Loooooooooooooooooooooove this movie. Just watched it on November 5th. And a few days before that on Kaliwali's channel. Aaaaaaaaand now I'm going to watch it again. Is that sad? Am I sad? Fuck it. Awesome movie. Good shit.

Definitely not sad watching favourite movies over and over again!

Great movie. When it came out, we could draw parallels to current situations, the post-September world, and I imagine UK/NI situations earlier. And now, even more so. "Every time I've seen this world change, it's always been for the worse". Still, we have progress to go with our setbacks and can keep trying. Natalie Portman did really get her head shaved in that scene. No matter how many times I hear Valerie's letter, I always have a big cry. Depressingly beautiful is right.

Remember remember the 5th of November Hugo Weaving dominated the role of V and this also has to be one of Natalie Portman's finest hours as well!

For me its one of my all time favorite movies top 5 or 10 I normally watch every year and each year i swear I catch something I had not noticed before. Watching this back in 2019/2020 during pandemic times and with a certain president it hits really hard and now again minus the pandemic and a certain president and how things are going it still holds up. For me the scene of her being locked up is so emotional with the letters and finding out they are true, but for me it was meant as a parallel to what V went through but through her situation. She wanted to live without fear and unfortunately this is the way it had to be for her to live without fear, was it fucked up yes, but it ends symbolizing both sides, V is vendetta to tear down the old system and Eevy societal change "God is in the rain" The more I watch it the more emotional it is since I know whats coming but it always hits hard like a happy cry or sad depending on the scene. PS.... ordered the 4k movie again getting it today lol. 4k is so great for the sounds of this movie a lot of dialogue too hear . loved seeing you smile as you watched it :) along with all the other emotions

The relevance of this movie honestly terrifies me. It hit home fairly hard when I saw it in the cinema at release and to see the direction the world has gone in since... These were some truly brilliant performances in this film. John Hurt as you said, but in so many ways Natalie Portman's progression through torture to being reborn was outstanding. The commitment to even allow your hair to be shaved on camera (knowing you had only one chance to get that shot right). While I agree that there might've been other ways to get Evey to the place she ended up, I'm not sure that V was capable of thinking of one. I am, however, glad to see how much he clearly hated himself for doing it and recognising that he was a monster, even if he felt it was necessary.

Haha, I've watched it thrice now this month! I still got something new out of it this time around, so not sad at all.

"Immigrants, Muslims, homosexuals ... They had to go." Sound familiar? Agree good visuals. V is articulate. Natalie Portman = good acting and nice to look at (with and without hair). You said: "There is always going to be people who think facism is comfortable." So true. Some people do want an authoritarian as their leader -- but then can be adversely affected by having an authoritarian leader. The Guy Fawkes mask (also known as the V for Vendetta mask or Anonymous mask) is a stylized depiction of Guy Fawkes (the best-known member of the Gunpowder Plot, an attempt to blow up the House of Lords in London on 5 November 1605) created by illustrator David Lloyd for the 1982–1989 graphic novel V for Vendetta.

Thanks for watching! And yes, I think the people who are most comfortable under an authoritarian are the ones who are convinced that anyone "below" them is undeserving, despite the fact that they're one paycheck or accident away from being right there themselves. It will always be all of us vs. the 1%. And the 1% put in a lot of effort to make sure that a large amount of the 99% don't figure that out. Culture wars are put forward so that a class war doesn't happen and the internet and algorithms are so good now that people can be fed that slop on a daily basis. I say, vive la revolution.

Great reply. That is exactly the situation.

Of course the irony being that the gunpowder plots end goal was even worse that what was already there. They wanted absolute monarchy power, which was going backwards to what had been reached at that point, and to install specifically a young catholic queen who would give the catholic church extreme power and control.
