Hello my fantastic friends! Here's another birdhouse to add at your collection! And nope... its not the one i was talking a few days ago... Still stuck on the other one... Trying to keep my composure and taking care of my sanity, i put the project on the ice for a moment... 😂

Back on topic; The Surf Shop Birdhouse!

Simply perfect for the summer that has just begun!

Cute, colorful, with a nice ibiscus flower on its side, the whole thing is absolutely gorgeous in my opinion.

The design is very simple and easy to print/assemble. Most caracteristics of the precedent birdhouses are there, but there's a few minor differences.

Main features:

-100% support free

-Detailed and easy instructions in the form of exploded views.

-Individual parts for a nice, colorful print without the need of a special printer.

-Color Coded filenames for references and grouping parts together.

-Printable on a small printer (180x180) like the Prusa Mini.

-Also printable on a bigger printer with the instructions below.

WHATS DIFFERENT WITH THIS ONE:

-Draining holes at the back

-Rear ventilation hole, near the roof (that's why the gable is different at the back, there's no sharp point)

-You can use the same support now with two different sizes of birdhouses! Yep you read correctly! Two sizes, one support. Thanks to the multiple mounting holes on the bottom door.

If you use the birdhouse in its actual size (Prusa mini size), you just print all the stuff as it is.

If you want a bigger birdhouse, print everything at 133%, EXCEPT FOR THE SUPPORT. Keep it as it is.

You will notice two patterns of mounting holes on the bottom door. The smaller pattern, in the middle, will give the exact same pattern/hole sizes as the big one once it is scaled at 133%. So this is where you're gonna mount your support once the bigger birdhouse is done. No need for a bigger support, so both models can be installed on the same type of support.

The only thing: You will have to replace the (4x) M3x6mm screws to hold the door in place with (4x) M4x8mm instead.

The screws to mount the support on the door will stay the same (M4x10mm), same has we use usually.

INFO REGARDING THE SIGNAGES

Both ones can be printed with simple color changes. The color are indicated in the file names. Again, If you are not familiar with color changes, don't be shy to send me a message. I will be pleased to help you as usual. Its very easy to do, and you don't need a special printer to do that.

So I guess that's it! Hope i did not forget anything.

If you have any questions, just send me a message!

Hope you like it! Have a nice day everyone!

I've been wondering which birdhouse I should make first and I think I figured it out. This is adorable.

Very beautiful! Thank you.

Awesome designs as usual :) can I ask which filaments you used please?

Another great Birdhouse to add to our collection!! You go above and beyond with your efforts to make your creations easy to print and assemble. You also are quite thoughtful when it comes to sizing your files so a wide range of people can print on a wide range of printers!!! Plus I can't forget the awesome instructions and color coded/informational file names!! Almost too many thoughtful "Attention To Details" for me to list!!! Thanks so much for your efforts and sharing your creations with us!! Good luck on your composure and patience with the "problem" :)

Marcel

I have completely run out of tree space for bird houses and feeders XD

Rochelle Roberts

Printed it this weekend. So beautiful. Is there a place to upload our prints? Do you have a TikTok? I’d like to tag you

LOL.. I was going to say the same thing. I like printing the bird houses and feeders so much that I started reprinting them with different colors and giving them to family members. People probably think im a weirdo for having so many colorful bird houses in my trees. I really wish he would make some squirrel feeders too.

What brand of filament do you typically use?

Hi! Any suggestion on printing the roofs? Is it best to have it on supports or on one of the sides? Everything has printed fabulously, but I seem to be having issues with the roof. Any suggestion would be lovely! I’m still a noob to 3D printing, but any insight is greatly appreciated. I have a FlashForge AD5M and I’ve printed everything so far using flash print without issues except for for the roof. Thanks!

Is there a reason you won't respond to several request on which filament you use? I'm having a hard time finding the colors and wanted to ask as well.

Hi, any hint how to print the signs in multiple colors have a BAmbu P1s with AMS, but seems file is for one color only ?

Hi @PA1 Maker, I am struggling to print surf shop main body. I have tried 3 times but it fails when trying to print the tops of the drain holes. I am using a Bambu P2S with PETG. I adjusted temp and tried different retraction settings. Any suggestions, I am new to printing and wasn't able to figure out how to add supports to the tiny holes.

We no longer post the filaments used as we have a worldwide audience, and it can be hard for everyone to procure the same filament. Instead, we encourage variance and unique creativity on your end to make it the way you would like it to be.

Does this have a Bambu Lab project file? It's so adorable I would love to make it.

Chris West

It does not include a 3MF project file, but that doesn’t make it any less printable. 3MF project files are something we started including much later. This design predates that change. The download still includes all of the STL files, instructions, and photos you need to successfully print the model. Simply import the STL files onto your build plates, assign the colors you want to each part, choose your preferred print profile, and you’re ready to print. Many makers actually prefer this approach since it gives them complete control over part placement, colors, and print settings. -Chris
