I’m glad you enjoyed the movie. I absolutely enjoy the relationship between Jules and Ben. His calm and centered demeanor really helps her collect herself. I love it when he just matter of factory says, “We’re just gonna have to steal her computer.” Then they break in and solve the problem. The moment we find out Matt is cheating is so sudden and unexpected. The director did a great job setting us up for that gut punch. And I see it got you too. My personal notes on the film. My dad has carried what he called a “hanky” every day of my life. He’s in his 80’s now and a stroke survivor but he still has a hanky in his pocket. He and my mom will be celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary this year. But it was this movie that reminded me of that fact a decade ago. I do carry a handkerchief myself these days. And I had a coworker who burst into tears in the office and I still remember her reaction when I reached for it, “If you have a handkerchief I swear to God.” But it did help her. It is important to be aware when you hand a woman your handkerchief you never get it back. Personally I am not a fan of Jules and Matt’s make up scene. It wrapped up a little too neatly. Almost like we have 3 minutes left in the runtime and we need to address this. I think Jules was owed more time to express her hurt and sense of loss. Though I am glad Matt was able to look inwards and recognize it’s his shortcoming and cheating was his choice. No one made him do it. I was cheated on and tried to make it work. I couldn’t because she was truly unhappy with her life choices. She didn’t want to be my wife or a mother. I like to think that Jules and Matt learn how to communicate and successfully move forward and Ben not only shares some of the load with Jules, but teaches Jules to rely on her staff, to cele responsibilities. She seems to have a capable and willing team. Gosh, I might rewatch this again this weekend. The movie just relaxes me and your reaction added to that feeling today. Thank you!
