“This place was so much friendlier when The Mob ran it.” is one of my favorite random Angel quotes. Other highlights of this episode include a focus on Lorne, Fred as a Lornette, and the idea that Angel played tennis with an infamous Mob Boss and hung out with The Rat Pack

Well, you're one up on me. I've never been to Las Vegas.

Did you ever get a chance to watch The Muppet Show? The first song that Lorne sings, It's Not Easy Bein' Green, started as a song by Kermit the Frog. It was actually quite touching.

Slouching towards Bethlehem is from the poem 'The Second Coming' by Irish poet W. B. Yeats. It goes as follows... Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. Surely some revelation is at hand; Surely the Second Coming is at hand. The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert A shape with lion body and the head of a man, A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun, Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds. The darkness drops again; but now I know That twenty centuries of stony sleep Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle, And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

It's a shame that you didn't get the name references when Angel was talking about his past in Las Vegas. While I didn't know them as The Rat Pack, I was familiar with them when they were still living. Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin were probably the most famous of the group. At least you got the Elvis reference.

Ron Fehr

Well, that ending just goes to show how much of Angel you've forgotten.

I don't think that Cordy brought herself back to earth. Hoe could she, considering that she yelled from her higher plane for the gang to get her out of there.

Ron Fehr

You pronounced Bethlehem correctly, and yes it is a place. Bethlehem was the birthplace of Jesus.
