What a phenomenal mini-series. I'm excited to check out the documentary soon!

Enjoy the reaction (feels weird saying that for this batch of episodes, though) and I look forward to your comments!

You had asked about the Spade insignia on the side of the helmet. Each division of the 101st Airborne had a different card suite painted on them. The 501st had the Diamond, the 502nd had the heart, the 506th had the Spade, the 327th Glider had the Club. Other Divisions within the 101st, like Engineer, Anti Aircraft, Artillery and Division Headquarters had other identifying markings. I've really enjoyed watching along with you. I haven't commented to much and can't wait until you see the unofficial 11th episode.

That’s so cool you reacted to this series. Enjoyed your reactions. My favorite episode is 7. Episode 1 is at my bottom. My favorite series all time -- rewatched several times. (Chernobyl is great too – so are your reactions). Keep The Pacific (2010) on your radar. Don’t blame you for taking a break. Regarding episode 9, Edward "Babe" Heffron said: "If anyone ever tells you the Holocaust didn't happen, or that it wasn't as bad as they say, no, it was worse than they say. What we saw, what these Germans did, it was worse than you can possibly imagine." "We salute the rank, not the man." As you may know, Hermann Goering was an early associate of Hitler. Goering joined the Nazi Party in 1922 (when the Nazi Party was nothing) after hearing a speech by Hitler. He was quickly given leadership positions in the Nazi Party. Later, Goering became head of the German Air Force and second in command of Germany at the end of the war. He stole art treasures from across Europe for his personal collection and was sentenced to death at the war trials in Nuremberg but committed suicide before the sentence could be carried out.

Glad you watched and enjoyed this show! I highly recommend you watch a movie called 'Valkyrie' , I feel is an important movie as it is about the Germans who were against Hitler and tried to do something about it!

From what I understand, the Allies had received intelligence that camps existed, but either didn't know or didn't believe the extent of them or what was happening, so that information was never distributed beyond the top echelons (i.e. people like Churchill, FDR, Eisenhower) - the troops on the ground certainly wouldn't have known until encountering them.

Just to add to something you mentioned about the actors reacting to the camp. They intentionally kept the actors away from that set and only when they started to film were the actors able to come on set so that they could get their real reactions. Much of the personal interactions were the actors' first time seeing and touching the prisoner actors. Many of the thin and emaciated prisoners were actually cancer patients who were receiving chemo therapy at the time. Many, if not all, of them never got to see the show when it played

I feel like there's tons of "Hey did you know"s I could go on and off about with this show, but two cool things that not a ton of people know: • When the German officer offered Winters his sidearm, Winters did in fact take it and then later realized it had never been fired. He ended up keeping it and cherishing it for that fact. • Spiers had a very interesting military career, and it's even speculated that he did some mysterious secret three-letter-agency work while he was working as a liaison officer in East Germany during the Cold War
