Hi everyone! Ahhh man, it is really fun watching this section of this show at the same time as Andor Season 2! 😁 Same, same, but different, different. [Direct link here.]

What do we call Framework Ward? FrameWard? 😂 Anyway, I was not expecting to like him so much.

Please enjoy and I'm looking forward to your comments!

Already had so many S2 references in this arc, and now we get the return of Sunil Bakshi! Think you caught most of the 'on-screen' references - Whitehall, Mallick etc. The i'n memoriam' for John Garrett is a clear reference to Bill Paxton's death which happened around this time (I believe someone else mentioned that there was an 'in remembrance' tag for him a couple of episodes ago when it originally aired). It's great having Trip back, and good that BJ is able to slip back into that role so well after a couple of years away. I'm not sure if the showrunners considered bringing back Hunter & Bobbi during this arc, however it's quite likely that Adrianne Palicki wouldn't have been available as she was cast on The Orville before S4 started airing (though it didn't air until after S4). Framework Ward is such a 'what we could have had' - seems a tag ironic that one of the first people we saw Ward kill in the real world to reveal his 'true' nature is the person who could have made him into the good man we see in the Framework. I love Coulson's speech at end of the episode - the combination of his words and the slow build of the AoS theme, finally coming together as he says "My name is Phil Coulson, and I'm an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." gives me chills every time. As I've mentioned previously, there's a lot of direct and indirect real world political references to what were then current events this season (and remarkably many could still be considered current) - many of the more overt ones occur during this arc, such as the direct calling out of 'alternative facts'.

"My name is Phil Coulson, and I'm an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." Fuck yes!

Grant Ward *barf* I also don’t have the Dalton heart eyes either so 😂 This season is so good, I’m gonna be sad when it ends… happy that you’re digging it!

Ophelia mentioned the true nature of our characters and she does have a point. Look at Ward. In 3x09 Coulson and Daisy discussed the root of his actions are caused by him not being able to regulate his strong emotions and we see bits of that in this Framework Ward. Coulson is able to calm him a bit by ironically placing his hand on his chest where he caved it in while saying don't let emotions cloud your judgement which was exactly why he killed Ward in the first place.

Didn't even make that connection! Crazy and so cool.

Ahh thanks for the info about Adrienne! And yes, I dig real world parallels.

I love the smile and look Daisy makes at Coulson when he said "Heard you were looking for some enemies of the state". That was such a Coulson line hahaha. He's started to be more like himself this episode, taking command after Mace died. I love Framework Ward. He's a great way to give us closure with his character after his death last season. Like Daisy, we've had this oportunity to see him as we always wanted to see him: A good guy. Daisy was right, he had good inside him all along, but he was missguided all his life. And with a slight change to his past (Victoria Hand recruiting him instead of John Garret), he could've been really different.

You are correct that Trip and Simmons had a flirtation, but mostly on his part.😁 I feel this Doctor Fitz knows about the real world, but he just views it as a parallel universe rather that one being code and the other physical, 'cause those are the terms that Ophelia describes it to him. I think at this point, Ward is the only person outside of our SHIELD team that knows about the Framework. As you said, Simmons just blurts stuff out while thinking aloud and Trip doesn't know the details, but he's always down for the cause.

What a unique way to have a redemption arc for Ward still! So many people were hoping for that during Season 2. Obviously, that never happened, but now we got it a little bit anyway. Trip and Simmons were totally vibing during Season 2! This time around I'd say it's completely one-sided on Trip's side, but it's so much fun to watch! 😅

Yes, Coulson was definitely acting a lot like his real self in this one! Oh man, as a huge Ward fan, how he is in the Framework makes me so darn happy. So great to see Brett like this.

Haha yes sorry I didn't mean to imply that Jemma was fully into it!
