the time is finally here y'all. i'm going to try and avoid the mental breakdown i'm having over finishing buffy so soon, and focus on how excited i am to branch out and do something different! it's time to pick what show will be "replacing" buffy so...

please comment below any and all shows you'd be interested in seeing me react to.

feel free to comment as many shows as you want, there are no restrictions (re: genre, length etc.)... anything is fine for right now, as long as you think i'll enjoy it. pls only comment the tv-show name though. don't include any details (actors, storylines)... lets keep it vague.

for those who are curious, there will be more detailed info on how the show will be picked in the comments below (don't want to make this post enormous).

so excited for our new adventures! <3

-dom

ps: personally, i'd love to watch charmed, veronica mars or firefly. i've been dying to watch these and i think it's a vibe you guys would like? let me know!!

Domi E

hi friends, so here are the details on how this is going to work. i will go over all these suggestions and make a poll in 2 weeks (on friday the 24th), with 5 shows for you guys to chose from! basically, i'm hoping to make a poll with whichever 5 shows are being mentioned the most... but i want to make sure i'm watching a show i will enjoy, since i think that's what make the reactions fun for both me and you guys. therefore, while i'm open to hearing any and all opinions (i am SO curious about it), i want to make sure all shows that make it to top 5 are shows i'm very interested and enthusiastic about watching. which means i might add 1/2 shows that i'm personally curious about watching, depending on how this goes. i'll be monitoring comments in this post throughout these next few days as often as i can, to be giving quick "feedback" (aka: if you suggest a show i've already watched, i will let you know so people don't keep suggesting that same show). lets do this y'all!!!

Christine

Veronica Mars, Alias, The OC

Marshall Robertson

Please react to Veronica Mars! It filled the void that Buffy left since it premiered a year after Buffy ended. I'm sure you'll love it! ❤️

jasonm

I'd suggest Firefly, Dead Like Me (if you can find it), The Magicians.

Richard Ashton

1. Covert Affairs. 2. Taken (The Spielberg series). 3. Defiance (The TV Series). 4. Alias. 5. Broadchurch. Unless, of course, you’ve already seen them.

Bixgirl1

Firefly is a great watch! Ohh and the Untamed!! It's a chinese drama and so so good! Grey's Anatomy is pretty awesome too

Matthew

Firefly is kinda a must watch. Especially since it’s only 14 episodes. But if I were going to recommend other shows I would recommend Fringe and The Americans

Bri

Yay! My recommendations are, if you want excellent tv: I'd be here for any and all of these! Veronica Mars Severance, The Good Place, Lost, Parks and Rec, Ideal, Parks and Rec, Taskmaster, Firefly, Spaced.

Koz

I'm recommending a pair of shows that were absolutely meant to be viewed together, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess. They definitely are much better as a package, and, in fact, Xena starts after only the first 13 episodes of Hercules. (It was created as a companion show to HTLJ.) I can't know for sure if you would like either one, but I believe it's well worth your finding out.

Ariel17

No particular order: 1. Agents of SHIELD (though I think you have some sort of deal with Shan from ASR to watch this already in exchange for her watching The Walking Dead) 2. Charmed 1998 (if you already wanna watch this then I support this) 3. Avatar The Last Airbender (followed by it its sequel series LoK) 4. Stranger Things 5. Fringe

Domi E

just fyi: i have watched parts of alias (i know you know 😉)— aka the amy acker episodes ahaha

Domi E

i’ve unfortunately already seen greys, A CLASSIC!!

Domi E

i remember reacting to the fringe pilot and really enjoying!

Christine

☺️ I remember…but I still think you would enjoy the early seasons. It’s quite a ride.

Domi E

i WISH i hadn’t seen the good place because 🤯🤯and i’ve seen parks too- great show! lost is deffff on my list, i started watching the first few eps a few years ago, don’t really remember much except that i really liked it!!

Domi E

OMFG thank you for the agents of shield reminder, yes i have a deal where i’ll be reacting to that pilot!! and i’ve already seen stranger things unfortunately :(

Ariel17

No worries and personally AoS is my favorite show after Buffy/Angel (yes I consider them both equally great). So I’m very much looking forward to see you react to AoS. And idk what you thought of Stranger Thjngs but hopefully you enjoyed it and maybe willing to react to the final season which I think is coming out next year… :-)

Funkachute

Fringe would be perfect. Also Hannibal.

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

I suspect that a good chunk of the greater JW fanbase will want you to do Firefly/Serenity. It's me. I'm that chunk of the JW fanbase.

Ariel17

Other random show suggestions or possibly things you’ve already seen but just putting out there: 1. Game of Thrones (followed by its spinoff HotD) 2. The Last of Us 3. The Gilded Age 4. Unstable (Netflix) 5. Shrinking (Apple TV+) 6. X-Men ‘97 (why not fuck it…it may not be your thing but honestly imo one of this year’s best written TV shows)

Girl4Music

‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ should replace ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’. It’s a very similar type of show in many ways. Same themes, same subjects, same in-depth character representation and development for both the main and side/season regular/recurring characters. And there’s a few surprises in it you’ll absolutely love since you also loved them in watching Buffy. It’s my favourite TV show of all-time and I’d be very grateful if you would cover it and react to it. Even if only on Patreon. If not that - I would say ‘Wynonna Earp’ but I know you’ve already seen it so… Any W-LED and WLW shows would be a good replacement for Buffy. Also, as Koz said,… just like how Buffy and Angel were meant to be watched together as companion shows to each other…. So is Xena and Hercules. Just keep in mind that the W-LED show is the spin-off show. I’ve never actually seen ‘HTLJ’ all the way through, only ‘X:WP’ but wouldn’t mind watching it all if you’re reacting to it all. I might find more appreciation for it that way.

Tom Tattershall

I'd like to see a show that gets few to no reactions such as: The Magicians, Lost Girl (2010), Gilmore Girls, Hex (2004)- if you can find it

Steveo

1. OG Roswell, even was paired with Buffy on the same night at one point. 2. Game of Thrones 3. Last of Us

Shaun Stacy

Agents of SHIELD, Veronica Mars, Sense8

Pauline Robertson

Veronica Mars, Lost, Agents of Shield, Superstore, Six feet under. I think you'd love all of them ❤ I would say Gilmore Girls but I think you've already seen it?

Bri

Ooh, both of those would be good!

Denni Caid

I'm always going to say Agents of SHIELD. Always. It may beat out the Buffyverse as my favorite show. Firefly for sure. I've heard good things about Fringe, would watch along with you for the first time if you go that route.

Ron Fehr

I don't watch much TV anymore, but I wouldn't mind watching you react to Firefly. You probably know that it's only one season long, so it would be a good interim show, if you can't decide right away.

Domi E

if there’s interest i can look into doing stranger things final season! and im v excited for AOS!!

Domi E

i have seen the last of us and shrinking (AMAZING SHOWS), but not the rest! i did start game of thrones a few years ago and watched the first few eps but never followed through! have def been meaning to give it a try

Ariel17

Just some more random shows you may never have considered before: 1. Andor (it’s a Star Wars series but probably the most far-removed from the rest of the Star Wars events and feels more about the people and their struggles living under the fascist tyranny of the Empire, which I think resonates the most with even non-SW followers) 2. The Flight Attendant (HBO Max) 3. The Crown (Netflix) 4. Looking (HBO)

Domi E

i’ve already seen lost girl (i love it!!!). gilmore girls has been in my list forever!!

Domi E

i remember starting to watch sense 8 back in the day but didn’t follow through, that’s a great idea!

Domi E

surprisingly so i actually have not seen gilmore girls!!! but i have watched superstore :)

Pauline Robertson

Adore Superstore ❤ in that case I'll add Gilmore Girls lol

AdventuressJamie

So excited for a new show 😍 I would definitely go with Sense 8 or Orphan Black. Or even the Gaiman universe with Sandman or Dead Boy Detectives.

Sean Ellingham

Agents of SHIELD & Firefly are definitely top for me. The Good Place, Lucifer, Orphan Black and Dollhouse would all be on the list had you not already seen them (bad Domi!) Down for Charmed, assuming you mean the original, but would rather not have Veronica Mars for quite a while as it's already being done by Alley and Riley so quite fresh for those of us supporting y'all (and they're also only a couple of episodes apart). Other suggestions would be The Americans, The West Wing, Daredevil, Agent Carter, Bosch and The Man in the High Castle

Sean Ellingham

Domi has already seen Orphan Black unfortunately

Dave Ford

Well, obviously Firefly - it's nice and short - I'd suggest watching that anyway, while you ponder on what to watch afterwards. My pick after that - maybe dollhouse, or Veronica Mars.

Matthew

I agree Sense8 is actually a perfect series for Domi.

Domi E

I do LOOOVE orphan black!! There is a new orphan black show coming out that i’ve been debating reacting to 👀

Domi E

i have seen lucifer, good place, orphan black, and sorta watched dollhouse (the amy acker eps- duh). sorry!!! bad domi

Symmachus

The 100 is my first pick. Buffy is my favourite show. The 100 is my second favourite. I’m sure you’d love it.

Kazz (Charmed4lifekaren)

Agents of shield (my all time favorite show), OG Charmed, Lucifer would be good, not sure you would like it but Supernatural could be interesting to see your perspective just because of the type of show it is in and things that happen.

Dave Ford

Oh - okay you've sort of watched Dollhouse? I'd consider Fleabag

Dave Ford

Then I'd consider Fleabag

Ava Sinclair

I will die of happiness if Domi does Sense8! I think she would love it!

Ava Sinclair

If you've only sorta watched Dollhouse I'd love to see you react to it. My number one suggestion is Sense8 - it's the only show I love as much as Buffy and I truly believe you'd be obsessed. And I also vote for Veronica Mars - I know other reactors are watching it but I don't care; I'll watch it with all of you! I personally didn't like Charmed at all; just my opinion though!

Ava Sinclair

I adore Xena - would be so great if it makes the short list! Hercules was fun but Xena is much much better. Watching them both for continuity could be good though.

Ava Sinclair

Oh please Santa, I have been so good!

Raven Dark

A lot of the things I would have mentioned you've already seen, but there is one show that I'd love to see you react to, which hasn't been mentioned here. The Handmaid's Tale. Have you seen it yet, Domi?

Raven Dark

I was going to recommend Lucifer too, but I think she said she saw it. I think she said it in a reply to someone else (whine). And I believe Domi would love Supernatural.

Domi E

i have unfortunately watched for fleabag!! also love it

Domi E

i have seen t100🥲

Domi E

i haven’t!! i saw the pilot many moons ago but don’t remember it at all

Raven Dark

Oh, I would die of happiness if you reacted to The Handmaid's Tale. It isn't getting a lot of reactions, either. It's crazy dark, but it's a fantastic show and totally worth it.

Ray D

Freaks and Geeks, Veronica Mars, Dollhouse, Smallville (although that’s a long show)

Brandon Thomas

Magicians as someone said earlier, and Smallville

Girl4Music

I agree. Xena is the superior show for many reasons but a lot of people on here seem to think that Xena and Hercules are meant to be watched together just for first-time reaction continuity I guess. And I’ve never seen Hercules in its entirety so it might be a good thing for me to do so alongside Domi if she reacts to it.

Girl4Music

Sense8 is a great one. However, there’s a few things to bear in mind. It’s on Netflix. Netflix abandoned it. If it wasn’t for the fans rallying behind it, demanding a conclusion, then it would have just been cancelled just like so many other of their shows with LGBTQ representation in. Do you really want to support Netflix in watching it on there? It’s just a thought.

Girl4Music

‘My Life Is Murder’ might also be a good one to react to too if you want to watch a more recent Lucy Lawless show to react to than Xena. Especially because there’s a 4th season coming out soon. I think you might enjoy that because it’s a quirky little detective show with badass female lead characters in. One of which being Lawless. And anything involving Lawless is always a great thing to watch. Still hoping for ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ but it might be a bit difficult to find with it being a 90’s show.

AdventuressJamie

Oh I did see that too, that would be a great option. Hopefully it’s as good as the OG series. Maybe a pilot idea?

Morbit

Firefly is the obvious choice, as most other reactors also move onto that after they finish Buffy. Seems to be a natural transition, which will also help keep a lot of your same viewers while hopefully picking up a few new ones.

Ron Fehr

Any suggestions I would offer would probably be older shows compared to ant that reactors are watching. I stopped watching regularly probably in the late 1980s, and I doubt that what I watched would be the kind of shows that interest you. Lately though, I've been watching classic Doctor Who, and although I don't recommend watching those episodes, perhaps the revived show, if you haven't already seen any of it.

Ron Fehr

For more David Boreanaz, there's always Bones.

Garrick Smalley

I'm on the band wagon for Charmed, Firefly, Xena, Alias, Dollhouse and Agents of Shield. A few ones I have not seen listed: Babylon 5, Good Omens, Sandman, Farscape, Agent Carter, and Heroes. If you can find them: Dark Angel (2000) and Kindred: The Embraced (1996)

Just Jayy1

I want you to watch a movie. Cruel Intentions (1999) TV show - Charmed

Texas

Firefly and Veronica Mars are great ideas. I know you sort of watched Dollhouse, but if your memory of it is similar to your memory of Angel then I'd still say it is worth reacting to. Another short show I'd like to see reaction for is Tru Calling. Doctor Who (2005-present) is fantastic, and for something a little more unusual you could watch Farscape.

JOSE HOSANA CARVALHO DA FONSECA

Me again. Firefly & Fringe. You will Love both. I really cant see you loving Charmed tough. I know a lot of people love it but I think its not your beach.

Domi E

i’ve seen good omens already! actually did reactions to s1, but didn’t continue through s2

Domi E

i’m considering adding movies to the schedule with some sort of regularity, if it is of interest to y’all!

Domi E

dollhouse memory would be a lot worse than angel’s, i think!

Just Jayy1

I don’t care about any other movie 😂

GenU

My perennial pick, 'Dead Like Me'.

PT Gunn

Firefly The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Covert Affairs

Domi E

i just started doing reactions to maisel!

sventje

A lot of great shows have already been mentioned, The Magicians, Sense8, and Veronica Mars being my top choices. Other favourites (that hardly anyone has already reacted to) would be Station Eleven or A Murder At The End Of The World.

Ray D

I like Dollhouse so much more than Firefly as far as Whedon shows (I’m just not a “western” guy). But maybe that’s just me. Sci-fi > westerns (and I know firefly has sci-fi too but the western aspect is more prevalent)

Charles Maxwell

I'll 2nd choices like Firefly, Spaced, and Parks & Rec. If you are at all interested in exploring older shows of a similar vibe there is the Highlander series or Forever Knight (a Canadian Vampire-Detective show). If you like the new Doctor Who enough, I mostly enjoyed going through the original Doctor Who series -- at least the ones that still exist. If you are adverse to dated special effects, it may be too much for you.

Domi E

i’ve actually never seen any episode of doctor who!! so it’s something i’ve definetly thought about

anise

I don’t know if ur interested in animated shows at all and it might not be your thing but avatar the last airbender, arcane and nana are great

Garrick Smalley

Cool, I'll watch it. Have you done Sandman? I really want to know what you think of.... no spoilers.

Georgina Cussans

Charmed is a good pick! I’ll recommend The Good Place as I don’t see many reactors doing it, a lil different but my all time fav show, its also short enough (4 seasons) that it wont feel like a huge thing to take on if you need a break from shows with 7+ seasons 😅

Domi E

i reacted to arcane and loved it. i’ve always considered reacting/watching avatar- not really my style but really curious to watch!

Matthew Swisher

I would add myself to the list of people who would like to see a reaction to Charmed(1998) or Agents of Shield. But seeing as there is no restriction to genre, my personal recommendation would be Farscape.

Brandon Thomas

Good place is great. on my top ten greatest twist

Eric H

Please, Please watch Firefly. Glad I was not the only one to mention it here. Such a wonderful and unique show.
