Hi Patrons,

New illustration, weeew !

I feel like I'm only drawing moon themed illustration lately, sorry about that !! But it's so fun and this time I thought I'd try something new to me : bright light and shadows.

This is the picture that made me want to paint a big moon ("Found my moon" by photographer Unun) :

I loved the light yellow / dark blue contrast so I tried to recreate that in my painting. This is the sketch that I did on my iPad :

The finished illustration lost the yellow tone the initial sketch has, which is too bad because I really liked it, but if I make prints of it I'll definitely add a layer of yellow to the scan in Photoshop πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈ

First painting session (1 or 2 hours maybe) :

Second session :

I painted the light on her sleeves with no reference and of course it ended up looking weird.

So I painted over it with dark blue, took a reference picture myself using a tea towel, my husband Cyprien and the flashlight of my phone πŸ‘€
I recreated a puffy sleeve with the towel, put it on Cyprien's arm, and pointed the flashlight in the same direction as the moon. And the picture actually helped me a lot !!

The finished illustration :

I think it turned out okay ! It was challenging for me to paint this kind of high contrast lighting. I hope you'll like it πŸ₯°βœ¨

Thanks again for your support on Patreon πŸ’•πŸŒ™πŸŒΌ

Sibylline
