The shows story is entirely original, made up by the writers almost whole cloth and a some of the characters in the show don't even exist in the game. The writers just took a few of the characters from the game, primarily Vi and "Jinx" who prior to Arcane releasing are only implied to be related to eachother, and the world setting and then wrote a whole story using those things as the starting frame work. The characters in the game have small description blurbs of who they are, but some of those descriptions are literally only two or three sentences long and barely tell you anything about them. It's just flavor text. The game itself has no real story, it's just an arena for players to pick a character and use it to fight each other. That said, you will spoil future seasons of the show if you google the game. The games story may be super thin but this is technically a prequel to it and some of the characters in the show are dramatically different in the game because of things that have not yet happened. Assuming the writers stick with that continuity, personally I'm hoping they ignore the game entirely going forward and just tell their own story.
