HI FRIENDS!!!! ♡♡♡♡

Soooooo, today is a really fun day. At this exact time last year I posted my very first video to my youtube channel, the Buffy pilot episode!!! To celebrate one whole YEAR of my channel existing (did time just FLY RIGHT BY OR?????) I decided I wanted to do something (hopefully) fun, and rewatch the Buffy pilot episode with y'all, seeing how different things are given the context I now have! I hope y'all enjoy this, which I made as a Patreon exclusive content, as a thank you for sticking around and supporting my channel.

Not to be hella sappy, but when I started off my channel I didn't know what to expect, and honestly totally didn't think I'd still be here doing this a year later, so THANK you. It means the world to me that you guys care about what I have to say, and for all the sweet messages you guys have sent me throughout the year that have really helped make me smile in days I needed it. I am so filled with gratitude for everything you guys have done for me, truly, and for none of you yelling about my two hour long reactions... Yet.

I love each and everyone of you so much, and THANK YOU for everything!!! Here's to another fun year of reacting, which I'm sure will be full of Buffy plot twists and of course... Jenny breakdowns!

Love how Cordy says that Sunnydale is a small town yet it has multiple high schools (perhaps 4), 2 colleges, an airport, a museum, a zoo, 12 cemeteries, 43 churches, a military base, docks, a bus and train station, etc.

Remember, you did see Darla once, in season 2 episode 21, Becoming Part 1. The opening scene showed her spring Angelus, later Angel.

I have a question, Domi. Where did you film your first few Buffy reactions? Because I can still picture the background.

I think that the best way to watch the unaired pilot would be soon after seeing the one that made it to air. It would be the best way to spot the changes that were made, as well as the similarities.

I knew that. I was just wondering where the house was. I recall her mentioning being in Brazil at times, and I just suspected that's where it might have been.

Yes, it was "Brazil", just outside of Montreal.

I'm not sure I understand, Shaun. Brazil is a country, and Montreal is in Canada.

This was so very cute! :-D And of course we watch to the end, how could we not when you're being so adorable? It's amazing how little you remembered - although my perspective is probably very skewed since I've seen the episode countless times.

Ahh yes. Xander on a skateboard. Something we've never seen again since this episode. And Jess. Sorry, dude. You're dead. Back to Xander, you'd better start getting interested in Willow now or in two seasons you'll wish you had. And Flutie. The first of two principals that were eaten before Sunnydale High was blown up. Makes you wonder how many school principals got eaten before this. I mean, before this year, they didn't even have a slayer attending their school. And we know from the Prom episode that the class fatality rate went down after she arrived.

So I'm going back and forth a bit between your original reaction to this episode and your rewatch, just for certain scenes, and when it comes to the part where one of the girls finds a dead body in their locker, you say the same thing both times. "What a fucking mood!" lol

This was so interesting to see your different view on things with all the things you know now. And you made me so emotional at the end. Cordelia was nice to Buffy in the beginning because Buffy seemed cool, especially coming from LA and all. "I'll be friends with her because she's cool". Friendship based on status. She didn't so much "resent" her for choosing Willow over her, so much as she chose to hang out with the "Losers" and thus is not cool like Cordelia originally thought. Cordy has grown since then though.

Buffy had one Watcher previously. She never had contact with the council per se. Thus when she moved, she was not aware that she was going to get another Watcher, though Giles was informed she was coming when he was placed there, and he was supposed to make the contact and start training her. And Buffy had also pretty much hoped to put that Slaying stuff behind her. So she was not expecting Giles.

Buffy: "I really didn't like him (Angel)" Yeah, even before we saw that whole Bangel thing play out, she wasn't too convincing.
