Hello my dear friends! Sometimes, the tiniest designs are the most challenging! Although this one looks pretty simple, it took me many attempts to make it perfect. So i ended up with several useless design though the process, which are shown in the last picture. Just to show you that sometimes, small and simple design can be a pain to create, hehehe.

My main issue was to make the design suitable for any types of Hot Wheels! Or at least, a large majority of them! As you know, all hot wheels are different in size, and i had to find an easy way to make the design adaptable to all of them.

HOW THE DESIGN WORKS:

There's 3 different types of smoke clouds.

-A regular one

-One with a longer cavity, for longer cars

-One smoke cloud to simulate a wheelstand (also known as a Wheelies)

You should be able to fit most of the cars in length with those configurations.

BUT!!!

What about the width??!

Its very simple: All of them have an original cavity width of 31mm.

I have measured over 20 of my cars here. The measurements that was the most popular (over 18 of them) was 30.4mm. That's why the regular width of the base cavity is 31mm. Technically, you can print/sell them as is, and it will fit most of the Hot Wheels cars.

But if the width is much different than that (some of my cars had a width of 27mm and some other were as large as 33mm) you can scale the parts following these rules:

Measure the width of your favorite Hot Wheels. Let's say 28.5mm in width for your car.

You divide 28.5/31mm, and you will know the scale ratio for the width you need. In this case: 0.92

Grab the smoke cloud you want, and scale it in the X axis ONLY at 92%. Tadaaa! Your cloud has now a cavity of 28.5mm. Remember to scale it only in the X axis. The clouds are all place the same manner when you open the stl file. The width is placed in the X axis. If you rotate the part, remember to scale it in the right direction. ;) Also, when you scale the Wheelstand one, remember to scale the Wheel Stand Plate in the same way. But this time, it will be in the Z axis because the plate is printed on its side for better rigidity.

The assembly of the wheelstand smoke cloud is really easy. You just need to figure out approximately where the plate will go depending of the car you are using, and glue it at the right place. That's it.

In any case, if you are experiencing problems with the design, feel free to send me a private message.

Also, a 3mf file for bambulab owners with all the settings in included.

Have fun friend! Hope you like them! :)

Very Cool addition to the Hot Wheels series!!! Your efforts to provide us with the best creations possible are always amazing!!! But it's the extra hard efforts you put into making the printing experience as easy as possible that really put you way above the other creators out there!!! We most definitely appreciate what you put into your offerings for us!! Thank you!!!!!

This is good. The fairies in my town were getting a bit haughty since they have been seeing so many upgrades lately.

Cool addition, but will we be seeing some new Hot Wheels buildings soon? I really liked the direction you were going with the Starbucks and KFC. Would love to see more (Whataburger, In n Out, Popeyes, Popeyes, etc)

Any chance of including burnout smoke in a circle/ semicircle or having an option for front wheel drive?

Thanks a lot Adam! Always a pleasure to read something like that! Thanks again!

Absolutely my friend! And another one is coming this month! ;) At the start of each year, I'm a little busy with all the holidays that are close together, but I also have to concentrate on my other designs and the Hot Wheels are making a nice comeback starting this month. :)

The FWD burnout is already under design. ;) And i will have a look at the donut one for sure, i think its a great idea! :)

We love these! The only problem we found is the long car version. The connection point between the two sides is so small that it flexes there. We don't expect it to last long when played with by a 7 and 5-year old.

Thanks! I will try to fix that! ;) For a reason i don't know, i thought it would be used only in dioramas. I must have been tired!!! 😂 But you are right! I will make them more stronger to let the kids use them as a toy!

Thank you! Our grandkids loved them!
