The pre-launch anticipation for Nintendo Switch 2 ratchets up a level as retail units leak ahead of time, revealing the system's boot procedure, a preview of the front end and... not much more. The DF team react to those leaks, reflect on the Switch 2 journey that brought us to this launch and share some initial plans for coverage. Meanwhile, according to reporting from Windows Central, Microsoft has prioritised its bespoke handheld in favour of concentrating on Windows 11 gaming upgrade, Alex takes a look at F1 25's path tracing upgrade and Rich is super-impressed with GeForce Now's native aaaapppp for Steam Deck.

Early access to the DF Direct Weekly podcast? Patreon has now ceased its association with Acast in favour of an in-house solution. Earlier this week, I imported across the prior 215 episodes (and specials) and these are available on Patreon as individual posts. Going forward, the early access podcast will be available as a separate post here, so watch out for that.

Hopefully the in-house solution will work with Android Auto as that is how i sometimes listen to DF weekly.

Anyone else have issues casting these videos to the TV? I have to open the YouTube app now which just subjects me to ask the ads... kinda defeats the purpose of coming here

Yes fingers crossed - the great thing about Acast was that I could access the feed in my usual podcast app (Pocket Casts) - I haven't really looked into it further, does in-house solution mean Patreon will supply links for third party podcast apps themselves, or does it mean (why do I feel this is more likely...) you have to access the episodes thru the Patreon app only?

The Knight Who Says Ni!

Looks like it will only play in this app, will see if i can the app with Android auto tomorrow

El Barto

That should work. I've been listening to podcasts through the Patreon App for a while now and it connects nicely to Android Auto. Not much there in terms of functionality but it does its job

Okay only had audio version listed in my Patreon app until 7pm est thought they weren't releasing video for a min

DyeHardX86

Yeah usually I sync them to my Series X and it kept saying youtube isn't enabled? Gave up in that and just started the vid in YouTube and then searched my history on the TV instead

Speaking on the differences between SteamOS and Windows 11 for gaming I think it's important to point out that SteamOS is an Immutable OS where Windows is not and can have core system files changed and reconfigured I think John's idea where they would distro Windows Game OS as a separate version is smart

The Knight Who Says Ni!

Confirmed the Patreon app with play the audio only version of DF weekly on android auto.
