Another sumo tournament over... Not the results I wanted, but a good basho nevertheless. Next time, Aonishiki.

Man, sometimes, I do miss cable TV. Sumo is a perfect thing to just have on in the background while Leslie and I chill on the couch and play Pokopia or Warframe on our respective handhelds. Though, I guess the sumo we watch is just livestream commentary, so maybe we just need to follow more streamers for background noise. Some chill, late night, background noise gaming streamers. That's gotta be a thing, right? Drop some recommendations for us if you have any!

If you want an unpopular suggestion, practicing not having background noise might actually be healthy, especially in the modern social media world where things are designed to constantly barrage you with stimulation instead of focusing on one particular thing at a time. This is kind of a hippie in nature take admittedly.

Playing catchup and saw the sumo comments. Regarding the last basho, I’ve been worried about Midorifuji’s health. They said on day one that he’s had some heart problems and will likely be out for a few months, which probably means he’ll fall down to Juryo if he doesn’t retire. Also worried about Wakatakakage’s arm. He got kachi-koshi, but Atamifuji was rough as shit on that arm the day before he decided to sit out the remainder of the tournament. He was so close to getting Ozeki but then fell back due to a neck injury, and now he seems to be slipping further and further away. As much as I wanted Aoinishki to continue breaking centuries old records, and I was consistently daydreaming that Japan would become so riled up by this baby Ukrainian that the people of Japan would become more involved with the war against Russia, he was bound to be figured out by the more experienced rikishi. I remember watching an interview he did with Sumo Kaboom last year where they asked him what was he doing that allowed him to stay so low but so stable, and he said it was a secret because as soon as his opponents figured that out it was going to be harder for him to utilize it. And I guess he was right. Finally, as much as I find myself not interested in Kirishima, I did enjoy seeing his more personal side after winning. His face has always made me think of someone in middle management who either has no at-work personality or sucks and blames his underlings when upper management comes down on him. Watching him and his family do the banzai together in celebration of his victory softened my heart to him a bit more. Apologies for all of the sumo stuff, my husband and I love sumo but we’ve failed to interest anyone around us into getting into it as well. I rarely get to talk with anyone about it. No one other than my husband wants to hear my idea for a sumo yaoi love triangle story.

What I want for background viewing/noise is a 24/7 channel of naked women being naked. Eating lunch, reading a book, playing video games, going for a swim… Just non-stop naked women. When I look up from my book, or iPad, or video game, I’ll look at the monitor and think “Naked women. Nice.” And go back to what I was doing. I would 💯% subscribe to that channel.
