After an extended period as a Retro tier exclusive - two months, in fact - John's Unreal retro episode will be going public today and is available now for watching/download on all tiers.

The blurb: in an age where PC games were transitioning into the 3D accelerated era, Epic MegaGames' Unreal was a truly spectacular experience, pushing graphics to new heights. It's a very special game for John Linneman, here revisiting Epic's history, the evolution of Unreal up until its 1998 release date, how the game presented via its various rendering methods and how the game looks set to enter the path-tracing age via a remarkable work-in-progress RTX Remix mod.

I always was more into Unreal than Quake. I liked it more due to its "narrative" approach which Quake was lacking. And every time when I see the Unreal logo I think of the game (not the engine), my Voodoo card(s) and, other great 3D games of that time like Schleichfahrt. 😅

I remember that box vividly, with the CD case showing. Sadly I never had money for a computer that would run it or the game itself. I was lucky to have an N64 and PS1, so never got to play Unreal. Regardless, very cool video.

Ahhhh, this was the first PC game I ever played, I had a 3dfx Voodoo GPU, it was so amazing back then, I loved this game! Great video John, a real trip down memory lane, thank you :)
