What I learnt from this reaction is that Domi puts salt in her tea ewwwww

Ron Fehr

Domi: "Why is his face like that?" I believe that shot of Riley was inserted at a later time, most likely when Jonathan was speaking. That would explain why Riley was looking downwards.

Steve Quast

"I believe [Superstar] has to be a woman" *Jonathan enters the chat* ......close enough. PS: Are you saying Jonathan is NOT the first thing that comes to mind when you think Superstar?

Steve Quast

Look at it this way, the first three seasons you were reacting only to Buffy. So now that you're doing both Buffy and Angel reactions, it's going to take you longer to finish the second half of the series. Also, as one who actually liked math as a kid, I think math (at least simple math) can be very comforting. 😋

Danny Strong's CV is quite impressive. In Real life, not as Jonathan

Did you change the Tillow sign behind you to make it work when you mirror the video? That's dedication :-D I don't have a favourite season. I have episodes I really love, or multi-episode arcs, or big bads, etc. But the seasons are, to me, just an amalgamation of those great things. A season is not a "thing" on its own in my mind and so I cannot rank them.

CeNedra

Domi's predictions are one of the things l love most about her 😂 I can honestly say though I've never known anyone be this bad at them 🤷‍♀️🤭

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Think of it this way: You *still* have the entire second half of Buffy to watch! And most of Angel! That is a tonne of great show content still to come and I'm very excited to get to see you experience it. Of all the reactors I subscribe to, and there's more than a few with a lot of them the watching BtVS and Angel, and I probably look forward to this channels releases more than the others so this a pretty exciting time. Keep up the great work👍

The other Initiative scientist basically put all responsibility for attempting to kill Buffy and creating Adam on Maggie Walsh, so as far as Riley knows the worst element of the Initiative is gone. He's clearly still in even in the previous episode where he takes command of the police presence at the church.

Ron Fehr

This must have been a busy time for Danny Strong, the actor who played Jonathan. He would have had to pose for photos, such as the ones in the calendar, or the basketball shot in Riley's room, or even in the scene at the end of his talk with Buffy while having coffee. Also the scene with Adam looking ar numerous monitors featuring Jonathan. And lest we forget the credit sequence where shots of Jonathan were interspersed throughout.

Chas Summers

When you finish the series, Google Danny Strong's career in show business.

Calculus can be comforting... ... if you are a raging weirdo like me.

Jeffrey

I told you Jonathan is a superstar! ie Dopesick

Steve Quast

I must confess I never made it to calculus, as I stalled at pre-calculus. But I liked grade school math, algebra, algebra II, and trigonometry.

My favorite seasons are 3, 5, 2, 4... in approximately that order. I like the other seasons though too. No Season is perfect, but they all have some amazing plot threads, aspects, and episodes... including Seasons 6 & 7.

Steve Quast

Did I miss where Domi asked us what our favorite seasons are or what our ranking would be? It's tough for me to place them in an exact order, as they'll probably move around from time to time. But I'd say seasons 2 and 5 are tied for first place. It's really tough to choose between them. Below them I really like season 7 and then season 3 (I hate ranking season 3 so low, I just like the other ones that much). Seasons 4 and 6 both have some great episodes, but overall I'd rank them below everything except season 1. Yes, season 1 is the lowest, but it's a starter season and it's not too long anyway. So it's still solid, it just pales in comparison to the rest of the series.

madfem

yesss big party for season 5 for sure 💯 your friends have good taste !!

UTU49

The Buffy Writers: "Okay, loyal viewers! On this week's extra special episode of Buffy, we're going to throw you in the deep end of the swimming pool... and we'll see if you can swim."

UTU49

IMO, there's nothing whatsoever wrong with Season 1. HOWEVER... way, way, WAY more stuff happens in all the other seasons.

Steve Quast

Yeah, season 1 isn't a bad season at all. It's just that the rest of the series is better.

Land Howard Johnston

Season 5 is fantastic and I love Season 6 so much. So much. Those are definitely my two favorite seasons. Followed by season 2 and then 3. It's tough to rank Seasons 4 & 7. Both near the lows but for vastly different reasons. Both have great episodes and less so ones. Honestly I'd probably rank season 4 ahead of season 7 it's less frustrating and to be honest, the Seth Green/Lindsey Crouse kneecapped the writers unfairly. So bottom two would be season 7 and season 1.

Thom Purdy

This is another Jane Espenson masterpiece! Definitely top 5 of the season! Great reaction!!

I love the moment when reactors just give in to the ridiculousness of this episode and start laughing at all the Jonathan posters. Just let it happen, guys! The interesting thing about the Spike/Buffy stuff in this episode is that it's not made clear whether Spike knows yet that Faith was the one who said all that champagne-popping stuff to him in 'Who Are You' OR that Buffy knows about the encounter either. And re: Tillow, I'm definitely in the camp that Willow is fully aware of and, uh, "active" in her and Tara's relationship at this point. I actually think they've been physically intimate for at least as long as Buffy/Riley have, as a lot of (if not all of) Biley's sex scenes take place in parallel with a scene of Tara and Willow alone together. For instance in 'The I In Team', both of them spend the night not at their dorm, and in 'Who Are You', Tillow's sweaty magic 'O' spell happens at the same time as Riley is with Faith. It's actually kind of cool if that theory is right, because it feels like the Buffy writers making a statement about what the network would and wouldn't let them show and the hypocrisy of that. Also also, I just noticed for the first time ever that one of the posters that magically changes back from a picture of Jonathan when the spell is broken is a Dingoes Ate My Baby poster, aka Oz's band.

I agree. When Buffy and Willow had the "Out all night" "You too" exchange, Willow was with Tara ALL NIGHT. Sure, they could have spent a lot of time talking, but to be out all night and getting back to your dorm in the early morning..... We can assume that Buffy and Riley were also as conversational, but still covered that stuff mostly during the days they spend together. Willow and Tara spent a lot of time together talking during the day. Once they were together all night, I have to assume.......

Jordan Haddow

I agree. I don't have a favorite season either, but I have favorite parts of each season. I find that Each season is different enough from the other that they are like different flavors. Plus, so many elements run through multiple seasons. Like, I love the building of Buffy's view of what it means to be the slayer and how she defines the rules that guide her actions. A lot of people don't like Ted because it's a pretty odd episode. For me though, it is such a key episode in Buffy defining herself. What happens when a slayer kills a human, even accidentally. Fortunately it ends up she didn't, but we got a real glimpse into what she thought and how it impacted her and even more importantly, the choice she made to turn herself in. Ted made so many of her interactions with Faith so much richer. When Faith killed the Mayor's assistant, we had Buffy's experience in Ted to contrast with how Faith handled it. Also, Ted was vital for the moments leading up to and especially right after Buffy stabbed Faith. That look on her face was the same look she had at the top of the stairs. Shock and regret. Every season adds elements that guide her later and it is really interesting how many times we miss it the first time through but catch it again on subsequent watches.

Jordan Haddow

Ya, but the first season or two she was thrown off by her Angel knowledge her expectations that things would happen sooner than they did. Plus, nobody guesses this episode. It's pretty much the definition of out of left field.

Jordan Haddow

So true. You'd have to imagine all the wardrobe changes would have driven him crazy. It's always nice to get the work in that type of career, but it must have been crazy.

Jordan Haddow

I agree. I'm in camp they've been together together for a while now right along with you. I mean, did you see the soulful gaze they gave each other and how long it took them to let go of each other's hands in this episode. That is nothing short of an intimate relationship type of action, not something even really close friends do. You could see how they could barely stand to be away from and not touching the other.

Jordan Haddow

Doo't for a second think you are alone in your Buffy anxiety. Everyone I've talked to and all the reactors I've watched have had Buffy is ending too quickly anxiety. Especially after really good episodes and especially especially after season finales. I think it really starts to ramp up by the end of season 3, when the high school years are over. It's like you can't stand to stop watching, but you kind of have a little dread hidden in the back of your mind that the end is coming. We all get it. Just keep remembering, the rewatches are really great too. Trust us, we all are avid rewatchers.😋 This episode is definitely an oddball one, but you have to admit it was fun. I kind of love that they gave Jonathan this big break, especially after all the abuse he suffered before, although he does kind of end up in the same position in the end. One thing I kind of really thought was a bigger moment that seems to fly by, was something he said to Buffy, which I found to be quite true. At least so far. He said how Buffy was disappointed that Riley didn't look into Buffy-Faith's eyes and just see it wasn't her. I honestly think this is really quite true of Buffy. Back in the Angel days, how many times did Angel just intuit what Buffy was thinking. True, not every time, but many times. Like, in Earshot, he just knew she was trying to read his mind. Plus, even when driven mad from spending years in a hell dimension, he still imprinted on her. Part of why I think Spike and Buffy have such great chemistry is because Spike has seemed to be in her head. How many times has he read her like a book. He knew her and Angel still loved each other when they were pretending not to. He knew just how she felt after Parker left her high and dry, enough to poke at her insecurities. Even with Giles, she saw into his eyes and saw him, even though he was a demon. When she was in Faith's body, she was so disappointed he could do the same for her. I know it was just a quick line in the episode, but on my first watch through, I had already started thinking it was true. I think Buffy deep down feels that a true love connection carries a bond where each can feel each other and almost read each other's thoughts. Riley, did not pass that test. It seems she has pushed past that kind of thing now though. I really like your pointing out the similarities between the dance and the prom. I had never seen that before. Especially that they were hiding Riley's face in shadow. I just never saw that before. Nice.

You already know some Calculus. Most people do. Here's a 2-minute Calculus lesson. If you drive 30 miles/hour for 3 hours, how far did you go? That's Calculus. If a car drives 40 miles in 4 hours, how fast was it going? That's Calculus, too. The reason why Calculus is such an important, challenging, and enormous topic, is because the above situations are assuming a constant speed, and things get much MUCH more complicated if the speed is not constant. There. Now you actually know more Calculus than some kids who are in Calculus courses. Calculus classes have terrible failure rates. IMO, the best entry point to Calculus is examining the relationship between the speed that an object is traveling and the distance that it has traveled. You handle the simplest situations in junior high school (if not earlier). More fully understanding the relationship between speed and distance requires a bunch of mathematical machinery... and therefore a Math major can end up taking half a dozen Calculus courses, or more.
