Happy Friday everyone! I did re-watch Captain America: Civil War! I honestly don't expect much connection at all, BUT it was so wonderful to check that one out again. There'll be some brief thoughts at the start of the next episode. [Direct link here.]

Please enjoy!

100% agree with your afterthoughts on this episode. The way Daisy talks to Mack is pretty upsetting. There was no after-credits stinger for this episode because there was a trailer for Civil War instead. Slingshot is between S04E08 and S04E09. I wouldn't call it a must-watch, but hey, it's fun extra AoS content. 🤷‍♂️ The Slingshot episodes are all on the official ABC Network YouTube channel. Here is an official YouTube playlist of them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xgQUoVfiL8&list=PLDe0CguuqcMBVtZJk0iCNoSblixvAt4BY Please avoid the comment section on those videos, I'm sure they are rife with spoilers.

There's no post-credit scene because originally it would have been a trailer for Civil War. We also get a direct reference to Civil War courtesy of Hive - "only billionaires can create iron suits, only the military can create super soldiers, which can only lead to a war of it's own". We've known for quite some time that Daisy is incredibly powerful, but under Hive's influence (and the subsequent lack of conscience) we're getting a better indication of just how much she holds back. How she defeats the Kree reaper is brutal - breaking all the bones in his arms and legs, and then disintegrating his spine! No wonder Radcliffe looks terrified of her! The whole conversation between her and Mack is heartbreaking, even more so when you realise that Hive only amplifies feelings she already has - so even if Hive's influence is why she 'believes' this now, she felt at least part of it beforehand. Jemma thinking Lincoln is being 'a lovesick fool' is interesting - surely she realises that Fitz would do exactly the same for her without hesitation, which can't make him feel all that great. Slingshot is a web series that was released in six parts on YT - there's a playlist on ABC's YT channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xgQUoVfiL8&list=PLDe0CguuqcMBVtZJk0iCNoSblixvAt4BY), and it's probably also on the Marvel Entertainment channel

The slingshot series is on YouTube I think. Most episodes are 5 mins or less. It is basically like the Groot series. All together the series is about 30mins The start of the episode had Hive origin. The Yucatan is where the monolith was found so it makes sense that he was from there. Hive makes a funny comment alluding to civil war premiering next. "Only billionaires can create iron suits only the government can create super soldiers and that can lead to a war of its own." Just a funny comment for fans. The show usually puts the trailer or TV spot of the movie coming out that year instead of regular end credit scenes. The best scene in my opinion is the Daisy and Mack scene. Mack has really shown alot of growth since season 2. Becoming partners with Daisy helped him accept powered people in this world after being so afraid of alien things last season. He tried so hard to save her. Radcliffe is just hilarious.

A couple lines before that Hive literally uses the phrase "Civil War". It's one of the more heavy-handed dialog tie-ins, but it's still a fun nod to the audience. 😅

Until you mentioned Civil war I never really caught Hive giving hint about super soilders and ironman suits. I gotta respect Mack he took that punishment from Daisy just to try and get her back he is one tough dude. Seeing the true original first "Host" that became hive was interesting backstory makes me wonder how many people are actually inside his body.

It could be that Daisy feels the things she feels now, not because she felt a little of it before, because she is rationalizing her position to match with Hive's agenda. If you think about Hive's POV and Daisy's POV (before infection), they were opposites. Now, they're in sync so she has to make sense of her previous situation to fit her new one. Sort of like how a conspiracy theorist will twist things they knew before to fit their current theories.
