Hello my friends!

I present to you tonight the brand new Halloween countdown calendar!

As you can see this one is a light box/shadow box, like those of last year.

A terrifying scarecrow takes place in front of a gigantic moon in this new scene for Halloween 2024.

As you can see, the main frame of the light box is shaped like a skull, and the whole thing sits on a granite base.

I have also included a storage box for the numbers, which is shaped like an old crate.

This project, like the other light boxes, is really simple to print.

No supports are required, all the pieces are already placed in the right orientation for printing.

The name of each file is color coded and the quantities are also indicated where necessary.

Two pieces require color changes; the countdown numbers as well as the nameplate on the front of the base. A very simple operation that any printer can do.

If you are not comfortable with color changes, send me a private message and I will be happy to guide you! :)

A complete Bambu Lab project is also included, with the color changes already set. Remember, color changes of this type are not painted, they are by layers, so you must slice the plate in order to see them in the preview.

Concerning the nameplates, they still come in the same three versions; 'Til Halloween, 'Till Halloween and the French version.

As for the lighting, a simple strip of LED lights on the back is enough. I made you a picture of my setup, which is made with a COB LED strip, a solderless connector and the same accessories as the diorama below:

Again I repeat, this may not be the optimal way to do it, especially if you want to sell it. But in my case it suits me, the connections are well secured and it is an excellent solution for those who want to make one for their personal use and do not want to do any soldering.

There is also the option of buying a pre-wired LED strip with its adapter and cutting it to the necessary length, like the ones you buy to decorate your home.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

If you are using a COB LED STRIP, some filaments will let the light through much more than others. On my purple box, you can see that the light passes through the side walls at the back of the light box. Even if the wall of that section is 4.8mm thick, the light still passes through. On the other hand, with the black polyterra, no light is visible. If you can use polyterra for the box, or any other very opaque filament, I highly recommend it. Usually matte filament are much more opaques than shiny ones.

If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to let me know!

I will update the post tomorrow with the list of filaments i have used in this project.

Have fun my friends!!! Hope you like it and keep printing!

Pascal

Hi Pascal, i love your designs and flawless bambu projects. Can you recommend a glue for PLA prints? I heard about 3d Gloop but with shipping to my destination it would be about 50$ ...

MyDesignCrate

I use StarBond (was recommended to me by a 3D Print Farm owner) and I get it off of Amazon works great.

3D gloop is also not possible regarding the cost for me .. ( when it can even be shipped ) ... I'll check what Em says : StarBond ...

I use conventionnal CA Glue from the dollar store. Works fine for me but i know some people don't like this option. If you don't want to go with 3D Gloop, you can have a look at Bob Smith Industries. They have a wide variety of glues, and they are specialized in hobbyist/diorama glues. Some of their glues can be wiped out, you can also unglue the parts (with the right product) and they don't leave any stains. You can also have activators and retardants to use with their glue for an easier assembly. Here's the link for the official site, but you can also find them on Amazon. https://bsi-inc.com/hobby/hobby.html

I use Polybond PMMA and very happy with it!!! (it´s a kind of fuse/melt for PLA instead of cyanocrilate)
