I can't remember if I've ever posted a preview of this video, and it's not near release or anything but I did some editing of the footage I already had recorded while I had laryngitis

So I decided to post this preview up for all tiers, merry christmas! Thank you for supporting me in 2021

barbie preview 1 uh I think

Comments

Hannah Vaughn

Someday, this enchanted video will become the repeat-soundtrack to hours and hours and hours of grading and cleaning. It will be a glorious day and the beginning of a new era of peace, joy, tranquility, and tidiness, brought on by Barbie and Jenny.

FlorenceOfFlowers

Im so excited for this video to come out one day

MaxMin

Barbie in the Nutcracker vhs caught fire when we watched it. my dad had to take the vhs player out in the yard and spray it with the hose

Baylie Trout

the betrayal was real even though i had a feeling it was coming

pegsies

WAIT what betrayal??? please dont tell me she scrapped the video!!!

Gareth Eade

its nearly here, the release date of Barbie: The Movie... cue the release of Jenny's 17 hour break down of all the Christopher Nolan movies!

Brooklyn Elise

This video is going to be my endgame

Celozon

I was too old for these but my younger sisters watched the swan lake movie a lot and now they love to go back and watch it just to laugh at how bad it is. That horrible laughing sound the bad guy's daughter makes haunts me.

Tori Rittenger

Pleeeaaaaasseeeeee Release the Jenny Cut. No one in my life understands barbie movies. 😂

Alanna Macree

God I hope we still get this one day 🙏

degree

This video was truly ahead of the time... release the barbie cut

anna

i hope the video is 100 years long

Nel Meyrink

This is my Roman Empire. I hope she returns to it!

Ren

sigh

Andrea

Oh my god I care about this so much I own a regular amount of barbie dvds

Anthony Galaviz

TED CANT DO IT LIKE YOU DO IT I BELIEVE IN YOU

Amelie C

Swan Lake as the ballet is very tragic. To adapt it for children’s consumption would castrate the ethos of ballet: how love can be easily deceived upon and destructive to the self. That’s why when the Barbie returned to its root of adapting Ballets with Barbie and the Pink Shoes in 2013 there was a meta aspect to Barbie’s role as a transmigator(?) into these ballet stories such as Giselle. This allows Barbie to dance the part and acknowledge the original story without succumbing to the fate of the heroines.

Rose

So excited to see this whole video. One of my friends is a huge barbie movie fan but I refuse to watch them

Robert Romero Jr

To think she started this journey roughly 3 years ago and still not ready for release. I expect every jenny video be longer than the last.

Charles Burnham

I own every single Barbie movie made before 2016 is that a normal amount?

Buttered Croissant

The first few movies you showed were my FAVORITES when I was a kid lol

Magistrissa

Princess and the Pauper still slaps- the songs are bangers and the plot is both complicated enough to move at a decent clip but also formatted perfectly to add in new twists when you recreate it with your dolls. Reenact the reveals, but also throw in a "oh noooo the carriage drove into a river and I'm hanging off a cliff!!!" where there wasn't one before. I rewatched the Barbie movies I grew up with and most of them are boring as an adult since (for example) the ballet ones often have like 5 minute uninterrupted dance scenes. Princess and the Pauper has characters who constantly scheme and counter-scheme and react to the various twists in the road, sometimes accidentally sabotaging their allies because they don't know what they're planning.

Spliffy

Did the 2023 Barbie movie kill this video? I'm dying to hear Jenny's thoughts on that movie as I feel like I did not get it at all. Like... was it funny? Was it social commentary? I didn't like it enough to watch it a second time so maybe it made a statement that I missed. Why was it so popular...?

bug

what happened to the Barbie video 💔

mia smith

pleasee i need the full video so bad

Montana Bricklre

If and when this video finally comes out, I will cry and name my third born son Jenny

ace_faerie

I forgot this was only a preview 😭

Scrum Diddely Umptious

In my headcannon, Barbie and the rockers is the prequel to Interstella 5555.

Ben Isaac

Oh my god I’m like 5 seconds in and I had that horse!! It was the only Barbie I had and I never saw any of the movies lol

Zara

now i'll never know how barbie swan lake ends!

Brittny Bush

Please, please, please. Charge more for like a one off viewing of it... I will pay. 🩷🩷🩷

Liz

omg thank you!! merry christmas 🥰

A Targ

Ooh excellent! I definitely haven't seen a preview of this one. Thanks Jenny! Merry Christmas!

Luis

YAAAY early Christmas gift thanks Jenny!!

Lily Schmidt

Merry Christmas!! I’m already so excited to watch this

Maddy

Omg merry Christmas yall

Katie Kraynak

small giant spiders stay winning today

Iberian Princess

Merry Christmas! Thanks for doing what you do. So much entertainment.

Carl Sage

Jenny in a tiara? Oh yes. I am *here* for it!

Emily in Prague

Merry Christmas Jenny! What a treat, thank you 🙂

Jordan

I enjoyed this a lot. Merry Christmas!

Catherine Fox

omg I’ve totally seen the rapunzel one; that dragon was hiding in the recesses of my memory. weird! I don’t consider myself a barbie kid but I probably consumed a lot of barbie content when i was little….

Monica McFadden

I read somewhere in the 80s, you couldn't advertise a toy during it's own cartoon, which hurt Jem & the Holograms because Mattel advertised Barbie & the Rockers toys during Jem and Hasbro couldn't do the same to Barbie. (Incidentally Jem ALSO went back in time to various periods, including attending Woodstock.) Thanks for the sneak peek, looks great! I thought I hadn't seen any of these ones but then I had a flashback to the Swan Princess one as soon as I saw those horrible animal-children.

Abby Stewart

this is going to be my joker I can’t fucking wait

Luis

Some of those movies looked amazing lol can't wait for the rest of the list.

Winona Honey

I wanted to eat the CGI bread from Swan Princess when I was a kid, it looked so good

Ivy Cass

I was so worried it wasn't coming out 😭❤️ Thank you Jenny!!!!!

Nel Meyrink

Jenny I am SO SO excited for this video. Also thank you for loving rapunzel and hating nutcracker. GOOD

run_away

For Nutcracker adaptations, Care Bears Nutcracker Suite is one to keep an eye out for... The bears get turned into firewood and nearly set on fire by an evil wizard. And they defeat giant rats with their care bear stare. Scared the absolute pants off of me as a tiny child.

Orissa Meyrink

YES, THE PET RANKING. I cannot wait!!!!

Gasper Markovic

Barbie as Rapunzel used to be my jam as a kid, glad you liked, maybe I shoud revisit it

Veronica Williams

This is so nostalgic for me right off the bat. I still have that Serafina plush/animatronic(?) at my Nana's house; she has it sitting on the guest bed lol

Rafi

i would give anything for a jenny video on the swan princess cinematic universe...

Bratz Jade

Merry Christmas, Jenny! It would be so cool if you could make a similar tier list for Mattel’s Monster High movies. But also I understand that you’re not very nostalgic for them, so maybe not

Conor

This is gonna be epic

Richard Reeves

It took me 8 minutes to realize that the bright sparkle coming from your face was literally white makeup on the tip of your nose. You're really outdoing yourself with the costumes on the crazy-long videos. As usual, I've never watched a Barbie movie and can't wait to see the final tier list!

Shiny Skunk

Do you have highlight on your nose? I'm kind of obsessed with how shiny your nose is in this.

Welshy

I’m so excited for this one! It’s gonna be rad!

shai

so hype!! thanks jenny <3

Reese

This is a great early present, thank you! 😄

Alida H

the girl's face in the thumbnail is my face seeing this in my email

Danielle Sherman

The delivery of “Freak show horse” absolutely killed me

Mae

jenny this is my Joker

Mae

in a good way. the way other people were about the Joker is the way I am about this video

Conor

I didn’t want that to end hahah

Clouds in the Sky

Fun Fact- Robert Mckee, the person who wrote one of the most influencing screenwriting teaching books in the world that like influenced Pixar and Rian Johnson was actually a SCRIPT CONSULTANT FOR THE BARBIE OF SWAN LAKE MOVIE. EDIT: Just looked through his IMDB page, I swear I spotted his name in the swan lake credits but it doesn't appear on his IMDb credits. HOWEVER, there are 3 OTHER BARBIE MOVIES where he's credited as a story consultant lol: https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0571210/filmotype/miscellaneous?ref_=m_nmfm_2

Skikes

wow barbie and the rockers sounds and looks suspiciously similar to the Daft Punk movie, Interstella 5555

Nikki Smith

I am so invested in this already. Lol. Merry Christmas!

Maura

What a great start! Thank you for sharing!

Olivia

Thanks!!!!!

Rose Stachowicz

I was thinking the EXACT same thing. I wonder if the animators are the same?

Ham

Especially looking forward to your take on MYSCENE GOES HOLLYWOOD. There are a couple of celebrity cameos and they have NOT aged well.

Jodi Hoffman

Okay one, Barbie Nutcracker has my whole heart, and two, that Rapunzel game was THE BEST.

Lindsey Keefer

This inspired me to break out the old DVDs and rewatch! I adored Nutcracker, Rapunzel, P+P, Fairytopia, and Swan Lake as a kid

Iberian Princess

You really took one for the team here. These look dystopian.

Dan Gibbins

Me at 5:47: "How is he playing a keyboard solo on his guitar!?" Also... so Barbie and the Rockers is Jem and the Holograms doing Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Okay. Fair. Glad I'm not the only one who immediately pegged it as a Jem and the Holograms knock-off. This video is going to be amazing. Thanks for giving us a sample, and merry Christmas right back!

arlysm

ohh i'm so excited for this video, thanks a lot Jenny!

Jenny Nicholson

Hmmmm interesting the 3 he worked on are all ranked very similarly in my list..........

Lily Mayfield

So many dormant memories unlocked with this one lol

Lily Mayfield

Like I remember getting the rapunzel Barbie and it had a braided ponytail that would grow when you pulled on it and I would sit and think about the logistics of that as a kid

Charlie Hills

Was not prepared for the intensity of this video's costume. Well done.

Anne Plein

„As someone who is outside of the demographic for Barbie toys“ (buys a lot of toys as probs for the video)

Silver Wings

I am old, and I still have both my Barbie and Ken (from Barbie & the Rockers) and Barbie (from Barbie and the Sensations). LOL. I got them down from the attic so that my niece can play with them. And poor Ken's silver pants melted onto his legs. It was tragic! LOL, (Please pardon the typos. Again, I am old, and I have been up late. LOL. )

Icarus

Thanks Jenny, hyped to see the rest :D

Rushka Unverricht

An unexpected preview video! 'Tis a Christmas Miracle! A concert for world peace, in space. I wouldn't have guessed that would make up the plot of a Barbie movie lol.

AnthonyAitch

ARAGOG IS WEARING A TIARA! I didn’t notice til the last 30 seconds and I screamed. Best Easter egg! Now wondering how a giant spider would wear a princess dress.

LadyLotte

I love your outfit! You look so pretty! 😍

Anna V

Omg I watched the ballet movies all the time as a kid, and since I'm Russian they had dubbing, so I didn't know the horrifying children characters had those accents 🥴 that feels almost racist somehow

Sandra Lauridsen

I had those 80’s movies on a vhs tape when I was a child, I feel so vindicated by this because I thought I had hallucinated owning them! The Danish version had both on the same tape presented as one movie called Barbie & the Rockstars

ProkoCat

This is incredible. Can’t wait for the full video! It looks like it’ll be your best yet! ^_^

Casey Kerins

My sisters and I were absolutely OBSESSED with Barbie movies as a kid. Not as interested in the toys though haha

Monica Reynolds

Robert McKee is a good example of 'Those that can't do, teach.'

Torie Gatti

Can’t wait to watch the full version :D don’t work so hard if you’re sick though. Take care of yourself first. ✨✨✨

Dee Crosier

This was great, thank you! Barbie movies aren’t something I thought I’d be interested in, but you hooked me anyway, and now I'm eager for the full-length version. :)

Finnegan Rasmussen

Super excited for this video, love this start! The tier list is really fitting as well :)

Rachel Cook

Barbie and the Rockers was literally my jam for a good chunk of my childhood.

olivia brennan

“today is the first day of world peace” i’m cackling

Holly H.

I shouldn’t have watched this, now I’m so desperate for more!!

Jayna Bates

So the Rapunzel movie had a crossover with Spyro huh

luella

can't wait to see you ruthlessly roast the completely intolerable elephant Tika from Island Princess.

Luis

The wig and eyelash wings gave me Taylor Swift vibes 👀

Adam Leibowitz

I LOVE Gothel from Rapunzel for 3 reasons: 1. She’s voiced by Anjelica Huston 2. It’s the only version I can think of where the relationship between her and Rapunzel is one of pure indentured servitude as opposed to simple kidnapping and somewhat fair trading in guise of a mother-daughter relationship. 3. Last, but certainly not least, she almost starts a full out war between two kingdoms simply because she’s a woman scorned.

aaaaaah!!!!!!

I was 12 in 2001 when the modern Barbie movies started coming out, so being out of the target age range I never saw any of them. Despite the lack of nostalgia I'm super excited for the full video. Thanks for releasing the preview for all tiers! Great Christmas present. <3

Reen

you look so pretty! your eye makeup is gorgg. can't wait for the full vid <3

Narissa de Bruin

I think I'm going to watch all the barbie movies I can stand before I watch this one!! I have watched a total of 22 of them mostly when i was like 13 and got into doll collecting and for the first time ever might be genuinely upset with one of your takes.

Emily

Yes! This has been one of my most anticipated videos! Can't wait!

Porge

I have scattered memories of the Barbie movies because some childhood family friends had a bunch of them. I remember finding Barbie as Rapunzel compelling but strongly disliking almost all the others. To this day I’m still traumatised by “zocolate zip zookies” (if you know, you know)

Noah Motter

oh my god the kelly dolls dancing

Jamie

Merry Christmas! I'm excited for this one. That tiara is amazing

Francesca White

I'm definitely gonna watch this like 10 times by the time the whole video comes out 😌

Patrick

If you're surprised that a concert could achieve world peace you must not have ever seen Macross. (And why would you, it's 1000 years old.)

RiteofWriters

This was a great preview! I’m stoked to see the rest 😊

Conor

This is exactly what I thought

NevadaNate

My sister and I watch Barbie in The Nutcracker every Christmas if we can manage. I find the dated CGI charming.

Liz Fox

Can't wait! I still get kind of sad/bitter when I think about how my mom donated all my (many) boxes of Barbie merch when I was away at college, without telling me. :/

Becca H

wow that rabbit sure does look like Steve Buscemi

Morgan Waas

Wow not even a minute in and I've been reminded of how much I wanted that plush cat. I wanted it so bad

Iva Marinova

thank you, Jenny! the last few weeks I’ve turned a number of my friends into your fans and it’s so satisfying to quote you with them. It’s been a very bearable holiday season for me this year, and i’d like to give you some of the credit! I hope you can relax these days and strengthen your voice!

Quinn

I'm so excited for this video. I have a lot of nostalgia for these movies but haven't revisited them for a long time. Also Barbie-chic is a good look for you tbh

Dundough Breadbox

Looking forward to the rest of this. Still blows my mind when you seamlessly shift voices like that. It also makes me wonder about character voice over work vs. celebrity voice over work. Unless I had already heard you do a specific character, I could not pick a voice you did for a new character (yet, I guess). While a lot of roles in animations prefer that celebrities use *their own* voice as recognizable and proof of billing.

Cam Adams

This was hilarious, and really digs up memories from the childhood. Have to get my sis into Patreon to reminisce with me!

Sarah Jesness

This was great! I can’t wait to see the full video!

Katie

I need it

Corynn

Merry Christmas! It's really fun so far -- looking forward to it going up! :D

Lovely

hahaha, good ending point.

Michelle Irene Hanson

Out of this World achieving the Amazing tier was an amazing Christmas surprise, thank you

Coulter Leek

This is great, and i love this format! looking forward to the rest of this series, keep up the good work amd happy new year

Elle

The first two Barbies were both on one single vhs. I watched them REPEATEDLY. I honestly know them word for word.

Alexa Adams-Robertson

Same. I checked out that VHS from the Piggly Wiggly like twice a week. Do you also remember the scene in the ice cream shop with the banana split vividly?

Elle

A banana WHAT?!!?!1!?1!

Elle

Oh no wait, it was, “a frozen what?!?!?” “Uh… a banana split!!”

Lindsay Nelson

Wow, VIVID memories of the Barbie and the Rockers line of dolls and the commercial that aired constantly on TV for them. I think (or maybe this was the Jem dolls) that the commercial made it seemed like the dolls danced by themselves, so I was disappointed when I got one as a gift and discovered that you had to move the doll yourself.

Liam MacAloney

hope you touch on how frozen is way too similar to magic of the pegasus, I've always been bitter about that lol

Lauryn Goates

oh my god, i had the rapunzel game as a kid too!! i spent so much time on it.

Emily Mortimer

SO looking forward to this I used to "workout" with the Barbie Dance VHS as a kid all the time

Gomgom Jimboi

it truly is a travesty that "give him to me ugh" was not mentioned in regard to 'Barbie as Rapunzel'

Raven Wolfe

omg are you going to talk about the Barbie EPCOT Center vhs?

Hannah

This is going to be AMAZING

Maria

The preview left me cautiously optimistic for the rest of the list. Feeling very vindicated on my opinion on Swan Lake.

LittleBirdyStitcher

I’m so excited for the rest of this! I still remember my harmonizing princess and the pauper dolls fondly. I used to be obsessed with that movie.

Ben Lyons

That was fantabulous! I think it was a good move going for a tier list rather than a straight ranking. A numbered list that long would get pretty unwieldy. Also, moving chronologically we can see how/if the Barbie movies evolve over time. I'm looking forward to the rest of this! Never thought I'd say that about Barbie related content lol.

Cailin Kless

I was the wrong age demographic for it but have a little sister who was squarely in the target when it came out, and recall being more than pleasantly surprised with that one. I distinctly remember thinking it was going to be odious and then being like... actually that's a pretty legit animated musical. My sister would always watch one movie on repeat for like three months, and this was definitely one of the better obsessions.

Cailin Kless

I remember a 1997 Barbie Rapunzel computer game that came out a few years earlier that ALSO gave Rapunzel way more plot than the original fairy tale has-- but a *completely different* plot from the movie they eventually did. Guess the folks at Mattel really had a thing for Rapunzel rewrites in the late 90's / early 00's...

Grethen S.

I'm so relieved you put Rapunzel in the amazing tier because i watched it a lot as a kid and therefore i have a lot of nostalgia and love attached to it :D I remember i would just walk around my house pretending i was her holding a candle, carrying a tray, making tea on a roaring fire etc... The sound of her footsteps on the stone floor in that basement have been echoing in my head for years... and i say that in a loving way :D I am just now realizing that this movie might be part of the reason why i love that cold concrete smell of basements so much.. maybe on some primal level it makes me feel like Barbie As Rapunzel... oh the whimsy of it all

Nat Jefferis

So Good! Can't wait to see the rest!

notsydne

I'm so excited to see the full video I miss you on youtube Jenny <3

MarblePie

I laughed so much at the end

MarblePie

I dont actually like newt scamander by the way please dont block me It was the only thing I could think of.. can someone give me suggestions

roddie jimmieson

Whatever happened to this vid? Is it going to be posted?

Shred Cadmium

There was talk of this buried in the comments under the most recent ramble. "On pause but not dead" is the long and the short of it 👍

Momo

I come back to watch this at least once a month. I can't wait for the full 5 hour video

WhatAlsaid!

One day, there's gonna be a 17 hour version of this in the main channel.

pegsies

idk if im just sleep deprived or if this is truly the most wonderful preview of a video, but i cackled, i gasped, i had flashbacks. and i felt betrayed by the swan lake review, but i either watched it dubbed in my country, or i never realized the horrifying voice acting, but that entire soundtrack is burned forever in my brain, i wanted to be skunk girl or forrest queen so bad, even the raven daughter was iconic to me. cant wait to see her review the pegasus barbie one!! my name is close enough to pegasus that my non english speaking brain was amazed as a child, and i watched it at least once a week. if this video gets discontinued, i will cry.
