This has been available to Retro Supporters for some time. Today, on the anniversary, we're opening this one up for a bit of (slightly) early access to all other paid tiers.

November 22nd marks the 20th anniversary of Xbox 360 - the console that enjoyed unprecedented success for Microsoft, and is closely associated with the origins of Digital Foundry itself. To celebrate the occasion, Rich sourced an untouched Xbox 360 Core System, left in storage for 20 years. John is on unboxing duty, discovering the wonders that lie within that signature Xbox-green box, then hooking up the console to a CRT to re-live the 2005 launch "Blades" dashboard experience.

This video goes public on November 22nd, ahead of a bigger Xbox 360 DFR mega-episode - but Retro Tier Supporters can watch now.

Takes me back… To the one time I preordered from Amazon. The console going to arrive launch day, I had the games, Then the day before “sorry it’s been delayed”… It arrived at the end of January when I conveniently was at the opposite end of the planet in Patagonia.

Let's hope it didn't immediately red ring!

In more modern times, Amazon has never let me down to be fair! I think I got mine from HMV!

I got my Triple from Virgin. My Wii was Game at the time when we all laughed at the silly name, and then it launched and I could have resold it for a significant uplift I’ve used ShopTo since 2012 and they have not let me down on launch day hardware since.

Great video. I remember getting mine when gears came out because I could not get ahold of a PS3. My xbox red ring after 4 months. I did not know at the time what it meant. So gamestop took it off my hands. Got like 170 trade in credit towards a PS3.

This video should probably have a flashing light warning

I know you probably meant this seriously, I didn't watch the video yet, but I couldn't help but see a red ring of death pun in this :D

I actually cracked into some unopened Xbox 360 accessories recently (pristine in their pleasingly green bags) as I needed a composite to scart adaptor and remembered there was one in there.
