Coming This Week to Digital Foundry (Week 38, 2024) (Patreon)
Content
Hello there, welcome to the latest news update from Digital Foundry. For the benefit of our newcomers to the Supporter Program, every week we hold a #content meeting first thing on Monday morning, where we share what each team member is up to.
We like to be open about the projects we are working on, but it was disappointing to see that trust we share with supporters was put to the test with the leaking of DF Direct material (without surrounding context of course) over the weekend.
Put simply, I think it's only fair that the #content does the talking so please keep early access material to yourself. If anything is unclear you can contact us here or on Discord.
On a happier note, we've got a lot going on this week, so let's get to it.
John is heading off on vacation this time next week and he is working on something for us in the meantime, but it's currently under NDA/embargo. I'm hoping to coax him back onto DF Direct Weekly on Friday though.
Rich (ie me) is going to be working on a non-console embargoed project this week, but also, work progresses on our benchmarking tools. I'm pleased to say that illusion has finished a custom benchmark run for Baldur's Gate 3 which I'm hoping to see used in our upcoming Arrow Lake S review. I'm really hoping that the stars will align and we'll be able to reboot our CPU reviews in video form by that time.
Oliver will be working with Alex and Mohammed on some Final Fantasy 16 PC content - an overview of the PC version plus optimised settings. We don't have the PC game yet, unfortunately, but thankfully the demo has been very useful - and often updated. It's given us a head start.
Alex has a few projects on the go, starting off with a look at the revised PC version of Jedi: Survivor which is much improved but still somewhat flawed. He's also going to be our point man for the PC version of God of War Ragnarok. Yes, I know we still owe you optimised and console equivalent settings for Star Wars Outlaws... we'll try to at least get the settings table out!
Tom has been designated the tasks of reviewing the last-gen console versions of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, followed by the Dead Rising Remaster, which will likely land next week at this point.
Will is off for most of the week but will be returning to continue the great CPU re-bench marathon in the wake of the recent Windows update that helpfully nullified all existing data!
There's no PS5 Pro update in the above but we are trying to get stuff done behind the scenes, so please be patient with us there. If all goes to plan, we'll have some good things for you.
I realise there's a lot going on, but as always, I'm always open to hearing about your ideas for content and coverage. Have a great week!
