Last week, a replay video of Ride 4 on PlayStation 5 'went viral' - and we wanted to take a look at the actual game. Does the in-game action live up to the stunning replay camera work? Are we really looking at the next level in photo-realism on a next-gen console? Or are we looking at a combination of rendering choices that perhaps flatter to deceive?

Ride 4: PS5/Xbox Series X - Is It Really The Next Level In Photo-Realism?

Having garnered attention for its truly impressive replays, does Ride 4 bring us closer to the photo-realistic ideal? And did DriveClub Bikes actually get there first? The download link for the HEVC version is broken. (I also doubt the file is actually only 4.07GB.)

just a few hours ago i was thinking if DF would unravel this myth... and tadaaa it's here. You guys rock!

Well if the x264 encoded Video has an average videobitrate of 110.4mbps (12.9GB), then the x265|HEVC encoded Video with an average videobitrate of 32.4mbps should actually have about 1/3 the Filesize. But yeah that doesn't change the fact that the link to the HEVC Video leads to a 404 Not Found Page.

I think typically, DF's HEVC encodes are (at best) half the file size of the AVC counterparts. However, if they can actually manage 1/3 of the file size of this video's AVC encode without compromising the quality to a noticeable degree then I'm always ready to be pleasantly surprised.

i get what you mean ;) well if it should be half the size they have to encode the video with an average videobitrate of 55 Mbps. Which is something i also would prefer compared to 32.

Both downloads eventually fail and are running at a very low speed.

The dev commented on this and said it only looks that real in replay mode. I own it on series x and while it looks good it certainly doesn't look real unless it's a replay and the track is wet.
