but Shadow Monarch power really makes it unbearable and dull. Hoping for more obviously but my enthuasim for it is incredibly dull.

Good chapter also Izuku also starting to realize that he can’t save everyone, that’s part of deal that every hero realizes you can only save what you can and he also realizes how dangerous the world is and he’s going to realize there will be moments when he will have to kill specially dealing with Villains who have no bottom line or Monarchs who treat human life as ants

iamyagami

Oh do not worry about it. Izuku IS the successor of the Shadow Monarch, but his class will be unique to him!

LordHellock!

Eh, it's the same difference to me you know but if you say so.

iamyagami

As long as you give me the benefit of the doubt, I promise that you won't be disappointed!

Akai Kensei

Looking great so far. I'm quite interested to see where you go with this since you mentioned as a reply to another comment that Izuku would be the successor to the Shadow Monarch but would have a class unique to him. Will he still be able to extract shadows despite not being the Necromancer class or perhaps that will have a unique spin too? As always, I really enjoy reading your work and look forward to the next chapter.

iamyagami

I won't spoil anything but it will have a unique spin to it!

Akai Kensei

Ooh! Unique spin. *Love* the sound of that. Very much looking forward to that!

Vu Nguyen

This is really good but given the strict black and white morality of the Mha universe, I can see Izuku need more convincing when dealing with villains like Hwang Ding-Suk and Kang Taeshik whom are known for taking advantage of the lack of surveillance of dungeon raiding for their crimes.

Vu Nguyen

Also you clarify whether the ones dealing with gates to be either heroes or hunters because izuku used both terms in this chapter which was slightly confusing

Brody

Oooh that was a good chapter! I’m looking forward to more!

iamyagami

Oh shit, the 'hunters' term being there is my mistake. Hunters are Heroes basically after all. I will fix it right away! thank you for pointing that out.
