Weekly Update (3-31-2025) (Patreon)

Things are proceeding apace. Final Chapter 14 wordcount:
[Actually it's about 500 more than this shows, but I'm too lazy to re-screenshot :X]
In addition, we have some excellent fanart from Mimo! This was just of some characters whose designs she liked, since she isn't very far into playing yet, but I quite liked it. Tbh she may have sold a Cassander redraw with it XD
As the wordcount suggests, finishing things up was a little longer than I anticipated, but overall I'm quite pleased with how things are shaping up. Since my mind was sorta in "we're done" mode, I ended up doing the most time consuming part of the testing (testing the complex cutscene) last week as well, since I was struggling to get myself to write until the weekend. I still have other testing to do, but nice to have the most difficult aspect of it behind me already.
Heh, you know, back in the days of yore when even TLS was young (or perhaps before TLS started, I can't recall), I was interested in a few other rpg maker games. One that always sticks in my mind was pretty good, but the dev seemed really frustrated with the work required for even relatively minor cutscenes, and it ended up abandoned. I think the one this update would perhaps have traumatized that guy. XD They are a lot of work, but more than worth it I think.
Anyway, at this point I have combat and various minutiae to finish. Combat is the big one. One of my own biggest frustrations has been the relative lack of assets for combat, just since like 90% of what's available is weird monsters rather than people. It never really occurred to me until I was making Noblesse that basically no jrpgs I'm familiar with except Fire Emblem have primarily human enemies. XD Still, I'm sure I can find/make what I need. If nothing else, my ability to recolor stuff has helped a lot with making the combat assets what we need them to be.
Anyway, here's a teaser before I get back to work on the combat:
