Once again we see Caleb is strong and quite fast but he has no fighting skills at all. He has no agility and he had to lose.

Why would they kiss?! They are forever each other's truest love! They will never be 'over each other'. They will always kiss when they get together after time apart. Buffy doesn't hold grudges (Dead Man's Party). Plus, last episode, she did say that "it wasn't like they were wrong". But she did tell Spike that he gave her the strength she needed to get the Scythe. He put her into the right frame of mind. Go back and listen to the scene with the white haired woman. She explains who she was.

Mmmmm..... listen to the character explain who they are. Who would have thought.

They were getting sutures in case they're "getting stitchy with it" literally means in case they have to stitch up some wounds, but the joke part is a reference to the "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" song by Will Smith. I'm pretty sure they explained the old lady in the episode, but I'll be quiet in case it wasn't. You'll figure it out on rewatches. Really disappointed that I have to miss the post show. Maybe I'll catch the tail end and get to ask questions that you've answered 10 times already. Or maybe you'll do a second one.

It's quite possible that the First using Buffy's form was just the producers' way of saving money. They already have Sarah, so why hire others to play the First.

My take on Giles in the bringer/basement scene was that he was trying to take back some of the authority that he used to have.

In the last episode, perhaps Buffy realized that the key to getting past Caleb was not to hit him, but to avoid him. Her speed in doing his punches is what finally got her to her goal, to find what he had.

I always considered the old woman as one of the watcher watchers.

I find a lot of the character moments great in this episode but overall I think the story of this season is a little bit of a mess overall. They never make us care about the potentials as individuals, the first is kind of weird villain because it isn’t corporeal, they introduce Caleb late in the season, this ultimate slayer weapon Scyth pops up out of nowhere, and this old woman shows up saying there is this coven that’s been watching the watchers just to die right away? These all feel like weird things to me. And then Angel shows up and their kiss feels so weird and forced and just to give up an ending to this episode where we are questioning Spike. It’s just weirdly disjointed as an overall story to me.

“Why would they kiss?” It’s called fan service. Whedon himself admitted to it. Just something for the shippers. It makes no sense but enjoy it.

Although nobody said the actual words, I truly think some of the Potentials were sorry. Amanda, for instance, realized the mistake that they made, when she said "I think we got punished." And Kennedy immediately admitted that things did not go well once they asked Faith to lead. To me, it was close to an apology. And look how Buffy handled it. She was not upset with them. She understood that people make mistakes, even saying that it could just as likely been her who would've led them into the trap. So perhaps there was no more that need to be said.

Ron Fehr

About the Potentials, I think think were were given a little time to care about some of the earlier ones, like Amanda, Rhona and Vi (enough to care about them a little bit). And let's not forget Domi's favorite unseen Potential, Dominique. Lol

I liked the conversations with Xander/Spike/Faith when Buffy came back. The one with Giles and Willow was disappointing to me, apart from the "communication skills" line, that was all that was mentioned with two of the people she was closest too? hmm.

Ron Fehr

I'm sorry to disagree, but there are people who would be able to handle betrayal. Of course, it takes discipline to get rid of that mindset, but growing up in church communities does teach one to let go of those feelings, although I doubt that all churches teach that.

Had to finally watch this one before you post the finale today. 👌🏻
