This last week was a pretty mixed bag. I had a really rough week because of some IRL things too heavily, so I basically made almost no progress until the weekend. On the plus side, I managed to be very productive over the weekend and mostly made up for it. I've finished a major section of writing, moving on to the next one now.

While I'm in the process of doing that, I wanted to ask an opinion on something. If an update ended up pretty light on combat, how would you feel about that? I'm debating where exactly I want to end this, and one choice is appealing in some ways but wouldn't leave a ton of combat in this update. I'm uneasy about doing that, but some people have said they wouldn't mind, so I wanted to see what the overall thinking was before deciding for sure.

Also, I'm not sure whether it will be ready for the next version so don't want to talk about it too fully just yet, but I've been working on something not directly related to the new content that I hope will be a nice surprise on the side. Getting some useful progress on that was about the only good thing that came out of the early part of the week, haha. That and doing a draft of the rework on a few of Cynthia's skills (mainly Bloodfury/Tranquil Fury being redesigned to be better), which I previewed for the $10 tier. Happy with how that's looking so far, but I still need to allocate some time to testing the specifics.

I do enjoy the combat, but not every update has to have it. Don't feel like you need to cram combat in at all costs. What I'm here for is the story.

Since i really like the intricate combat system, i would prefer for the game to not shift towards lighter combat. However if it's just for this update and makes good sense for the story, i'd be perfectly fine...

Glad to hear you enjoy it, but I appreciate the sentiment. Yeah, there are always way I could try to force some in, but preferring only to do it where it fits is why I wanted to ask. Thanks for the thoughts!

Don't worry, I definitely have no plans of shifting away from it in general. It's one of the parts of the game I'm most proud of. Mainly in this case it's just a question of how I break things up, since I had originally been planning to include a section with more combat at the end of this update, but now I'm leaning toward leaving that for next time because of how long other things have ended up. Thanks for the thoughts!
