Nice Reaction, domi, like always. But, please check your mic. The sound is really terrible :) .

Raven Dark

Yep, that sound is awful. When you talk, it kind of does this... jump in volume. For one second, it goes suddenly super loud, then goes back to normal, then jumps again. It does it the whole way through. Sorry. :(

Pauline Robertson

Probably in the minority here but I loved Buffy's speech 😅 Anya hates how much they need Buffy lol she's so bitter. Also, I didn't really have any issues with sound, tiny bit here and there but didn't ruin the reaction or anything.

Xander didn't like cryptic messages because someone, usually him, always got hurt. Well, this time, he was right on the money. The first one that the 'exchange student' attacked was him.

It seems in this episode that several of our characters are trying to get comfortable in their new roles- Buffy as general, Spike as an ensouled demon, even Andrew as a "guest-age". Buffy's speech to the potentials was definitely harsh. However we as the viewers see her cry as she digs Chloe's grave and know how much she is struggling. Unfortunately the others don't see this more vulnerable side and therefore judge her more harshly (yeah, I'm looking at you, Anya). That said, Chloe WAS weak, and that is why the First was able to prey on her inner fears and insecureties in order to convince her suicide was the best way out of her situation. Buffy was right to tell the others to be stronger than that- though she could have used better wording, it's true (puppies and kisses aside). Also, Buffy is not wrong about Spike. She needs the demon warrior in him to step up if he's going to help her win this fight against the First. The howling, vamp-face, bloody-mouthed Spike was a bit over the top, but it got the point across. He's fully embracing his inner demon while still (hopefully) not abandoning his soul. It also seems Kennedy is embracing her, uh, inner sargeant. Domi, suffice it to say you are not alone in your feelings about Kennedy. She is definitely not what one might call a "fan favorite". Current reactors are thrown by her use of the word "maggot" in this ep but it is a little shout-out to the war movie Full Metal Jacket, which most viewers would have known at the time. That said, I agree that she is way too comfortable sharing her thoughts with the Scoobies and thinking she is already part of the "inner circle". The vision the Shadow Man showed Buffy was not just general demons in the Hellmouth... they were all Turok Han (Uber Vamps). Like, thousands or tens of thousands of them. Knowing how hard they are to kill, this is a huge problem for Buffy and the gang. I'm not positive about this but I do think it has been mentioned here and there (probably by Giles) that demons and gods existed on Earth long before humans. If not, it almost surely has been mentioned on Angel.

Kennedy is the worst. I can’t stand her and she was responsible for a suicide.

Pauline Robertson

Thank you for putting into words what my mind could not 🙌

Someone who does seem to be embracing her new role is Dawn, as researcher and translator of ancient Sumerian texts. Also, she is able to get panicking Willow and snarky Anya to cooperate with one another and figure out a way to get Buffy back safely. Go Dawny!

Captain Hammer

I can understand someone not liking her. But saying she was responsible for a suicide is a bit much. She wasn't bullying her. Hardening training is common in militaries. Making someone hard increases their chances of survival when real battle starts. Sadly, the first has an eternity of practice at psychological manipulation and tactics. That cannot be accounted for in all situations.

Ron Fehr

You were concerned that Willow and Kennedy may break up, but it looks to me like Kennedy just needed to process what happened to her. As for the gang not being happy that Buffy was back, I think it's possible that they saw the expression on her face. She was not happy.

Ron Fehr

Agreed. It wasn't so much Kennedy's words that got Chloe to kill herself, but as you said, the First was experienced at 'psychological manipulation,' burrowing her words into Chloe's mind.

Alex Wright

Giles said demons ruled the earth before humans back in Welcome to the Hellmouth if I recall right.

Michael Smith

Buckle up!!! The rest of this season is some of the best television to ever air!!!!
