Dear Buffy writers, this is not what I meant when I said I wanted more Cordelia screentime. This episode is a direct attack to me as a person and I do not like this.

PS: Random question.... But I did want to create some more Patreon exclusive perks (and potentially as a thank you for coping with my slower Buffy posts), so I was thinking of possibly doing a drunk rewatch of a Buffy episode (you guys would pick)... Let me know if you guys think that would be interesting or not. Might get my best friend (who has never seen Buffy) to join for some extra madness.

This isn’t a complaint. I enjoy watching your stress. (We won’t get into my weirdness for that.) But it is strange that the only relationship you aren’t upset about is Cordy and Xander (I get it, even though I find them pretty cute together – I think Xander has really “humanized” Cordy) but Cordy, I think, is the one the most hurt by all that happened. I agree 100% about Alyson Hannigan with Spike. It may be the best performance in the series and there’s a hell of a lot of competition. Willow’s action is very much in line with her personality. This may be one of the first indications but it comes out more and more and more. (I know you’ve seen that by now.) You made a great point, however, the last episode: cheating on the SAT – now *that’s* something she wouldn’t do. And I don’t think Willow wanted to be with Xander over Oz – not at all. She wanted to have everything, like she says, like Xander gets accused of, but I don’t think that Xander still “wanted” Buffy; unfortunately, for Cordy I don’t think he really wanted her (not enough). In “Homecoming” he says to Willow that he respects her and Oz too much to do this thing they’re doing. Meanwhile Cordy is confessing to Buffy her love for Xander. As many reactors have said, it was not a stable relationship, ever. (It is often called toxic – I’m not sure I agree with that. As I said, I think Xander humanized Cordy but I also think she humanized him. It was just temporary.) Your English is incredible, by the way. No way I would not know it wasn’t your first language if you didn’t bring it up, often when you come up with a phrasing that just shows you’re thinking on your feet.

Drunk Rewatch sounds great! Normally I feel that Lie to Me is a great standalone episode, but not so sure about the drunk factor here. Drunken fun might lend itself more to Gingerbread or Band Candy.

Ron Fehr

Oz and Cordelia finding out was inevitable. Let's see how they handle it.

Steve Quast

Haven't watched yet, but I can't imagine what in this episode could have upset you regarding Cordelia. I guess I'll just have to watch. :P

Steve Quast

Cool shirt. How did you get it done? PS. Just think, if you were a vampire, you wouldn't have to worry about your circulation.

Negative

I love this episode, because who doesn't love seeing Spike again? The whole scene with Spike talking to Joyce is just great, and Spike taunting Angel is hilarious. The only real downside about this episode is that he left again.

Domi E

Yeah that’s a good point!!

Domi E

Haha I wouldn’t know either!!

Domi E

That’s a valid point 😂and i embroidered it! basically sewed it kinda!

Domi E

so true!!! SPIKE WE MISS YOU ALREADY!!! come back to us!!!

Steve Quast

Yep. No Dru in this episode. AND Spike left again! That...was not....permitted! Once again I back you up on this lawsuit. We need to systematically go through their finances and sue them for every penny they have. THAT will teach them to engage in shabby writing!

Steve Quast

And of course, your questions regarding Wesley, Darla, etc. will be answered in due time.

Steve Quast

I freaking love the mayor! LOL And I can't remember if we've seen it before, but we officially have a name now. The sign on his door says Richard Wilkins III.

Steve Quast

I admit it. I bought the Mayor's soul. Got it for a good price on ebay.

Steve Quast

"I gave her pretty little dresses with pretty little girls in them" That line is too fuck up to be so funny lol.

Tim Pierce

The go to episode for drunk rewatches is Teacher's Pet. However, if you want to get your friend interested in Buffy, I would go with Halloween.

Justafox305

unless you watch lie to me and take a shot everytime Zander or Angel seems jealous over the new guy. lol

Justafox305

great reaction, fav moments..how hype you got when they gave a shout out to Brazil and that you said whoever wrote this episode is a Sociopath lol

Anitusar

Maybe it is because I am German and I am lost in translation, but why do you think English is the big bad this season. You mentioned a couple of times that it is bad :D The positive of the Cordy "funeral" is that everyone realizes how important she has become and killing her is just wrong!

Steve Quast

The conversation between Spike and Joyce is everything this episode lol. And tell me you haven't wanted to see Spike, Buffy, and Angel team up against a phalanx of vampires. As Spike would say, "Now THAT was fun!" "I feel like that would work for Dru." Yeah, I mean it worked for her the first time when Angel tortured her.

Steve Quast

As you might have guessed every other reactor gets majorly freaked out by the Cordelia funeral fake-out lol. You should watch some of them now that you've made it this far. But you, being a student of advanced Angelology, are now immune.

Steve Quast

At the beginning of the episode, everyone was happy and Spike was sad. By the end, everyone else is sad and Spike is the only one who's happy.

zerofk

rofl @ English being the big bad

zerofk

While it's fun to see Spike again I feel he's lost some appeal by being more of a comedic character this episode. He was more "fun" as a genuinely threatening bad guy IMO. Sure there were still some scary bits in this episode but they're always followed by comedic scenes. I love how Buffy opens Giles' compass, sees a mirror, and immediately checks her hair. So in character. Fun fact: James Marsters was told exactly how long he could let his hand burn, but he pushed it too long and got burned pretty bad. And he didn't want to tell anyone for fear of no longer being allowed to do any more stunts, so he hid it and drove himself to the hospital. And yes, that funeral scene was mean - and it makes for great reactions :-D

Antonio

It's such a brief moment in this episode but I'm glad you mentioned it, the bit where Spike threatens Willow with a broken bottle. I swear Alyson Hannigan's not even acting there - that look of hers seems about as real as being terrified can get. And yeah, the funeral scene is just mean, like you said - can you imagine what it's like for people who haven't already seen Angel like you have!

Domi E

haha sounds like a fun drinking game 😂

Domi E

thank you so much i completely agree steve! let’s do it!

Domi E

hmmmm hmmm hmmmmm we shall see

Domi E

HAHA glad you have it. hope we can trust you with it 🤪

Domi E

oh halloween would be a really fun one!!!! i love that!

Domi E

ahahahah. and yes that’s a totally true upside to cordy’s fake death! i love (?) that they did that! hopefully people can appreciate her now!

Domi E

It was too great!!!

Domi E

Advanced Angelology 😂😂😂I’m a beginner AT best considering my very selective knowledge. And just went to see that bit of Alley’s and lol THE POOR GIRL

Domi E

well.... as long as spike is happy ;)

Domi E

oh my god that’s crazy that he would do that! so dedicated!! and it’s so interesting you’d say that since i’m loving this new side of spike but it’s an interesting POV!

Domi E

it really was too heartbreaking, i could feel her pain. alyson is amazing!! and oh gosh i can’t truly imagine the breakdown i would have if i didn’t know she was alive!

UTU49

Dear Diary, Today is a good day because one of my favorite reactors uploaded. (^_^)

Domi E

aww, i hope they didn’t disappoint 😜

UTU49

:D

Richard Ashton

Yes!!!!!!!!!! I'm somewhat interested in that but repressing emotions because - English.

Nate

Love the t-shirt. Really love the scenes with Spike and Joyce.

Domi E

Thank you!! And yes I love them too!!

Jordan Haddow

Loved your reaction as usual. Also, don't worry about your english. Honestly, I've had times where I forgot english isn't your first language. Something to keep in mind about this show is that the writers have something specific in mind with regards to vampires and what that means. The basic thing is they have no conscience. So it doesn't make much difference to Spike if he is treating Willow to a coffee or sticking a broken bottle through her face. The writers like to remind us of that fact as can be seen here. Spike is a bit odd, as the Judge pointed out. He said Spike had some humanity in him. That was his love or Dru. So he's good to those he loves. I also like his little super power of being able to read Buffy like a book. He spent barely any time with her and knew her secret instantly. I do have to say, I love episodes like this one. i like to think of them as clearinghouse episodes. Where the true villain of the show isn't the bad guy, but all the secrets and hidden things the characters have built up over the season. Spike really was just the catalyst that exposed all the secrets, which did way more damage to our good guys than Spike did. Also, with regards to Willow. Willow always comes across as pure and innocent, so her trying to cast the spell can seem shocking, but the show has shown she isn't really that pure since the beginning. Right in the beginning we found out that she hacked the city's servers before Buffy even showed up. So, she has proven she doesn't quite have the sense of right and wrong we tend to think she does. The next episode is EPIC (in my mind), so I can't wait to see your reaction.

Jordan Haddow

That was super long already, but I just wanted to add that Faith isn't a main character (no in the opening credits), so she can't be in every episode. It's basically a money thing. I agree with you though. I would have been super awesomely happy if Faith got her own spin off show and we could see her all the time. Imagine that. Buffy, Angel, and Faith shows all intertwining with each other. How epic would that have been. I know the actress playing Faith leads in Dollhouse, but I haven't seen it yet and so don't know if she plays like Faith or not. I'm thinking not from what I've heard. I'm planning to watch it, so I'll know soon.

Perry lindsley

Eliza Dushku was offered a "Faith" spin off series but turned it down because she felt that it wouldn't live up to "Buffy" standards.

Perry lindsley

Dollhouse was excellent, but not to everyone's taste due to the subject matter. That being said, if you love Eliza Dushku then you will most likely love Dollhouse.

Perry lindsley

Jordan, I agree that 309 rocks! It is a very special episode that... I don't want to spoil it. Can't wait to see Domi react next week.

FernWithy

While Xander and Cordy really were unlikely to last (that whole conflict dynamic rarely works), I still feel really bad for Cordy, who had grown so very much during the relationship and had actually given up her old life for it... the growth stays (obviously, since you've watched Angel, you know that), but what does she have left? She built a whole new identity around this friend group and now? What now?

Ron Fehr

This is one time when your having seen part ot of Angel was beneficial for you. The funeral scene near the the end of the episode was obviously meant to make us think or the worst outcome for Cordelia, that she died. You were already emotionally hurt. Imagine if you had not known what was in her future. I shudder to think how you would have reacted to that scene.

CeNedra

Omg I was at work when you uploaded but when I got home I had forgotten!! Now 9 hours later I saw the email again and done a lil dance of excitement 🤣🤣🤣 *comes running back* love the shirt btw 😍

Jordan Haddow

I can understand why she would feel that. Angel is okay, even has some really great moments. The one thing that Buffy has though is more cast. There's the central 3, but then there is a bunch of secondary characters and repeating every so often. I guess Angel's cast was eaten up more by the bad guys, but I just found they didn't have enough to pull things out of depressing states enough. Buffy gets really dark and soul crushing, but there is always someone who can jump on for some comic relief to level things out. Still, it would have been nice if they could have devoted enough resources to it.

Domi E

Those are some great points Jordan! I love it! And tbh Dollhouse wasn’t my thing when I tried watching, but I might need to try it again cause Eliza is awesome!

Domi E

I know, this is so sad :( I discuss this a little in one of my upcoming videos. Poor Cordy!!!

Domi E

Oh gosh, I think I would have absolutely lost my mind!!!!

Domi E

Aw yay I hope you enjoy 😄and thank you!!!!

Ron Fehr

You were just starting to warm up to Xander and Cordelia as a couple. How do you feel about the ending in the hospital scene? Or is that a question you would rather answer at season's end?

KT

I most enjoy drunk rewatches of eps that are a little more in the past, so I'd say Halloween or Angel or even the pilot!

Ron Fehr

'Drunk' rewatches? Are they what I think they are? I seldom drink.

Ron Fehr

I don't know if Angel was really a part of the gang, at least not like the others. Being a vampire, he could only interact with them indoors or after sunset. So interactions with them are limited.

R J Walker (FumblesMcStupid)

Such a good episode, so many things. But I'm gonna go on a bit of a detour, which will come as no surprise ;) but also a lot of the stuff about the couples has been talked about a lot already. I know you've already seen a certain episode where we get to find out what Giles thinks about Angel being back lol so it's a little easier to talk about that first scene. I also know you've seen a few more episodes that I can kinda hint at as well. I'll be careful about proper spoilers though! First, I think Giles is seriously impressed with Buffy's scores and really does want her to have a future, this is the kinda-father side coming out, the one that doesn't want to have to send his 'daughter' out to potentially die every night. He tends to have to view their relationship as watcher-slayer most of the time because sadly, that's the reality of the situation. He'd not be able to do his job very well if he got caught up in the father-daughter dynamic that comes out every now and again. Basically, I love their relationship because it's so bloody complicated and I'll definitely be talking more about it in the future ;) However, this is only one episode after he's found out that Angel is back and even in this episode you can see how keen he is about the fact that Buffy is seeing him. Spoiler - not keen at all lol I think he's also thinking a lot about last year, Buffy and their relationship, how he's going to deal with Angel etc This is the first time we've ever seen him leave Sunnydale. To go on a retreat no less. I think he's gone off to sort his head out. Last episode was a horrible shock to the system and Buffy seriously hurt him. I think Buffy maybe worries in this scene that he's abandoning her maybe because of that, I don't know. I don't think he is, but I think he needs a little space. I don't think he's really dealt with last year at all. At the end of last season Buffy is gone and it seems that he threw himself into looking for her 24/7. I imagine, knowing him, it was in an effort to NOT have to think about what had happened. He's awfully good at repressing lol AND he knew Angel was gone because he knew how Acathla worked. He didn't think he'd ever have to deal with him again, so he didn't think about it. So, now he needs some time to work all this out. Obviously he doesn't do a very thorough job of is as we see later lol Also, I love how he packs, and now I'm sad we didn't get to see him going on a camping trip with Jenny because I KNOW she'd turn up with only one set of spare clothes and a toothbrush and bickering would ensue :D And, I often wonder what happened when he got back from only a few days away. Cordelia's in hospital, she and Xander have broken up, Willow and Oz have broken up, Buffy and Angel have broken up, Spike came back and almost killed Xander and Willow. Damn, thinks Giles, I was only gone two days lol And also, arrghhhhhhh Cordy!!! She gave up everything for Xander. It's not that I don't feel bad for Oz, I really really do, but at least he still has his friends and his band, Cordy has nothing now :`(

Domi E

I can answer more in depth in the end if you want! But I feel like it was totally Cordy’s right to need some distance from Xander but I like that he still showed up anyways!!

Domi E

Great suggestions!!

Domi E

I don’t normally drink much either!

Domi E

Great points! Poor Giles and Cordy :(

Ron Fehr

Thanks Domi. I just wanted to know your thoughts, and I agree with you. And like you said in the video, it was nice of Xander to respect her wishes and leave.

Jonathan Bruser

Hey there! This episode is a favorite of mine, in particular Spike's line about being "love's bitch" and being man enough to admit it. More than that, there's actually something subtle and cruel about the title of this episode. It isn't actually "Lover's Walk" as you posted. It's called "Lovers Walk." It is not 'The Walk of the Lovers,' but more like 'Lovers Walking Away From Each Other.' Very subtle cruelty with the lack of punctuation in the title.
