Wes and Cordy's dispute was definitely a turnaround from how they behaved with each other on Buffy.

It seems to me like in Angel's first fight that him killing the other guy was just an accident, done in self defense. And remember, it was a demon, not a human.

Congrats, you've completed what I believe to be the last of the "meh" episodes before the show really starts hitting its stride. Other people may disagree! I just never really liked The Ring. I *do* wonder how Angel's experience this episode would've gone if they knew about Angelus. Angelus' would've slaughtered all 21 backstage for fun and then gone "cool can i go". I did laugh a little when you said: "these demon people are like... bad". Understatements By Domi: The Short Poem.

Ron Fehr

I have to disagree about this being a 'men's episode. True, it wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't a bad episode either. It did show Angel's resolve to do the right thing.

> Wes and Cordy stepping up to save the daddy I assume Angel is the daddy in that scenario?

Ron Fehr

One thing that bothered me was the fact that people would actually be excited to watch anyone (demons in this case) kill someone else.

Mark Sahba

Well, "Save the daddy" could work as well.

I actually really like this episode. For me the last "meh" episode of the season was the last one. I didn't realize this episode was so lowly rated among fans until I began reading comments to reactors.

I've always enjoyed this episode. For a story of the week it's pretty solid. Plus it marks the point in the season where the lesser episodes are past and the rest of it just gets better from here. In this episode Welsey and Cordelia actually worked together as effectly as they normally fight with one another. So that's a step up. Also the way Wesley handled that bookie....so nice, so well done. If you had asked me at the beginning of the episode, "Who is going to deal with the bookie in a more badass way: Angel or Wesley?" I wouldn't have guessed Wesley lol. He's only been on the show for several episodes and he's already progressed quite a bit from the cowardly and incompetent nincompoop that he was in Buffy (though I still like him in Buffy). Aaaaannnnnnd......of coooouuurrsse.....we can't forget this is Lilah's introductory episode. Yes she is the W&H lawyer you remember from later seasons. I was anticipating what your reaction would be when you saw her. PS Again, you made it almost to the very end before mentioning Jenny! Congrats! Like Wesley and Cordy, you also have come a long way. 😋

It was entertainment in human cultures for many years (gladiators) so there must be some morbid curiosity element in it the back of a human brain somewhere. society have evolved but some people still probably would take sick pleasure in watching these blood sports. :( like fox hunting or cock fighting but, probably perceptively even worse since the demons are humanoid

Ron Fehr

So very true. I hadn't thought of that at the time I sent my earlier text. The curiosity is still there, and I personally have trouble understanding why. I grew up when ordinary boxing was of major excitement. Admittedly I did watch that, but more for the boxing itself and not so much for the knockouts.

Ron Fehr

Yes,she mentioned Jenny, and this isn't even a Buffy episode. Lol

Steve Quast

Yep. I guess it makes sense because this is Angel, which is Buffy-adjacent. So, close enough. lol

madfem

you look good in this color Domi 💯 💅🏻

When daddy is not around, the kids are not competing for his attention. They can switch modes and work together.

Shaun Houghton

The whole "taken prisoner and forced to fight" is a standard cliche used by many shows, I find it hard to get excited for it. This is a well done version of it though.

Ray D

This is just an OK episode for me. On the other hand though, Lilah!

Veronika

Portuguese sounds so beautiful! I totally would not mind to watch an entire reaction in Portuguese <3

I love episodes that isolate characters or combinations of characters. I loved seeing Angel isolated from Cordy and Wes for most of an episode. I also loved watching Cordy and Wes' relationship develop when they had to work together to try to help Angel... without Angel's help to get along with each other.

You were tired when you made this video, and you got frustrated with yourself... so this is your bimonthly reminder... that you are awesome. You go to all this work so that we can watch TV with you. To be a good reactor, all you have to do is... be yourself, experience the show, and share your thoughts... and the way you do those things is really fun to watch.
