I don't think I can make it through a single episode of this show with dry eyes only. Sheesh.

Thanks so much for watching! 🥰

When Webster volunteered to go as translator (getting Leibgott out of it) he was earning back some respect that he’d lost by being gone for so long. Those men had been in constant danger and Webster was acknowledging that it was his turn. And Leibgott extending the hand to help Webster on the truck at the end, was a signal that Webster had regained his status with the company.

Yeah I noticed Fassbender quite a bit here! He looks so different so I probably have missed him in previous episodes.

While I liked the Speirs run and the cathedral scene (including the discussion between Lipton and Speirs), my favorite moment (which you also seemed to appreciate) in Episode 7: "Alright, I want mortars and grenade launchers on that building till it's gone. When it's gone, I want 1st to go straight in. Forget going around. Everybody else, follow me." --Lt. Speirs As for Episode 8, Winters made the right call.

In episode 7, Lipton could not be the C.O. of Easy Company b/c Lipton was a seargant, not a commissioned officer. Commissioned officers ranked low to high are lieutenant, captain, major, colonel, general. Enlisted personnel ranked low to high are private, corporal, seargent. Commissioned officers are ranked above enlisted personnel. Have you considered reacting to (or including in a poll) "The Pacific" (2010) (10 episodes)? As you may know, the same executive producers Tom Hanks and Spielberg as Band of Brothers. A companion series to Band of Brothers.

Yes, a lot of folks have been recommending The Pacific. I might give myself a few months break in between, but definitely another series I'd be interested in watching and reacting to. Thanks for clarifying re: Lipton. So there must be a whole process involved in going from an NCO to a CO then.

At the end of episode 8, Lipton did go from NCO (seargent) to commissioned officer (lieutenant) by a battlefield commision.

Then my point still kind of stands, that he *could* have been C.O., no? It seems like the commissions can be done anywhere and that the conditions of war would mean that they would need to be issued quickly in some cases. Like if all of the COs were WIA or KIA in the same day, could those commissions be done out in the field relatively quickly afterwards? We saw Sink out there with the men a number of times, he's the one that has the ability to do those? That's basically what I meant when I kept saying that Lipton could be a C.O. I knew that he wasn't in the proper role to just step into those shoes, but I thought that it was fairly straight-forward to make him one and then your first comment saying that he *could not* be, made me think that there was a longer process involved. I think I understand now.

Clay F

I am no expert. When I said C.O. that meant commanding officer of Easy Company. Lipton could not become commanding officer of Easy as an NCO or as a newly-commissioned officer. Lipton becoming a commissioned officer (lieutenant) (due to a battlefield commission) -- he still couldn't be commanding officer of Easy b/c a newly-commission officer that served as enlisted in a company is separated from that company, maybe not immediately but in the short term.

From everything I have read and seen, Webster was welcomed back warmly when we returned. Their attitude towards him was a bit dramatized for the show. Everyone said that Webster was a good soldier. While he wasn't the kind of guy who was first to volunteer or wanted to be out front for any mission, he always followed orders and did everything that was asked and required from him. Now that you have watched the whole series I can tell you how Webster directly influenced Hollywood and pop culture. It is mentioned that Webster wrote a non-fiction book about sharks. It was titled "Myth and Maneater: The story of the shark". Years later an author read this book and was inspired to write his own fictional book about a shark terrorizing a small coastal town. Hollywood saw the potential for a great movie based on this fictional book and a movie was produced, with a young talented director behind the camera. The director has had a long and distinguished career, not only directing award winning movies, but also producing great television. Eventually, that director helped produce what is arguably the best miniseries ever created for television. That non-fiction book was titled "Jaws", and the movie that the book inspired was directed by Steven Spielberg. The same Spielberg who helped to produce "Band of Brothers".
