Update: This video has been updated - the strobe warning is more pronounced, an error in voiceover has been corrected and individual frame-time charts have been added to the Alan Wake 2 test.

Original Post: Hi everyone, as mentioned earlier - some All-Supporter early access action, as what was initially going to be a pretty simple test for FSR4 INT8 on the RX 6700 turned into something hugely more time-consuming and extensive.

The blurb: a new version of FSR4 was recently leaked by AMD (!), opening the door to high quality upscaling for any GPU that supports INT8 machine learning instructions. That means a range of products ranging from every RDNA 2 or RDNA 3 based GPU, including Steam Deck and ROG Ally handhelds. Rich takes a look at image quality and performance across a range of devices - including Nvidia (double !) and even ballpark simulations of how FSR4 could run on Xbox Series X.

Is it just me/my PotPlayer/my headset or is the audio all over the place? 🤔 I'm watching the HEVC version and in the 2nd half of the video I can here volume going up and down.

Hey Richard, don't know if its possible but if i may suggest putting the strobing lights warning more prominently on the screen.

Chicken Point

I struggled to follow what was going on in this video. I wonder if the screen recordings could have been labelled differently for the sake of donkey-brained viewers like myself. I am happy, upon request, to provide more detail about what I found confusing.

Hey, it seems like the HEVC link is not working, keep getting a 404

BespokeEP

Ya I was going to say, you should not only have the warning on a screen with a 10 second countdown, before the strobing, but you should indicate the time when the strobing stops. Someone who suffers from epilepsy doesn't take much to trigger an episode. Something to consider for future videos with any strobing

FYI, this video (both the unlisted and public versions) play at max 1080p resolution on the native (WebOS) YouTube app on my LG G4 even though the video has a "4K" tag there. Also, DF Direct #235 plays at max 1440p there, but both public videos play at 4K max on YouTube app on PS5 (Pro) and on macOS (Chrome) as expected. All other public 4K videos play at 4K quality just fine on the LG YouTube app, so it's specific to those two videos. Are those using a different 4K codec or something?

More likely it is YouTube taking time doing their encodes

TheBrainninja

idk if they've posted about it on Discord, but maybe there's an issue with their HEVC workflow? I know HEVC encoding has generally exasperated them over the years (one reason I think Rich wanted to try AV1 a while back - I assume held back for "broad compatibility" reasons) [edit] the link works now, I think they fixed the few I saw not working. Thanks team!

Hi! My English isn’t very good, so I’m not sure if I understood everything correctly :) Is the first FSR4 prediction for the PS5 Pro considered good or bad? Thanks a lot!
