For whatever reason, the dance sequence puts me in the mind of Bohemian Grove. The welcome elite come to gather, chuckle, drink, relax... and then sacrifice someone to a giant owl god. Which they claim is just a dummy for the show of it but it's the fact they still uphold that tradition that's creepy AF. So whatever that dance was supposed to lead to... It has to be Eagan tradition of some kind, which is why Dylan had to wear the Kier mask because only people worthy of Kier's "love" can have "love"? Idk, just my thought process.

Chris Thom

I think it was actually going to get more pornographic than that. The reward party seemed to be a chance for employees to have a full-on sexual experience. But yeah the Eagan mask was to remind them exactly who sanctioned the party. Another layer of control.

The only thing I know now (not the first time) was those four dancers represented the four tempers (they were in the painting on the waiting room of the Wellness department, with Kier standing above them whipping them) and the cat & nine tails on the bed had the nine core Lumon principles that Irving said he knew all of, in the first ep. It WAS creepy AF though and I would've ran out of there, if I was Dylan, even if I didn't have a plan to activate the Overtime Contingency. So, was Dylan, as Kier, supposed to whip those dancers? Yikes.

Thadman

You asked if Ms. Casey said the same thing to every Innie, but one of the things she said to Irving was, "Your Outie loves the sound of radar," which we know, now, is his dog.

Nathan Jasper

Most likely, yes. He probably was supposed to "feel" and "love" how Kier did and "tame the tempers". Whip them into submission and smile while doing it. Kier must have been a sick man. Then again, he did start a cult based on a procedure that forces people to only focus on him and only learn his teachings. Every religion's dream.

Haha and it's probably even worse knowing I've pre-recorded all of the Sept Severance releases too. 😂

Chris Thom

Wait you're done with season 2 already??

Chris Thom

Love all the tension built in the leadup to the finale. It's a perfect segue way. Props to Ben Stiller, this was one of the most compelling ends to a season I've seen in a while. He's a really solid director. Escape From Danemora (HBO) was also really good. Patricia Arquette was in it as well.

No, not the whole season, just the episodes that will be going out while I'm gone.

Chris Thom

Dylan always acted more experienced than the others and more vulgar with his language. I think he already partook in the festivities multiple times.

Nathan Jasper

oh wait you're right! He does insinuate that he's had a waffle party before!

Joe

I have been watching along with you. it is getting more difficult to just not keep watching since all the episodes are out there. Very interesting. Also, every time I ask my 12-year-old son what happened at school, he responds with some version of “nothing,” “I don’t know,” or “I don’t remember.” I am starting to think he may be severed.

Chris Thom

Lol. But yeah I think that's part of the satire of the show. All the different things we do in life with an element of dissociation. Sometimes people or kids really want to keep their work life separate, or there are things that might be embarrassing in one context, but not the other . But I'm sure there will be times when your kids will absolutely want or need your advice about things happening at school. But until then, that separation might be part of the fun or education.
