One day, after stumbling upon the Pocket Guide to the Apocalypse: The Official Field Manual for the End of the World by Jason Boyett, I decided that I wanted to make this video. I'm also just fascinated about how many people trust other people who repeatedly get things wrong. I wanted to also make a video about con artists before the upcoming election, but I guess the video will have to do for now.

In other news, we made it back safely from Malaysia. I got a lot of great footage and decided to make a video out of that as well. Stay tuned!

Thank you for your continued support. :)

According to another poll, 83% of people living in Afghanistan said the end times would happen in their lifetime. According to yet another poll, 10% of people around the world think the world is probably going to end THIS YEAR. Oh wait, that was a poll taken in 2012. Well, I guess the world DIDN’T end in 2012, after all. Oh hey…yeah…remember that? Back in 2012 when a lot of people were freaking out about the world ending? There was even a movie that got in on the fun. A really crappy movie. Anyway, the 2012 phenomenon was when a bunch of people thought either world-ending or world-transforming events would happen on or around December 21, 2012, the end-date of a 5,126-year-long cycle described in an ancient Maya calendar. Yeah, that date came and went and the end of the world did not, in fact, happen. But humans have been saying the end of the world is near (turning) I should clarify, that the end of the end of the world is near FOR HUMANS (turning) for at least a couple thousand years. Here in the United States, it’s often certain Christians are the ones who won’t stop talking about the End Times, often paired with the return of Jesus Christ. But it’s not just Christianity that has been all about apocalypticism, or the belief that the end of the world could happen any day. No, no no no no. Other religions have got in on the fun, too. Here’s a brief history of the End of the World.

Sometimes these hucksters and charlatans will reverse engineer their claim... But the world did end, Mr. Beat. It had a spiritual end. Me: Oh, horseshit.

I feel like the world still did end in 2012. ...for the people who used the lingo "YOLO". Remember that? They all lived once like they lived by for saying that, and died. I'm not kidding that 12/21/2012 was literally the first day that NOBODY in my school said that word AGAIN. So, what if all the people who did say that actually died? 😳

Could you give me a source text out of the writings of Irenaeus, Julius Africanas, Hippolytus, Hilery of Poitiers, and Gregory of Tours. I have their writings on my bookshelf, and I really want to be able to check for myself.

Im a bit concerned that you inadvertently connected Eschatology with someone using modern observations to predict or foreshadow the end of the world. connecting Eschatology with that is not fair and even misleading. Eschatology focuses souly on biblical study's and draws from the view that you will not know when it will end. Even though there are those who do both eschatology and connecting modern events to the end times they are not inclusive of one another. My denomination doesn't do that for example.

I cant find anything online outside of wikipedia showing Luther predicting the end of the world. he feared the world would end in his lifetime but refused to name a year or date as he thought that was wrong.

Wikipedia did not list Isaac Newtons prediction.

I remember around the time I was in high school, Harold Camping was the guy who kept predicting the end of the world. And every time it turned out to be wrong he would say that he forgot to carry the two or something, and that the real end times were six months from now. And then it still wouldn't happen.

That’s great. It starts with an earthquake. Birds and snakes and aeroplanes. Lenny Bruce is not afraid.

At almost 75 my end times are getting nearer but I don't think it's the end times. I think the US may be in decline as a world power though? Interesting video!
