Weekly Update (10-9-2023) (Patreon)
Content
I had a pretty exhausting weekend, between launch stuff and some IRL stuff. Still, I think the launch is going decently well. More reviews on Steam are always appreciated. There really is no comparison between the level of traffic there and the level of traffic I've seen on other sites. I think after 5 reviews, the sidebar will be "Positive," which I imagine is helpful.
At this point, I've posted the game on Steam itself on Itch.io, and here. I've also posted on the relevant reddit subs I'm aware of (r/Games, r/rpg_gamers, r/jrpg, r/IndieGaming, r/indiegames, and r/playmygame). I also made a post on the Fenoxo forums, and on The Last Sovereign Wiki. I'm also aware of a post on a certain slightly shadier forum--and while no publicity is bad publicity, I'm not sure I should engage there directly.
If anyone has any other sites they'd recommend, I'd be glad to look into posting. Given the current mess over there. I'm not sure if there would be much merit in a post on the platform formerly known as Twitter, though maybe I'm wrong about this. At the very least, I haven't really seen much organic traffic on my trailers on Youtube, so I'm not that inclined to think my posting on social media is that helpful.
Interestingly, the r/jrpg sub had the most positive response. I suppose the game really is more of a jrpg than a western rpg in a lot of ways. Honestly, my concept of what an rpg -is- is basically jrpg-based, though, so that may be why it feels a bit weird to think of it as a jrpg instead of just an rpg more generally.
Regardless, with Steam launch and associated polishing done, I'm hoping to settle in to fully focus on v0.10 It was hard to fully do so without v0.9 being out. Compared to the minimal mapping last update, this one will have a lot, so I've been working on putting together the tilesets I'll need for the new areas.
Also, I've updated to v0.9.1.0, which contains only a few minor fixes. Nothing worth migrating versions over.
