***EDIT Oct 24th: The melon hat is updated. Rounder shape with no small flat on top.***

***EDIT Oct 23rd: "Days till Christmas" and the french versions "Jours avant Noël" are now available in the zip file. The BambuLab 3mf file has been updated too!***

Hello my friends!

As promised, here's the second design of the Christmas season!

A nice, illuminated, Frosty's countdown calendar!

The calendar can be use for 31 days or 365 days if you are a Christmas enthusiast!

And its a big one!!! The whole piece is a bit more than 13 inches high (330+mm). But everything fits on a Prusa Mini or Bambulab A1 Mini bed!

The parts are hollow with thin walls, so its easy to add a LED strip inside and illuminate the whole piece. The desing can also be used without lighting if you prefer.

All the parts are support free.

Color coded file names with quantities required at the end of the file name.

This project is designed with fuzzy skin in mind. So the parts labelled "fuzzy" should be printed with the fuzzy skin settings at "on", with a point distance of 0.4mm to have a dense and nice fuzzy skin. They can also be printed without the fuzzy option, everything should fit together even without the fuzzy skin but the visual effect will be less realistic.

As always, i recommend reading the instructions carefuly and make some dry fit checks (without glue) to see how the parts goes together.

The project is really easy, as long as you follow my instructions and you have a good bed adhesion.

On the parts with a small footprint, i recommend the use of a brim.

Also, use at least 4 walls (or shells, depending on your slicer). This will give you strong, rigid parts.

FOR A 31 DAYS CALENDAR:

Digits you will need: 0 (2x), 1 (2x), 2 (2x), 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. (13 digits in total)

FOR A 365 DAYS CALENDAR:

Digits you will need: 0 (3x), 1 (3x), 2 (3x), 3 (3x), and two digits of the followings: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. (24 digits in total)

No need for a multicolor printer. For the digits, the signage and the mistletoe, make some color changes at the corresponding layer heights. If you are not familiar with color changes, send me a private message and i will help you with this. ;)

FOR THE BAMBULAB OWNERS:

I have included a full 3mf file of the project, with the plates already configured with the right part colors, the color changes and the fuzzy skin mode on the applicable parts.

Finaly, i have included two types of storage boxes, shaped as a small sleigh, for the digits. One for the 31 days version, and the other one for the 365 days version.

FOR THE MINI OWNERS: The part "LED BAR" is a long part. You will need to place it at 45 degrees on your bed to make it fit. The space used should be 178x178mm at 45 degrees.

So that's it! I think i have covered all the major points. In any case, if you are experimenting some problems with the files, send me a private message and i will try to help you as much as i can.

Note: Tomorrow i will add the french version and also the english version with "Till" instead of "Til" like i did on the other projects.

Have fun my friends! Pascal

I will have a Santa version, but its gonna be a shadow box design, like the ones for Halloween. I'll see, if i have the time, i will consider making a Santa version of Frosty. ;)

Sharon Devereux

I'm printing the gingerbread house at the moment but this is definitely next on my list!

Jace sullivan

What LED light bar would you recommend?

Darknynja

Another AMAZING model! I'm running out of room for all these models. HaHa

Jake Ezzo

Anyone having an issue with getting the hat to print rounded at the top? Mine seems to print flat at the top.

Kelley G

Kelley G

i have a bambu so i just load up the mf file and print

PA1 MAKER

I think there's a little flat section at the top. Don't know why, will have a look at that tomorrow.

PA1 MAKER

Hi Jake! Could be possible, but you'll have to guide me! ;) Can you send me some example of images/design you would like?

Chris Toscano

I saw that in the slicer. Thought it was my settings and was trying everything I could think of to round it off.

Steven Kellerman

I would think modifying the plate that says Christmas to display Kwanzaa / Hanukkah

Craig Pifer

Thank you for the enjoyment of this print. I have one done and it turned out fantastic. Printing the Gingerbread house right now.

Jim Deno

I love this model, thank you! Do you know how to get rid of the layer line about 80% of the way up on the bottom snowball? It's very noticeable when the lights are on and it looks like yours has it also. Thanks!

PA1 MAKER

Honestly no. :( I noticed the small line, but i tought it was a problem with my settings... Its a simple sphere just like the others, so i really don't know what could be causing this line to appear... Fuzzy skin settings maybe? If so, why its not happening on the other balls? I seriously don't know what's causing this... :(

Joseph W Gnall

Can't wait to get this printing on my new printer! What did you use for the led source? We love your work!

Jp Bevin

Hi Pascal - are you able to make a different sign that says "merry christmas" instead of the countdown?

Stifler Monnom

Bonjour,je suis abonné comment on télécharge le fichier

Scott Belie

Hi. I'm having a problem with the bottom sphere. It gets two horizontal lines in the print. I've printed twice on the Bambu x1c. How do I get rid of these?

Brad

Any chance can share the filaments you used?

Bernadette Ortiz

Im printing on a bambu p1s, having trouble printing the body. Smaller round keeps messing up the print, any ideas? I have cleaned the plate and used adhesive neither helped.

I’m having issues with plate 2 on printing the middle body! It’s not adhering to the plate. I’ve cleaned the plate numerous times. Increased the bed to 60degree, slow the speed down and it’s failed 3 times. I’ve even just printed the middle body separately. I am doing this on a A1 and the fuzzy skin. Haven’t had any issues with anything else but this. Any suggestions? Using Bambu PLA

PA1 MAKER

Hello Lance Did you tried a brim around the base of the snowball?

PA1 MAKER

Hi Bernadette! Have you tried a brim?

Auver3D

hello, first of all I thank you for all your designs, they are so beautiful! congratulation! I have a question regarding the appearance of the white, like on the small house for tea light candles, how do you go about obtaining this granite appearance on the white?

Tracy Siemer

Hello! Has any tried to use the battery operated fairy lights rather than an LED strip? I have a crap ton I bought for the halloween countdowns and want to repurpose them. Thank you!

Shane parker

Good Morning from Australia. I am having trouble with printing the body and head of the snow man with what appears to be banding. I have had a look and noticed that there are sections on the same layer as the holes that show fuzzy skin setting on the inside of the parts in bands. Are you able to have a look at your model to see if this is the case? I would post a screen shot but cant in this message.

Layer And Leaf

I have the same issue. Did you try again with a brim? Gonna try that tomorrow 😊

Bobby McCauley

I am having this same issue, with brim or without. The brim adheres and then it goes off. Sadly this is my first print from you and this portion has failed three times.

Lori

I am having the same issue using the Bambu file that was provided :( hoping someone comes up with a solution.

Tyler Phillips

I started to print a different snowman model form a different maker and quickly realized why I subscribe to PA1 MAKER. Printing in pieces is way easier......and frankly I think we get a better result!
