I appreciate that these two episodes were relatively chill in comparison to the three that came before it.

Thanks so much for watching with me and I'm looking forward to your comments below! 😊

Ep6 might be one of my fav episodes. I love Eugene so much. Seeing the medics pov is fascinating to me. The fact that Roe (and I'm sure most medics during the war) had to run from foxhole to foxhole to get to wounded soldiers while everyone else takes cover from the shooting always seemed unbelievably brave.

Thanks for the reaction. Yep, that was like a turkey shoot. As noted in the episode, those German soldiers were SS. Winters was promoted to commander of a battalion. The battalion included Dog Company (D Company), Easy Company (E Company), and Fox Company (F Company). Eugene said he was half-Cajun from Louisiana. I knew Cajuns in SE Texas near the Louisiana border. I also lived in Louisiana a few years and became friends with several Cajuns, some from the heart of Cajun country whose parents spoke broken English (w/Cajun French being their primary language). The SS ("Schutzstaffel" meaning “protective echelon”) were the black-uniformed elite corps and self-described “political soldiers” of Nazi Party. Founded by Hitler in 1925 as a small personal bodyguard, but grew to much more, "having immense police and military powers, becoming virtually a state within a state." The SS was headed by Heinrich Himmler, "who built up the SS from fewer than 300 members to more than 50,000 by the time the Nazis came to power in 1933. Himmler, a racist fanatic, screened applicants for their supposed physical perfection and racial purity" and "recruited members from all ranks of German society."
