His force was strong with this one

ms. nicholson please i'm not strong enough for this.

Jonathan Alvizuri

I just got back from LA and I'm grinning from ear to ear. This was the first thing I saw in my sub box!

Matthew McCoy

You use the word egregious several times at the beginning of this video. I will be very disappointed if a character named Darth Egregious doesn't show up at some point.

Tyler James

Was this published at 9:46pm? Yes. Is this video 1 hr 43 minutes and 20 seconds long? Yes. Am I going to stay up until 11:30 watching this even though I have to wake up early for work tomorrow? YES.

Leonard Pollard

is that shirt a picture of Kylo Ren as a Sims 2 child

The Doom Merchant

It's 11:58pm and I have to be up at 7 but fuck it

anthony grey

oh man, i'm glad i don't have to be at work tomorrow.

ZBL

Oh my goodness, these metaphors are killing me. “You’re like a lens...cap.” “Someone get these motha fuckin snakes off this motha fuckin star cruiser.” Title scroll was a nice touch, btw. And I feel I must note that between this book and the last, you’ve been fair in your critiques and analysis, unlike a lot of others who would have torn these stories to shreds and made a joke of them based solely upon their premises or reputations alone, which would be...like, I want to say...fallic? Fallacial? But that can’t be right. You point out the work’s strengths as well as making light of its weaknesses, which I admire, is what I’m saying. And that is why, Ms. Nicholson, I consider your readings to be so much more sophisticated, no matter how bad or good the quality of the writing might be. That shit’s legit classy and classy legit. I dig it. “Okay, this is not what the force is for, you guys.”

Matthew McCoy

General Clifton Egregious, according to my notes.

SNAKES IN SPACE

Serena Lee

I don’t know WHY I wanted to win that book so badly, but I really really did.

Bill Lehecka

Idea: Patreon exclusive reading of the first chapter. But seriously, what a great find.

Chelsea Clark

This was great. It super bums me out that people actually head on over to Amazon to blast the authors of books you review, though. What the heck.

Steve Ray

I think it's Kylo on the left and Rey on the right, or else a Renaissance-royalty-style adaptation.

Steve Ray

A lens can be distorting and opaque if viewed from the outside, like the mirrored lenses of a state trooper's sunglasses.

Luis

Same here it was a really great idea on Jenny's part and I didn't even know Amazon had giveaways!

Luis

Hope that's the new t-shirt design!

Steve Ray

Word! I hate how the #1 hobby these days is being part of a lynch mob. Even if something is flawed or has a dissonant view, that doesn't mean it's evil, and it doesn't need to be attacked.

Roxane Barbey

I'm extremely confused. I'm at that bit in which we discover they are earthlings. Does that mean that "light withdraw" is actually vitamin D deficiency? Seems plausible.

Blue Corn

It's a snake storm! Also, not to sound nitpicky, but I had no idea some people pronounce "leverage" with a hard e. But the dictionary says both pronunciations are correct. I learned something new.

Sarah Batista-Pereira

Follow up on force bond: It was a major theory in reylo fandom pre-TLJ as far as I can tell, due to clues on the online database. So I hugely doubt it is a coincidence.

Stephen Notley

Oh man, I've only watched the first 12 minutes or so, but the enthusiasm is contagious, nay, virulent!

Will Seamon

I do love the book reading videos, but this one is a bit of letdown coming so soon after the Trigger Warning video which was such a masterpiece. I still enjoyed this, just not as much as some of the past books.

Alexander Young

It means the cliffs notes reference was foreshadowing? Or an accidental spoiler.

Steve Ray

"Lee-verage," as in "Lee's Ghost."

Sean Kelly

I started reading reading the first chapter and then had a sudden desire to wipe my phone and then set it on fire. Did enjoy the summary of the rest. With all its flaws writing a book is an accomplishment. The author desires a lot of credit.

Jerry Nicholson

I'm glad this video ends with some kind words for the author and an encouragement for us to be nice. Jenny's learning to use her powers for good.

pix

Ah there is so much I love about this video. Even my niggling concern that we were bullying the author by taking such joy in Jenny's reactions is addressed at the end. I'm a little worried that Jenny will follow in Carrie Fisher's footsteps and become a famous script doctor but won't be able to turn her hilarious hot takes on first drafts into entertaining videos for copyright / NDA reasons.

Jonathan Baldie

This is a great video Jenny, I really enjoyed it. I agree with pix that I felt a bit uncomfortable about potentially slam-dunking on the author, but I think this was handled quite well at the end. Guess internet viewers need reminding that writing a full novel - no matter how incoherent the story or full of grammatical errors it is - is incredibly difficult and always an accomplishment to be congratulated, never discarded out of hand. By the way - totally not accusing Jenny or you guys of this at all, it's just something I wanted to express. I'm an author and seeing loads of people making fun of my books would make me really upset - but then I put *lots* more work into my books than the author of Black Moon Rising seemed to, with all the typos and incongruities pointed out in this video. And I think that's the key, because then slam-dunking is a lot less likely.

2026-10-07 10:00 Feature length! I'd watch this in a cinema. (And I haven’t been to a cinema since TLJ.)

Lots of cinemas allow auditorium rentals, and most projectors run off digital streams...this dream could easily come true.

Steve Ray

And when two people not only share a Force bond, but also love each other very much, they engage in Force bondage.

Neil Dutton

I feel strongly that any movie adaptation of this book should have every character except Jass and Reza be muppets.

Adam Drayer

I like to put these on when I lie down for the night. Thanks for reading me a bedtime story!
