Yeah, the final scene. Glad I am not the only one affected by it. As I mentioned to you it stayed with me for several years. The first reason is the plot twist itself. Like you I was expecting the goal was saving Ramsey, so when God starts with "There’s Laura Eason, ninth-grader. She plays the flute. She would’ve been one of the first to go, (gunshot) coming out of orchestra at the wrong time. And Andrew Bayer. He would’ve tried to save his friend (gunshot, gunshot) Lawrence Distasi and lost his life." Just wow. And I like the decision that the victims would have been random kids that Joan does not know. Makes it more impactful for me. Seeing them laughing while Joan is being told how they would have died. Just chills. The second reason is Joan's perspective. She completely disappointed her mom, put her dad in life-threating danger and continued to hurt Adam further. And the result of this is that Ramsey gets into a slightly less toxic situation? I really can relate to her feeling "yeah, all I need is someone else telling me that I am a failure". And then getting told by the highest authority in your life that you saved 12 lives. And no one but her knows. The way they filmed it I really feel how her mind is fried. Anyway, I have a strong feeling that you will like the rest of Joan’s story. So, lets meet again next month 😊

I love it when I log in and see there's a new JoA episode! This one is among my favorites. I guess I'm a softie in that I like the emotionally-charged episodes. It's such a great show and I love being able to watch it again with you. Sorry if you get tired of me saying this, but - Domi, thanks for posting these reactions, and Anitusar, thanks for requesting this show!

The Value of Life

Yeah, that ending. Wow... I don't think it's safe to say if God tells you to do something, nothing bad will happen. There are a lot of martyrs in history that might have something to say about that. It's just that if something bad did happen, if you were hurt or killed, you would know that it was worth it. Whatever good was done was worth the price. We all die some day, it's inevitable. But it's not inevitable to die a meaningful death, to give our lives for something that will make the world a better place. That would be an honor. Even if Joan had been shot at the end, if it prevented so many others from being killed, would it have been worth it? If God asked you ahead of time, would you be willing to sacrifice your life to save a dozen others? Would you do it?
