I feel the same that with episode 5 we are done with world building and go on explorations now :). My take on Will is that he has very strong sense on what is right and wrong. But he has clearly the biases of the time and therefore is blind to certain aspects. I think he really expects that if there is an official investigation, the "system" would provide the help to Brianna. Where it is clear to me that the Vice-principal and the DA only want to punish the girl, which is a fair presentation of the time in my opinion. I grew up a few years earlier, but I think at that time it was still completly the "fault" of the girl and therefore she alone has to bear all the consequences. This undercurrent is visible whenever someone (especially Helen) mentions the boy/father and the topic is immediatly dropped by everyone else. And the charges are only stopped because it would reflect bad on the boyfriend. And I find it astonishing that it has been only 20 years since then, when "L" and to a lesser degree "G" became somewhat acceptable (at least in theory), while "BTQ+" did not "exist" at all. The mindset was so stupid, yet I grew up with that and did not question it at all. So yeah, Joan of Arcadia was progressive for me back then.

The Value of Life

For some reason I really enjoy Grace's character. Luke: You like my sister. Grace: First, I don't *like* anyone. In her better moments your sister didn't make me want to puke. Grace: I don't plan ahead. Ask when it's closer. Luke: So... y - you're saying it's possible? Grace: In theory, if you stop acting like such a loser.
