Youtube didn't like my first upload because I got a little cocky about using clips from G4 and it looks good now but if it suddenly says unavailable that's why, don't panic

Ramble: My Little Pony: A New Generation

Comments

Alice

I've seen most of G4 MLP, and I can't believe I never noticed the ponies didn't have eyebrows!

degree

OMG JELLYCAT BRIE

Toony Loony

this is an old ass video but i actually really enjoyed this movie and i found the discourse surrounding its “nazi stuff” so insipid because yeah, i honestly do believe they were drawing on nazi imagery, but like in the same way they did for Scar in the lion king. They unambiguously depicted the military dictator pony as bad, and then he gets defeated and no one likes him lol. They don’t physically tear him apart like scar, but they don’t have to because 1. the tone, obviously, and 2. the fact that, i’d argue, it’s far more progressive to go for full restorative justice and social consequences over throwing characters in jail or killing them. I feel like this brand of twitter leftists (and really leftists in general) are far too bloodthirsty because violent protest/revolutionary action is so demonized that they think they have to advocate for violence always in response. Like no, the need for revolutionary violence doesn’t necessitate defaulting to violence. People really need to be more abolitionist than they are. Also Izzy has that line “between you and me, i think that badge was creating an unhealthy power dynamic” which may be kinda cringey but really directly critiques the institution of Pony Cops which is more than G4 ever did with its royal guard and Shining Armor and the changeling racism episode (WILD episode btw). Now that the show’s come out and it’s allegedly mid (i haven’t seen it lol) i can’t speak to its potential quality, but I still stand by this movie as being a surprisingly mature example of this trope and having a lot of potential. also the music is still great and i listen to Fit Right In and Danger Danger regularly.

Robyn Higgins

Ny little pony collection patreon vid when 👀

Robert Romero Jr

I just googled boeing 737 max because I definitely remember hearing it in the news recently and immediately see articles today still having safety issues despite this being a known issue since this video drop. If you havent already would like to hear thoughts on secrets of dumbledore. Only seen the first 2 fantastic beasts but would like to hear closing thoughts on the harry potter series as a whole.

Scrum Diddely Umptious

I spent the entirety of the video staring right into the beady little eyes of that plush of a slice of brie, knowing I have a big chunk in the fridge, yearning for its creamy goodness, but also its 11 pm and eating night cheese is just not in the cards at my age. I am not a plush person but i would buy that plush no question about it if I encountered it in the wild, its excellent

Cece

So what you’re telling me is that one day, Sunny Starscout will inherit the MLP equivalent of the Gilbert Journal? It’s all connected.

Paulie Paul

I'm years late with this comment, but I'm with Jenny when there's an excellent documentary about something and Hollywood immediately decides they need to make a cheesy drama about it. Case in point: Dogtown and Z-Boys.

Paulie Paul

Oh and I'm also with her on preferring miniseries over continuing ones, for most of the same reasons she outlines. I love a complete story, and also there's the thing that happens sometimes where at some point during the first season a studio realizes they have a hit and decide to just try to milk that sucker beyond its original intent and yep, as she also mentions, they lose the original showrunner. Also, there are TOO MANY SHOWS that I want to watch and I'll never get to them because life is finite.

Ontario Traffic Man

It was not renamed, those are different components of the name. MAX indicates it's one of the new (problematic) generation and the number indicates the size (7, 8, 9, or 10). The most common is the Boeing 737 MAX-8, which is often shown as B737-8 on airline websites for short

sweet chao

I also have zero commitment to tv shows lol

Magistrissa

Jenny's impression of the prince makes me crack up every time

Sgt Sweetcheeks

Clicking on this to be met by the big soulless eyes of the twilight sparkle hat brought be unimaginable joy

Katie Kraynak

the way I feel such new joy and excitement every month when the ramble notification pops up 😭

Luis

Yesssssss Jenny saving my Saturday night!

Sarahodo

💖💖💖

Nick Oswalt

Jenny omg you posted this mere HOURS before I drive across the country to LA for my summer job; any and every hour of content I have to listen to will help me endure the three days of driving. Thank you for continuing to make lengthy rambles amidst large projects 😊

Eric MacMillan

Just wanted to say that even though we’ve only seen the first half or so of the Evermore video, its really intriguing so far and Ive watched it many times.

Spencer Hastings

Jenny: If horses had eyebrows Me: …. Do they not? TIL / today I realized.

S G Matthews

You got your pony hat!! On the off-chance you read this: Jenny, would you voice a Pony if they offered? I mean, if they're using YouTubers, they might offer, but I don't know if you'd actually want to work with Hasbro.

Luis

Very good ramble but my eyes kept wandering to that smiling little guy in the corner like is that cake or pie? Thanks to google I see it's brie lol. And yes I ordered myself a slice :D

ghostephine

This is the review I've been waiting for

EW

Are you still making regular “free” videos on YouTube? Or are these Patreon videos the only ones you’re making now?

Chris Talerico

I have 2 daughters, one 12 and the other is 6. The older one grew up on the Friendship is Magic show and the younger one has watched this movie about 100 times since it hit Netflix and the follow up “Chapter” a bunch since that released. Both kids like both series, but I think they like the newer one more because of how far into the catering to the adult fans Friendship is Magic got. Got to the point where, as a parent it felt like we were watching an 80’s hard PG sometimes.

Marissa Collins

I'm so intrigued by the MLP metaphysics!! So G5 is in an era when TS is just a legend… but Celestia ruled for at least a millennium and there's no reason to believe that Twilight would rule for less time. If your civilization had a ruler who reigned for a thousand years, I'd think she'd be pretty well established in the history books!! Also, I'm intrigued by the idea that these G5 ponies could be descendants of Twilight or Fluttershy. Do the "big alicorns" (can't think how else to categorize Celestia, Luna, and the final evolution of Twilight, in contrast to Cadance) … have children?? They're almost like too separate from the normal-sized ponies for that to seem doable. Meanwhile Fluttershy ended up with Q from Star Trek!!! There's no way they had kids, right???

Brian Enterlin

Jenny should release the vlog of her and her sister from Evermore park like the Star Wars hotel

sagaevan

the video everypony's been waiting for

Jack Avalon

Omg Jenny did you know on Discovery + you can stream all fifteen Seasons of the critically acclaimed Cooking series Semi-Homemade With Sandra Lee and it’s very successful three season spinoff, Sandra’s Money Saving Meals!

Brian Enterlin

And/or post on Patreon the rest of what’s finished of the Evermore video. I don’t think anyone here cares if it’s finished. Then at least none of the work went to waste and the video can be official put to rest. I know I hate when something sits in the back of my mind I want to finish, but don’t actually want to do. Give it a sense of closure

Dan Gibbins

This was exactly what my headspace needed tonight, so thank you. Video reaction: I thought when she said all the G4 ponies were dead it was a bit, yikes; and also I know they didn't go this way but "Izzy Moonbow" sounds like a pony who is also somehow David Bowie. Second... work on what you want to work on, every video in the pipeline sounds fun, but if it helps, the first hour of Evermore was brilliant. I get being burnt out on it after a whole year but it was going great and I feel you deserve to have it seen. Just a thought and hopefully some amount of encouragement. And finally a swift topic change... is that Squishmallow in the bottom right corner a piece of pie or wedge of brie? Either way, amazing, I love it, kept glancing at it the whole time.

haley kaufeldt

Whatever happened to the Barbie video? Apologies if I missed something

Dan Gibbins

It IS brie? Amazing. Love it.

Luis

Jellycat Amuseable Brie Cheese Plush lol

Emma Selle

I also have this inquiry, because I am so very excited by the prospect of it (though, let's be real, I WILL watch whatever I get. Jenny is magic and makes everything compelling)

Casey May

Ok, you mentioned Hey Arnold and I’d pretty much give anything to hear a ramble discussing your favorite episodes from it

Torie Berke

Idk if you’ve seen her video on Endgame but like. If you have this comment has. Uh. A weird vibe.

zanna

I was just thinking "oh they added eyebrows for spirit, didn't they, and that worked weirdly well" and then you said it. delightful. horse eyebrows....who'd have thought.

Monica McFadden

Great video! I prefer the G1 and G3 size too, and those gens have the most interesting cutie marks IMO. Their bodies are just a bigger canvas. With the G5 series they just released that special you saw and I think another batch of episodes will be released in September. There's also a 2D MLP webisode series on Youtube called Tell Your Tale. The webisodes are only 5 minutes long and mostly deal with the characters' hobbies and little slice of life stuff.

gabstar

Unrelated but that light purple color is stunning on you 10/10 your color

Sarah Jesness

Zipp was shown to be really athletic in the movie so I think they are going with a jock vibe for her. Regarding Sunny's character, yeah, she does fall a bit into the "generic main character" trap. (though hardly the worst case I've seen) With modern kid cartoons that have female leads, apparently the studios and networks really push the creators to make them have that positive, eager, happy-go-lucky personality. Though given the nature of My Little Pony, she was probably just planned like that from the start.

John Carlson

Hearing Jenny say the G4 ponies are dead hits a little harder when it looks like she's wearing Twilight Sparkle's decapitated skull as some kind of war trophy. WHAT DID YOU DO, JENNY?!

Kristjan Buckingham

Got the notification for this ramble while watching Secrets of Dumbledore – definitely more excited for your take on it than I was for the movie itself! 🧙‍♀️

Scoot

Man I felt what you said about the Loki series in my soul. I feel like so few media concepts these days actually END that I get really excited when some show or movie or whatever just ends and is finished and that's the end. I'm so thirsty for resolved storylines. I'm also queuing up I love you now die so thanks for the rec!

Mink Alyssa

Lilac is absolutely jennys colour she looks stunning

Javiera Scarratt

ok just on the racism in cartoons point, one of the barbie movies (mariposa) is very clearly set in some kind of colonial state - the royal family and all the aristocrats have spanish accents and then all the american-accented characters we meet are their servants or work in menial jobs, and it's just such a weird dynamic that is never addressed? At the end they form, like, cross-cultural friendships and romances but the whole system is never even acknowledged and i always found it so weird

Isiz

everytime jenny says "docuseries" i cant help remembering and repeating to myself when she said "thank you disney but my family can't eat docuseries"

Tabby

I haven't handled one of the new toys yet so I don't know how effective it would be, but you could try pulling the second row of hair plugs forward between the first row to give Sunny bangs without a bald spot.

Javiera Scarratt

i can't even imagine how much work that video must be (if it was me i think i'd just hire someone to go through all the movies and find clips for me haha) but i was so excited to watch it, i hope it comes out in some form eventually!

Penguin Gabe

Its so absurd to me how much people care about dumb things celebrities say. Like wow, yea, they are definitely out of touch. Because they’re rich as fucc. Why do you care to the point of dedicating so much of your life cataloguing their “sins” and then spend the rest if your life pointing at people saying something nice who dont know what youre talking about and screaming hatred at them. Its such a putrid lil slug life, I feel sorry for those who cant just live their lives

RiteofWriters

I’m really glad this topic won because I love whenever Jenny talks about Ponies. I’d also be fascinated by any numbered list she’d make about the Saw movies. I don’t know them very well, but I’d be really interested to learn about them in a vid.

Akai

I got a bit obsessed with the the blind boxes with G5 lol. I had so many and had them all on my desk. Eventually I gave them all to my friends 5 year old and she was so excited to get them. The one I kept though was a Princess Luna with brushable hair and her body is a dark blue snow globe. It's really pretty. I also had the Celestia one but I didn't like it as much, the plastic looked aged already when it was brand new.

TalysAlankil

i still can't believe the love victor series is not on disney plus in the US (it is over here since we don't have hulu, so most of hulu is on d+ instead). but also re:it getting cancelled i think they knew going into the third season that it's the end so hopefully they'll wrap it up well enough?

Shred Cadmium

If folks try Challenger: The Final Flight and Downfall: The Case Against Boeing, and like those, then I’d definitely recommend Last Breath, also on Netflix 🤿

Mimosa

Fun fact: the voice of Izzy Moonbow is Kimiko Glenn and she voiced another horse in 2021 in Centaurworld (Netflix original 2D animation show / musical). I highly recommend Centaurworld if you like musicals, animation or stories that have a resolution (it’s 2 seasons and it’s done).

Penguin Gabe

If you all are looking for a limited series thats concluded satisfyingly, on netflix theres a show called “Midnight Mass”, just recently watched through it and its my favorite thing on that whole site. Just straight up artful as all hell

Jaz Mei Luo

Omg when did she say that lol

Joe Cumbo

watching her do actual semi competent cooking on Money Saving Meals is some twilight zone twistery

Jaz Mei Luo

Got this notification while standing in the pit at a concert which is like the only time I wouldn't immediately click on the video 😂 Anyways, so glad this topic won. I would still love to see a full production of Jenny's G5 vision: Pony Magic School (name pending)

Markus D

I thought that having Friendship is Magic be historical was also kind of cool just because I don't see that sort of connection in a lot of kids media. I also like how it was referenced in the movie's story like mythology. Though I would compare it more to ancient history, like the Roman Empire or ancient China where there are very famous historical people, but we don't get their whole story because it's just not all recorded/survived. Plus, royalty often have legendary things, like being the child of a god or their birth being foretold.

Tamara

As a low tier patreon I never got to see the evermore preview. If it never goes to main channel I'd really love for it to be made viewable for us!

Markus D

Totally agree with G4 toys being kind of crap. The only ones I got were some of the Build-A-Bear ones which were the most cartoon-accurate but really could've used more mane/tail hair. I wasn't previously into MLP toys because I don't really like the "doe-eyed" look that the older series had and I don't love that they have no articulation, but I give those early lines props for creativity in the other aspects. I definitely agree with you that regarding what kids want and collectors want, introducing more ponies into the toy line that aren't established characters is a great idea. Maybe have them as vaguely "separate" categories like "show ponies" and "toy ponies" rather than Hasbro saying that the toys MUST have a relation to the show.

Richard Reeves

Weird.... my only takeaway from this ramble is that Jenny thinks Nazis are good 🤔 /s

Alex Andra

Jenny do you know if/when this video will have captions?

Evan Samanas

I watched the part about the toys with my 8yo daughter, and now she wants some G1 ponies :D We're staying at my in-laws' house and this even kicked off a hopeful scavenger hunt that sadly came up empty to see if any of my wife's old ponies were still around. I might be searching for some online now...I think she'd have a lot of fun restoring them. Also don't underestimate the ability of FiM to cultivate an audience of kids today on Netflix! It is both my daughters' favorite show for probably over 2 years now, and they were both excited to see the callbacks to the G4 characters in the G5 trailer. MLP was introduced to us by word-of-mouth maybe 4 years ago when our oldest's preschool friends liked to play pretend as the characters of the show (us googling "princess alistia" to figure out what she was talking about)

Maria

Oh my god, this video made me realise I had a G2 pony as a kid and thought it was a bootleg because it looked nothing like the other ponies I had that were G1.

Isiz

heh pretty sure it was the d23 video

Catherine Fox

i’m really interested to see the evermore video! you’ve probably just been looking at it too long. we are often the worst judges of our own work.

Markus D

I never thought it went THAT far, but I also didn't watch the last few seasons. I DID see that episode that was like all fandom-references and the problem is just that I never want the original product to get so meta about the fandom, not that it was especially "adult".

Markus D

Even though I'm not a Marvel fan, I thought that if the Loki series was a mini-series and was more gay, I'd have watched it. I definitely feel the excitement over hearing "mini-series" instead of full TV series though because I too do not like committing to super long series. I still have a few that I like, like One Piece, but that's partially fueled by nostalgia and I do a lot of skimming.

Markus D

I've been iffy on Centaurworld because I don't like the general art style, but if it's only 2 seasons, it might be worth it.

Jenny Nicholson

I'm sorry, I thought they were auto-enabled! They should appear now

Guildhall Games

Absolutely devastated to learn that none of the new ponies wear a cowboy hat.

Emma Highfield

is the hat u wearing one of the ones u talked about in the bronycon video? if so very excited for u that u managed 2 find one

Ava Weintzweig

for fans of descendants, pipp petals is actually voiced by evie!

run_away

@Torie Berke It definitely does. When she says she's burnt out on it it sounds more like she needs some time away from it than it does like she's saying it's dead for evermore...

run_away

They should hire Jenny as a writer. She established she can write an ongoing show with WiM. It's beyond clear she understands the mechanics of how narrative interacts with character and also what makes the show appealing for both fans and young girls. I know I'm just an internet stan so obviously I'd say this, but even if I weren't, she'd help make the show great.

blitzball

that nazi pony sure looks like Homelander...

Peter Andrews

I spent 2 years of my life on this movie and this was the video I was looking forward to the most, thank you :')

Laura

I DID know a kid who had a pikachu build a bear, and had to be talked into getting an Evee build a bear instead of a SECOND pikachu. He was convinced on the basis of being able to give pikachu a friend. Some kids love one specific thing and want it over and over again.

Dan Gibbins

IIRC there were two docuseries on NXIVM, not sure which channels/streamers had each. I only watched one but I'm pretty sure it's the one Jenny said wasn't good. A few ex-cultists being a bit too self-congratulatory.

Jenny Nicholson

I always forget to mention it but it basically has stalled but isn't a dead video. I think I put way too many extremely long videos on my plate and even though it's something that was easy to granularly write it's just so dauntingly large I think I need to make some shorter videos with a faster turnaround before I can do longer projects because I also feel like I hear it from all sides when there are longer gaps between videos, no matter how long the thing I eventually put out is

Luis

Never heard of The Jinx until this ramble so I spent my Sunday watching it all and all I can say is OMG 😬

Kodak

Cop pony??? Cop pony as a part of pony structural racism?? Cop pony amasses tanks?? Idk seems like there's a lot going on there. Maybe I'm out of touch with kid's cartoons

Cory Steele

Tirek turned me into Scorpan when he took over my kingdom

Moira Laidlaw

So glad that Jenny finally got a felt pony hat

Cabbage

The multi-pack Sunny has bangs! The 2-pack with Twilight does too but Sunny is an alicorn in that set lol, I'm guessing this Sunny doesn't have bangs because they'd need to be thatched in and it would limit hairplay because the thatching would be ruined with brushing

Oskar Acosta

wait til she find out Pipp is ALSO a hairstylist in the show.

Galewolf

I really empathize with the whole "I don't really watch normal TV" thing. When I was younger used to have a whole collection of shows I'd watch and follow religiously, but in the past like 5 years, I just find most TV to be dull or repetitive. Especially after watching the best of the best - like the Sopranos and Breaking Bad. So now just watching a few documentaries, a musical, and one true crime is very relatable!

Katherine/kitter

Is a Beanie Babies video still on the horizon? That is the one Ive been so excited for, but haven't heard it mentioned in a while.

Jodi Hoffman

Oh no, so sorry to hear about the Evermore burnout! I know you’ve talked before about the pressures you feel as a creator, so just know that we support you regardless- we’d love to see the Evermore conclusion, but understand the difficulty!

Jonas

Jenny I'm so excited and happy for you that got your hands on one of those felt pony hats that you wanted in the last bronycon video!

Zoe Crapsi

This video subconsciously influenced me to purchase the G3 pinkie pie i've been watching on mercari for 3 months now

Jack The Nipper

On "the staircase"- have you heard of the Owl theory? I definitely think she was killed by an owl. Forensic analysis found microfeathers in the weird wounds on her head!

Casey 💖

Jenny- if it makes you feel even the slightest bit better, I think I've rewatched your Evermore previews no less than 10 times through and find the topic to be so weird and intriguing. No one would blame you if you just released the video as is with maybe a 10 minute wrap up on how they're doing now in the year of our lord 2022.

i named my dog albus before joanne came out as a terf fml

I had never even heard of “The Jinx”, but your throwaway recommendation as like the best true crime doc ever led me to binge it and holy shit… feel very privileged to get to experience a “cultural moment” unspoiled 7 years late

Aaron Lutes

Annoying people are always going to be annoying, and most of them don't follow you enough to know what's been going on. Maybe just delete all the unfinished stuff from the last few years and start fresh with the last few months of work. Whatever let's you enjoy your work and cope with the horrible future we live in. Great video and thanks for everything =)

Janine

The Challenger doc was so so good. That one moment when they were all in the room and the engineers were advocating to not launch the next day because of how cold it was and slowly the executive/business people convinced the whole room that they should launch. Really impactful.

Leesah

The first episode of the new MLP is out on Netflix now! It's 45 mins long... I think more episodes are coming but not until end of summer/early fall

Jenny Nicholson

It wasn't the big moment but even the "Beverley" revelation from that friend of his gave me chills

Sara Nicole

42:50 I love that she thought this would be a relatable analogy

Anna Mott

Maybe you've already seen it and didn't mention it in the video, but if you like animated series I highly recommend "Arcane". It uses a blend of 2D and 3D animation like "Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse" and does an amazing job with character development. It's on Netflix. Excited to see your new video!

emchovy

wait are Hitch and Sprout actually brothers? how. how did I miss this.

Paul

For anyone interested, “Jawline” is on Hulu and is fantastic. One of my favorite docs ever.

Jason Fischer

I'm shocked Jenny hasn't seen any of the Mike Flanagan anthology series' on Netflix (The Haunting of Hill House, Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass) The character writing is so good and I know how much she loves good character writing.

Elizabeth Farmer

for those unfamiliar with The Jinx, it’s on HBO Max - don’t google it. first article immediately spoiled the ending lol

Emily Mortimer

I would prefer Pony Magic School [Working Title]

Luis

Just gave it a watch and it was absolutely stunning. I teared up at the end 😢

Luis

I definitely googled The Jinx after watching it all this Sunday and boy were there some major updates!

Adrienne R

if one of you is in here paying to get extra videos but also clipping parts to make Jenny look bad then.. what.. stop that. Get some help

Madeleine

This is a rude comment

Jenny Nicholson

I still want to make it cause I did so much research on it, but hbo made some kind of documentary on it that I'm scared to watch and find out if it's all the same stuff

Thread Bomb

8:58 That pony looks cute in that frog costume!

Luis

That detective Michael Struk really pissed me off like did he even try to do his job at all?!

Steve Ray

I bet the writers realized they couldn't predict what would be cancelable at release time, so they gave Sunny the only sure-fire acceptable character trait and kept everyone else generic -- and their movie *still* got denounced for perpetuating historical cycles of systemic oppression.

Thread Bomb

Okay, so I googled "Polly Pocket", and would you believe Architectural Digest had an article about it?

Thread Bomb

I care if the video is finished. Not everyone is a top tier patron.

Thread Bomb

Wow, those "Tell your tale" eps add up to about an hour.

Thread Bomb

In anime fandom, this type is called a "genki girl".

Thread Bomb

She talked about the Saw movies in a guest appearance on the Sardonicast podcast.

Thread Bomb

MLP Magic School: Courses for Horses

Thread Bomb

But on the other hand they do wear dumb shoes.

Thread Bomb

I'm sure your approach will be distinctive.

Thread Bomb

It was pretty wild - I loved it.

Thread Bomb

MLP Magic School: Courses for Horses

Katherine/kitter

Agreed-- i'd be here for your take. There isn't much I don't know about the story, but I'd love to hear your perspective. You bring humor and a genuine love of toys/cute stuff.

Clouds in the Sky

From what you're describing, I feel like making the CGI ponies close their eyes the way they did in the 2D animation suits more a Guillermo Del Toro horror fantasy environment rather than like a friendly kids movie. Like I'm picturing this in my head and it feels a little terrifying. Were people actually upset they gave the ponies eyebrows? Like I'm actually curious to know if people saw this as like a controversial move. (Oh also, one of the shows you mentioned you watched, I also watched and I've had like conflicting feelings about it. And normally I'd just comment and not like send a DM but it had to do with personal stuff and I still wanted to share my experience just not on like a full public scale. Hope it was ok I messaged it instead).

Clouds in the Sky

True, but tbh me and my brother watched The Jinx knowing what happened and I was still on edge. It's just that good of a doc.

Luis

Definitely!!

Jai LM

I had a hard time with the art too, but the songs are amazing and I got used to the style eventually

Josh Draper

Regarding the mention of nazis in the MLP fandom: That controversy began when Derpibooru--in response to BLM protests following George Floyd's murder--publicly announced that the site would ban images that "promote racism or attempt to downplay the Black Lives Matter movement." The usual "but my free speech" crowd wasn't happy about this. This was first reported on by Kaitlyn Tiffany writing for The Atlantic: https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2020/06/my-little-pony-nazi-4chan-black-lives-matter/613348/ I feel her article does misrepresent the SCALE of the issue a bit by omitting some context. She mentions Derpibooru contained (at the time of writing) 900 images with the "racist" tag, but it's worth noting that there are over 2.5 million images on the site. Of course, NO amount of racism is acceptable, but when the edgy posts represent 0.036% of a site's content, that's hardly indicative of a nazi takeover. That said, Tiffany's article was overall a thoughtful and reasonably accurate accounting of the fandom's problematic elements. Even so, Twitter did its usual thing, and blew the situation wildly out of proportion. For people trying to distance themselves from racism in a very heated political climate, bronies made for an easy scapegoat. There's already a stigma attached to the fandom, meaning that a.) there's not a lot of social clout to be lost by attacking them and b.) very few are going to be in a rush to defend them. So a lot of people latched on to the very oversimplified "bronies are nazis" narrative. Which is sad, because the vast majority of MLP fans haven't done anything to warrant being associated with something so hateful. Some people even criticized Jenny's bronycon video with the claim that she should have "said more about the nazi connection." I suspect the reason she didn't is because there isn't much to say beyond "some people suck."

Markus D

I thought that Izzy was more of the genki girl type.

Markus D

Huh! Going to check that out now. Though I like Adam, I don't know the other guys well so I never really got into the podcast before now.

Markus D

I didn't notice that. While the marshmallowy hooves of gen 4 were pretty cute, I like seeing the ponies with actually delineated hooves.

Markus D

I am slightly offended that he didn't think an eevee would be an appropriate friend, but I totally get what you're talking about.

Markus D

You will find that that is the case with the police in a LOT of true crime.

Becca H

Same! I love that video so much

fiskehund

ALWAYS here for jenny hot takes on toy lines. One of my favorite videos of yours is still you giving those g1 ponies a tyra banks makeover experience

Hanna Hays

Jenny pls finish the Evermore video, I HAVE to know about your actual trip to the park

RjdR

I watched the new MLP with my 2 year old. She loved the "pretty horses" and I found it significantly more enjoyable than Peppa Pig.

Sarah G

I watched the beanie documentary and loved it but I have a feeling yours would get into some more interesting stuff— the HBO one was mostly a lot of footage of people being like yeah i loved those beanie babies!!! lol

Jenny Nicholson

Oh really, that makes me feel a lot better then. Mine was gonna be more about Ty Warner > what made the craze take off > weird collector stuff > are they worth anything now (no)

Virginia Smith

In terms of NXIVM documentaries, I would recommend watching Seduced over watching The Vow. As much as I like Sarah Edmondson, the whistleblower from The Vow, I can’t fucking stand Mark Vicente and how he constantly makes the documentary about himself when honestly NXIVM awarded men near-total power over women and he does no reflection about that and acts like he was victimized on the same level as the women. Besides, Mark Vicente directed a famous pseudoscience documentary that perpetuated and spawned a lot of misinformation that’s still harming people today. He’s honestly just not the brightest dude but he acted so entitled that it colored the whole rest of the series. Plus he spends way too much time hyping up both himself and Keith Raniere. Seduced is centered around women who were in NXIVM and DOS, made by women, and involves a lot of personal reflection. It’s way better at elaborating on the interpersonal manipulation tactics that were in play and includes the perspective of India Oxenberg’s mother, who tells you what it was like to watch her daughter get sucked into NXIVM. The only problem is that Seduced is only available on like Starz+ or some shit while The Vow is on HBO and Amazon prime.

Shelby Hill

shoutout to all my G3 ponies from my childhood not becoming sticky 🙏 didn’t even know that was a possibility

Seanny Sav

I haven't been up to date with the updates. What is Church Play ? Is there still a plan to make the Barbie video ?

Andrew Hill

I never want my host to work on something they can't enjoy but I do want the world to know how, funny, it is that the evermore lawsuit was countered with surprise relevant dwarf song copyright law

SweetAlissum

Couldn't agree more with this comment. I don't want it at the expense of Jenny's feelings or hopes for it, but I have been anxiously looking forward to that video since she teased it a year or so ago. I have rewatched the preview half a ton and love so many elements of it. The 'king's advisor' joke and the Defunctland cameo as a dragon giving a press conference are wonderful.

Emily in Prague

The in-depth pony toy segment was amazing, you describe things in such an engaging way. Also, love the lilac ensemble 💜

Rushka Unverricht

After Jenny mentioned it in the ramble (as well as other people in the comments), I made a point of watching The Jinx over the last couple of days. I'd intended to watch an episode a night, but each part finishes on a bit of a cliffhanger so it only took two lol. What an unsettling and fascinating story. After it ended the way it does, I spent a while reading about the events that happened after the series aired. It seems kind of crazy I'd never heard of any of it before.

Kiwi

Ah no, I'm Charlie brown and the football of promised new video has once again been cruelly yanked from me at the last minute.

carly novell

STARZ did An amazing NXVIM documentary but HBO Max's was the bad one it seemed very biased and like didnt hold the high up people accountable

Cedonia Peterson

Lol as a Peterson I know many Peterson men who have not killed their wives. But I’m also not shocked there are a surprising number who have, because there are just SO MANY Petersons on this planet. It’s like having the last name Smith in Sweden or in most of the American Midwest.

thehostage

So the solution to the Applejack problem was to just bin the character completely. There's 5 of them instead of 6...

The Way Down sounded really promising but I gave up on it pretty early, sadly - felt like another unfocused, poorly paced series misapplying its time. It's not even that that story lacks interesting content apparently, they just seem to have chosen to go really hard on their boring family drama interview footage instead. And from what I've heard even in later episodes it may not serve as the resounding refutation of diet culture I was hoping for either.

Lindsey Keefer

Omg thank you for not spoiling The Jinx! I’d never heard of it before and wow it was fantastic.

Lindsey Keefer

Also I’ve been searching forever for a lavender shirt like yours 😭 where did all the nice purple shirts go!

Stranger Kate

I had also never seen or heard of The Jinx before this vid. I just finished watching it today and it was insane! Seriously, thank you for not spoiling it because that was AN EXPERIENCE

Andi

I am surprised that Jenny has not seen any of the Disney+ Star Wars series. I was under the impression that she is an avid Star Wars fan.

Markus D

A few years ago she was on the podcast "Sardonicast" and there she said that she wasn't really a big fan of Star Wars anymore in part because a lot of the recent series are a style she doesn't like (I don't remember how she phrased it exactly, but it was along the line of how they feel like series "for boys", like it felt they aren't aimed at her and don't really appeal to her).

Shred Cadmium

There's a bit in the D23 vid which sorta addresses this (which I will now re-watch to find it as I have nothing better to do! 😁)

Moniker Surname

I highly recommend the book Bad Blood, which is about the Theranos/Elizabeth Holmes case and went into a lot of fantastic info. It’s written by John Carreyrou who’s the journalist who helped crack the original story which brought down Theranos. It’s a great read.

Pendleton

The 737-MAX was renamed the 737-8, so you won't ever see the 737-MAX when you book a flight.

Skylin.

Thank you very much.... I hope I didn't bother you;;;

Abby M.

I just rewatched the Bronycon video and I literally gasped when I clicked on this one and saw that you got The Pony Hat! Congrats lol

KL

+1 for Seduced, which is really good - The Vow is so slanted.

Nancy Summitt

Honestly, I am always down for the hot takes on the toys. I really like that you analyze playability aspect from a child's perspective.

Brieann Chapple

The only two things I like about Vanessa Hugens are: her voice, and the show Powerless- I miss Powerless

Jack Castillo

Powerless was a great concept and I was really bummed when it was cancelled.

Tori

I've seen 737 MAX-8 when booking a flight a few weeks ago

Megan Onuma

I love how Jenny explains who Vanessa Hudgens is by referencing High School Musical and only later mentioning “the Christmas Prince” in passing. As if anyone on her patreon hasn’t watched her detailed rundown of the drama and deception in the deep universe of A Christmas Prince!

Kara Kaspar

You HAVE TO watch Prop Culture on Disney+! I guarantee that you will love it, it’s a documentary about movie props! I’ve watched it 3 times 😌

Jackson

Wait I'm curious because you didn't mention it as a project, is the star wars land hotel trip you've been posting videos of to twitter going to be a project? I love your amusement park videos and that whole thing seems like such an odd experience

Evan Samanas

Yes, I believe she mentioned it in the ramble before this one

Evan Samanas

My daughter, having watched this ramble with me, at Goodwill the other day: "Hey Dad, what G pony is this one?" 😄 I'm still only able to answer G4 or not

Riley

I want them to soft reboot minty into g5. her aesthetic was almost painfully adorable.

Riley

also it's very funny that ken jeong has now played two characters that dress up in strongman outfits

Caro Granner

Jenny if you can stomach a miniseries based on a real life case, The Dropout is so phenomenal and will give you everything you could hope for on Elizabeth Holmes

Ariel Ash

Is that a Brie plush?!?

Rob K

Patronage is enchantment 🤩

Erika E

"I've been thinking about rainbow fish" is an understatement.
