This episode was nearly a movie! Lots of big reveals here. Can't wait for the rest!

Like I say in the outro, I won't be able to watch the Christmas Day episodes right away. I'm not sure if I will get to them before New Years or if I'll watch the rest of the season after the New Year. I will keep you posted when I do the schedule for that week. 😊

Personally I feel Noah's best acting was by far season 2 with the Mind Flayer possessing him, having to go between being himself and being evil, the seizures, the screams... seasons 3 and 4 definitely had that cardboard actor feel whereas this season he for sure is giving it all he's got So my theory for future events: My theory is that canyon on the Upside Down side is where the wall is. Henry has been allowed dominion over his little town but outside of Hawkins he's a big fish in a very big pond. Everything outside the wall is the Mind Flayer's Dominion and he knows that he can't mess with that thing. That's why he looked so scared. He knows if he goes beyond the wall he has no real power. All this Upside Down bleeding into the Rightside Up began as the Mind Flayer's agenda. But Henry has his own idea. And that's where his little army of vessels comes in. He reckons 12 vessels (or 12 Angry Wills) will be enough to take on the Mind Flayer. Overthrow the king, become the new king, kill his pet projects, boom. He's now the ruler of the Upside Down and he could then finish taking the Rightside Up as well. So I think the next three episodes is where Vecna is ultimately defeated and the big finale is taking on the Mind flayer once and for all, which we will most certainly need Kali, Eleven, and Will all three as the Rightside Up Trinity (working on a name lol)

Oooh yes, let's theorize! That's a good theory. It sounds like you're leaning towards the path of Vecna/Creel having been controlled by the Mind Flayer since he's been down there instead of the other way around (which is what Vecna told Eleven last season). I can buy into this, but I also have my own theory that branches off from yours. I said in this video that I was going to remind myself of what we were told and shown about Henry before he was sent to the Upside Down by El and turned into Vecna. I watched a S4 Henry/Vecna YouTube video. There was one major thing that stood out to me. I had forgotten that the Creel's moved to Hawkins. We see Henry test his abilities as soon as they move in. I think the show implies that Henry is born with them and his presence in Hawkins is just amplifying them. The show also implies that Henry is a little psychotic and to be fair, killing your family justifies that. But I wonder if that all could have been avoided. 🤔 We don't know what Henry was like before he came to Hawkins. I believe Max when she says that her and Holly are in Henry's memories. But Hawkins doesn't have cliffs/caves quite like what we're seeing in this season. The only cliffs we've seen (S1 around the quarry) were completely different. Now that I'm reminded that the Creel's moved, maybe these cliffs/caves are from where they lived before. This is the only time we've seen Henry/Vecna react this way, so something must have happened in these caves. Did Henry go exploring one day and stumble across a gate to the Upside Down? If so, then was Henry the Mind Flayer's very first victim (which would give a secondary, and awful meaning to "One")? Was the MF always in control (Henry killing his parents)? Is the MF still in control of him, or was Vecna truly powerful enough to take control over it and everything else within the Upside Down like he claimed to El in S4? If my theory about Henry getting his abilities from a previous experience with the UD/MF is correct, along with your theory that the MF is in control over him, then Vecna would definitely want to destroy it once and for all. But I do wonder if there could be a different reason for the "why" behind that. I always like a good villain origin story and it would be way more fulfilling to me if Henry wasn't just a natural-born psycho child, but only became that way because of the MF. I re-watched that cave scene with Henry/Max and while Henry certainly appeared terrified when he looked at the cave, I also can't help but feel like he looked very emotional too. Whatever the cave represents has to be a bad memory, but maybe with some sadness (maybe even regret) mixed in. That is definitely the thing I'm looking forward to the most, is what this cave means to him. So to go along with your theory, I can see the vessels being gathered by him to take on the Mind Flayer. I can also see the Rightside Up Trinity tackling that too. But what this results in, I'm not sure. Would Vecna die? Do we lose any of our main characters? I know some are anticipating a prominent character death, because we've had plenty of deaths in this show, but none from our main group. But if Vecna is the one in control *and* has nefarious goals in mind like the ones you are thinking of, then yeah you have a strong theory going.

I love that theory that it's a memory from before they moved to hawkins, I had not considered that! If that's the case then you may very well be correct that he found a gate and perhaps had the same experience that Will did. He keeps saying that he picks his victims because they're weak of mind and weak of body so maybe he picks his victims based on how he sees himself at that age or how others treated him at that age. That's a great compromised combination of both of our theories, his first experience was against the Mind flayer but outside of Hawkins where he found a gate in those caves and then he started becoming weird and his parents moved to a new place to get a fresh start because that's the answer to everything, move somewhere. Maybe if he was being haunted by the mind flayer, it had a hand in influencing where they moved as well and told him Hawkins was the best place... I don't know that might be a stretch. I would also encourage you to see if you can find a copy of stranger things the first shadow which is the stage play, not only because it's a fantastic play from a technical standpoint but also because the duffers did confirm it's Canon and it may give you even further insight and expound your theory. Though who knows they may just explain it all in the next few episodes anyway for people that aren't able to go see it or have no intention to. Whatever happens, the next four episodes are going to be quite the spectacle. Crazy that all this started a decade ago. It's like Harry Potter all over again, watching these kids grow up.

Oh, there's a play? Interesting. Though kind of annoying they did that and confirmed it's canon to the story. But I think I might wait until after the show is done before I go read it. Yeah I'm definitely excited for the rest. I like your theory that if he was haunted by the MF, the MF had influence in getting them to Hawkins. And same for how he picks the kids.

I definitely did NOT foresee myself getting so hooked on this show, but I so am now. New episodes came out yesterday and I'm HYPED to see how this all ends. The youngs were right about this one. What a creative series. Loving all the 80's references. There are multiples in almost every scene. But it's also very much it's own story, which I appreciate.
